The circular shape of these clippers are really nice to hold and it feels really comfortable and in theory it would be really easy for single handed use to use all over the head. A full charge takes ages but when it is fully charged the clippers will work for approximately 40 minutes on a full charge but if you forget to charge them then you can also use them from mains power. As well as the mains clippers you also get a smaller precision trimmer for using on sideburns and the back of the neck etc. I liked that you also received a bag with the clippers for storing them in if you are going anywhere and there was also a comb, some scissors and some oil for using with the clippers.
The clippers are designed to be used in any direction so you should be able to just move them about your hair anyway you want and they should cut your hair evenly. This is what it says in the instructions so I really thought these would be simple and quick to use and I thought that my husband would be able to trim his hair whenever he wanted by himself and I wouldn’t be called upon to tidy it up again. Unfortunately these weren’t as easy to use as I thought they were going to be. The first time my husband used them he came through afterwards and his hair looked a real state as there was patches were some hair was longer and some was shorter and it certainly didn’t look very even. I assumed he was just doing something wrong so I told him I would do it for him but when I tried I found them so difficult to use to get an even result. It took absolutely ages to do his hair with these and it was nowhere near as simple as I had been led to believe it would be. As well as leaving longer hair it also pulled at my husbands hair and he stated several times it was feeling uncomfortable. Even after taking ages using these to try and get a nice finish I could still notice longer hairs that hasn’t been cut and was really annoyed that these weren’t anywhere near as good or as effective as they should have been.
In the end we went back to using his old clippers because even though he has had them for years they can be trusted to give a much more even finish than these ones and even if I am called upon to tidy up the back of his hair with the old clippers at least I know he isn’t going to be looking untidy like he did with these clippers.
I bought one of these with the idea of saving money. I thought that if I bought one of these then I would never have to go to a barbers again. So when I bought this I was really quite excited. I thought that this would be brilliant, I can save money and cut my hair to look how I want it to. But I was very much disappointed with my purchase.
I felt that they didn't actually cut my hair more that it seemed to be pulling most of the them out. I initially thought that I was using them wrong or that maybe I hadn't done something correct so I looked through the leaflet and looked online for information on how to use them. I cleaned them, washed my hair, I made sure that there were no products in my hair. But once again when I tried them I found that it was still pulling my hair more than cutting it.
Not only that regardless of how long or short I wanted my hair they just didn't really work. I wasn't finding a pile of hair upon the floor as I expected. They just didn't work. So I relegated them to underneath my bed before they went into the garage and eventually the tip.
The beard trimmer I was extremely disappointed with. I don't know what was wrong with them but they just didn't cut my facial hair at all. It didn't matter what I did with the trimmer the hair remained upon my face at exactly the same length. I quickly gave up on this as I thought that it was going to be exactly like the hair clippers. I quickly picked up my disposable razor and got the shave I was hoping to have using the trimmers.
I did initially think that maybe I was doing something wrong with these items, and I do have a little bit of a technology phobia, but it wasn't just me that had problems with these. I let my dad and a couple of my brothers use these items and they all said the same. That they didn't work regardless of how much used them.
I was extremely disappointed with my purchase, I only wish I had kept my receipt and returned the items and used my money to go pay for a my hair to be cut. I would strongly recommend that people avoid this product and go for another brand or just go to someone else who will cut your hair. This is a really nice idea but just a shame that they don't actually work.
** What is it? **
The Babyliss 7545U Easy Cut V2 Hair Clipper is a hair clipper designed to make cutting hair not only easier but also something you can do on your own. I've been cutting my husband's hair for about 8 years now and always used a traditonal electric clipper with combs. But when I saw the Babyliss 7545U Easy Cut V2 Hair Clipper I thought it would be a great way for him to maintain his hair quickly and easily - without me needing to cut it as often, as I'm always trying to fit his haircuts around looking after our toddler.
** Price and Availability **
I paid £39.99 from Boots for the Babyliss 7545U Easy Cut V2 Hair Clipper however the price has since dropped and you can pick it up online from £30 (although, if you read my review.. I wouldn't recommend it).
** What's in the Box **
You get the Babyliss 7545U Easy Cut V2 Hair Clipper (which is like a standard clipper)
The Easy Cut attachment
Cleaning brush and lubricating oil
** In Use **
My husband was quite excited at the prospect of being able to neaten up his hair so once it had been delivered he opened it up to use straight away.
Unfortunately despite reading the manual and using the clipper correctly he felt the clipper was tugging at his hair rather than cutting it. He had previously washed his hair to make sure there wasn't any product in it that could block the trimmer, but even so it felt to him like it was pulling on his hair.
It did seem to be cutting off a tiny bit, but it didn't work around the hairline and was particularly bad around my husband's crown, which is on the left side of his head. It barely cut this at all, leaving a tufty mess.
Thinking he might have his technique all wrong, I took over (as we women often do) thinking I knew better but had to concede it wasn't my husband, it really is, to put it bluntly (no pun intended) a rubbish hair clipper.
After the fluffy, tufty mess the Babyliss 7545U Easy Cut V2 Hair Clipper made of my husband's hair, I had to get the flipping hair clippers out and sort it out. Thank goodness he wasn't away on business when he tried this, he'd have had to take the nail clippers to his poor barnet!
** Overall **
Well, that was it's first and last use. We cleaned the minimal amount of hair from it, packed it right back up and took it into a Boots store for a refund.
So, I obviously cannot recommend that anyone buys this as it's a complete waste of time, money and effort. I had to spend money getting it back to Boots, after paying a delivery charge to get it in the first place, and then wait 5 days for my refund.
We haven't bothered to buy any sort of replacement for the Babyliss 7545U Easy Cut V2 Hair Clipper and will stick to the good old fashioned Remington hand-held clipper with replaceable heads, though it does mean I've consigned myself to a life of being my husband's barber!
A very much deserved 1 star out of 5 (I'd give it less if I could) for the fantastically concieved but terribly presented Babyliss 7545U Easy Cut V2 Hair Clipper, which is about as much worry to the haircutting profession as Kerry Katona is to the Times Rich List.
In one word - Avoid!
It seemed such a great idea. My husband is balding and keeps his hair very short. I clip it for him which get's on my nerves! This was the answer to my prayers - or so I thought.........
Don't buy this trimmer!
1. It doesn't trim anywhere near as short as he'd like (around 1.6mm).
2. It's so uneven over the contours of the head and neck. It looked as though his head had been hacked! Really short in patches and long in others. I had to bic his head afterwards to clear up the mess. NOT HAPPY!
3. I cannot see a way that this could work around the back of the ears and towards the neck. It's almost as though the device is too big??
SOME GOOD POINTS....
1. Very reasonably priced considering you get 2 devices.
2. The precision trimmer was good for sideburns and face stubble. It was also good for neatening around the ears and neckline. But a bit pointless when the rest is a mess!
3. I still think this is a really great idea and I hope there's some geeks out there working on improving the design.
I've no idea how someone is meant to use this. I couldn't do it and I was looking! 1 star for the idea alone!
I bought this for my fiance last year for Christmas, both him and my son have their hair short and although we do have other hair trimmers, we are forever losing the blades. Once we have found the blades we have forgotten to charge the trimmer, so normally there is needless waiting involved along with the odd row over who was the last person to see the blades etc etc.
I saw this and thought the idea of a quick 10 minute rub over the head to keep the hair at the desired length was a great idea and well worth the purchase price! Oh how wrong I was, after expectantly waiting for them to charge, I took it in hand and moved towards the head of my fiance.
I attached the number 4 plastic round guard and turned it on, I started to gently roll it over the hair, only to discover that very little was really happening. It doesnt touch the hair near the ears or edges, so the other trimmer is essential for these areas. However it doesnt really cut the hair either, cutting is definaltly not the right word. After trying for a further 20 mins to get some kind of hair cut we decided that maybe my sons hair would be better as it was shorter. He sat expectantly as I rolled it over his shorter hair, only to greeted with the same lack of haircut.
There was a small amount of little tuffs laying on the hair once you lift it up but nothing like I was expecting. It does pull the hair as well I was delightfully informed, I gave my fiance the trimmer to see if it was my female lack of cutting hair knowledge that was the reason for the bad haircut but he also failed too.
The beard trimmer is excellant and works no problems at all. The style of the hair trimmer is great, it looks the part its just a great shame its performance doesnt live up to the hype.
This is a really good idea. its simple, select the length you want, turn it on and rub it over your head. Unfortunately it fails to preform to even an acceptable level.
The 1st time I used it was the last. I would normally be able to cut my own hair in about 25 minutes. 40 minutes of rubbing this things over my head my arm was aching, my head was sore and there was still uneven hair sticking out all over the place, at this point I gave up and retrieved my standard clippers.
The build quality is really good, it looks amazing with the carbon fibre styling, chunky switches and testosterone driven design, its a real shame it lets its self down by not delivering a good hair cut. The same cannot be said for the small tidying clippers that are included, intended for tidying around the ears and back of the neck they work absolutely perfectly and even include replaceable batteries.
Bought this last year when my husband broke his hair trimmer, we thought it was a novel idea having a hand held circular hair trimmer that you could just rub all over your head to shave/trim everything to even sizes. It looks like some kind of a massage tool. The pack came with a small trimmer for cutting edges and behind the ears.
It was fairly easy to set up and follow the instructions, nothing to it as the adverts suggested.
An hour later, much to the whining and crying of my boys and a screaming arguments with my husband that I wasn't doing it properly I gave up.
The circular hair trimmer kept pulling the hairs, it clogged, it would not cut every thing, despite all out effort to get the hairs the even sizes, the boys head looked mangled, scruffy and it did look as if they had some kind of a disease. Granted their hair was more than 2 inches, I used the small straight trimmer to shorten the hairs, the circular thing still did not function as it should. My husbands hair was short anyway, he accused me of not using the tool properly as it hurt, pulled his hairs.
I returned the pack back to Tesco, they refused to refund as the package had been opened. Due to the new law, you cannot return opened package unless the products were faulty, Tesco insisted the hair trimmers weren't faulty so had rights to refuse refund me. I e-mailed Babyliss and heard nothing from their consumer services.
I bought this hair trimmer after trying several of the more conventional types and seing a cheap deal o this one.
The build quality is excellent. It feels solid and the attachments fit onto the trimmer well. The power cord fits easily into the charging point.
Ease Of Use
The circular trimmer is excellent for short hair all over. I go very short and have found that the graded attachments are all quite long and tend to use the trimmer without them. It trims the majority of your locks well although due to the circle is very hard to get in close around the ears.
The trimmer included in the pack is more like a beard trimmer and can be used for doing the finer area around the ears and features, however with no grading attachment it is difficult to use it to maintain any length of hair.
Combining the two types of trimmer makes the area around the ears manageable, but you really have to try to get in close with the larger circular trimmer first, which isn't very easy.
Over the rest of the head it is easy to achieve a constant hair length and I haven;t found any issues with this.
The hair trimmer is easy to charge and can be used when charging (unlike some other types I have used where if the power dies you end up with a half shaved head)
The Babyliss trimmer looks great. It is ergonomically styled and good quality plastic is used to give it a sleek designed look.
It's usually priced around £40 which is more pricey than the conventianal non-rotary type trimmer. For basic head shaving it is definitley an improvement and worth the extra cost.
Despite the issues above (getting in close around the ears) it is a good trimmer, worth the cost and definitley recommended. For more detailed hairstyling this isn't the one.
