Babyliss 7890U I-Trim Stubble
by paulie1975
I have to admit I am shallow and do get swayed by public opinion, recently when looking for a new beard/hair trimmer, I did use Amazon (As well as Dooyoo) to check the best on the market, with over 240 users suggesting this product was over 4 stars, and with a price of £42.99 this seemed like a sensible buy so I took the ... plunge.
What appealed to me about the product:
Firstly the beard trimmer claims to have 15 length settings from 0.4mm to 5mm, this is pretty awesome as everyone tells me I look better with stubble it allows me to walk the fine line between fashionably stubbled and looking like a hobo.
The product looked small, easy to store and compact too, and it is, it is about 18cm tall and weighs around 1kg, it is simple and understated with a smooth contoured shape that makes it easy to hold, but doesn't offer any areas for grip, it doesn't oversell the Babyliss angle with advertising all over it and it has an easy to use button to decide the level of length settings and an electronic display showing these.
I liked the price, the look and the fact people suggested it shaved evenly without pulling and causing pain, so I bought it from Amazon and have to say I would give this a 4 out of 5 as I have been impressed with the ease of use, the power of the shaver and its reliability.
My Review:
After a 16 hour battery charge (This is normal with beard trimmers, so don't be put off by this), I was ready to go and so was my trimmer,
The trimmer instructions are short and succinct, it takes a couple of minutes to appreciate that you have the on/off button and two buttons allowing you to adjust the length lettings up and down, your chosen length is displayed on an electronic monitor on the front of the shaver which isn't too large and doesn't dominate the shaver.
I have used a few electric razors and have to say this one is the smoothest I have used, it shaved evenly and didn't pull at the stubble which is a massive plus, it made the whole experience less of a chore and ensures i'm happy to keep coming back to use it, it is easy to store in the bathroom and takes up little space which is also a massive plus.
If I was being picky I would say they could cut the 15 length settings to 8 or 9 as it is hard to distinguish between some of the settings as 1mm is so tiny that some settings look very similar, I have found my preferred setting though and don't really see a need to deviate from this, so perhaps the number of length settings is a plus as I might not have found it with fewer options.
The whole device is simple and easy to use, not to bulky or heavy, supplied with a brush and lubricant to maintain the shaver after use and a shaver plug (Which only goes into the shaver socket most homes have in their bathrooms).
Overall I would say I hope this proves reliable as it does everything I want it to, maintaining my stubble without pulling and scratching, it looks fine, is understated, the price is fairly hefty, but I consider that if this lasts me two years I would have spent that amount of money or more on disposable razors anyway (As it is I have bought a 10 pack to deal with occasions when I have to be clean shaven).
The product comes with a 3 year money back guarantee which shows the confidence the makers have in their product and after 6 weeks use I think their confidence is well placed, this is a superior beard trimmer that is powerful, looks good and does everything you could hope without leaving patchy, uneven stubble. The shaver is available in Amazon, Argos and Boots. Read the complete review |

Wahl WHL79223 100 Series
by thatkatygirl
I bought these for my boyfriend as he always complained about having to pay money to go and get his hair cut when all he wanted was a really simple cut. He asked if I'd mind doing it and at first, I was a little hesitant, but this Wahl hair trimmer helped me to overcome my nerves and walked me through how to do it with a mini guide that ... came with the set.
The design of these clippers is very simple. A plain black handle which you attach clippers to the end of. It comes with a number of different size clippers so that you can find the length you want, and they are very easy to attach to the main part. I usually start with one of the longest combs and then cut it shorter if it looks ok! You can also get additional combs for longer lengths if you require for a different style.
The set, as with all Wahl clippers as far as I'm aware, comes with the clippers themselves, the range of different length cutting combs, scissors, a comb, a cleaning brush and a little bottle of oil to lubricate the blades.
I bought this just under two years ago for a very reasonable price, which has saved my boyfriend a LOT of money going to get it done professionally! I would definitely recommend as they were very easy to use, especially with the little guide that walks you through it. Read the complete review |

Babyliss 7436CU for Men
by JJJJ
When my old clippers got to the stage where hair felt like it was being ripped out rather than cut, it was undoubtedly time to buy a new set! My criteria was simple, the clipper had to be cheap but also have a number of positive reviews online. My research led me to to the Babyliss 7436U which has a current retail price of just over £20 ... from amazon. When I bought the clippers, the price was a little lower - I paid in the region of £16 from Argos.
Design & Appearance

The clipper is mains operated, but has a 160cm cable which means you don't have to be crammed in next to the plug socket whilst you're using it. In terms of accessories, the trimmer comes with ten attachments ranging from 32mm, all the way down to a grade one equivalent. Said plastic attachments are easy to clip on and subsequently remove from the front of the device. Although it's primarily constructed from plastic, the Babylis feels solid in the hand and is comfortable to hold. As new the clippers come with some (cheap) scissors, two brushes (one for removing hair from the trimmer, and one for the back of your neck), a comb, and some oil for maintenance of the blades.
Performance

In operation the 7436cu is fairly loud - but then the majority of clippers are, and it's actually a little quieter than my previous model which was made by Nicky Clarke. In my experience i've found that hair is cut easily and without any tugging - as long as you move the device across your head at at a sensible pace. Although I go over the hair a number of times in different directions to ensure a thorough cut, there's really no need to as the Babylis seems to get most of the hair off first time. When the job is complete the clippers are easy to clean by giving the cutting blades a quick once over with the smaller of the two brushes provided.
Final Word

Overall I would certainly recommend the Babylis 7436cu hair clippers which have exceeded my expectations for the price. To be honest, i'm not looking for the advanced features that some of the more expensive models provide - i.e cordless technology - the 7436 simply does the basics and does them well.
