“ A range of different length settings make this a very versatile product that caters for a range of different requirements. It is reasonably priced, shaves well and is reliable. „
I saw people giving this praise on youtube a couple of months ago and I thought it looks good, but i was unsure. However as you can tell I decided to get it and boy do i wish i got this earlier! I normally use a 0.4 setting (the lowest) just because it looks super clean and I like the look of slightly growing new hair. Sometimes I move it up to a 0.6 or a 1.0 and you can really notice the difference! I actually used this on holiday to shave my head hair... and to be honest It looked really good!! I had to go over it a couple of times but it sure did the trick!!
The istubble comes with a small amount of oil (which you can use on the blades) but so far I havn't found the need to use this! I think it extends the life of them but meh, if it breaks ill just get a new one!
I wish i found this earlier!!
Looking back at this review, well I can't believe I didn't write more! Let me go into some more depth here:
The buttons on the front allow you to higher and lower the blade which is useful as you can really notice the differences between even the slightest of changes. I keep it on a 0.4 but It comes out more as 0.2-0.3. When I shave with this I use it in upwards motions like a normal razor and I push really quite hard. I even puff my cheeks out too to make sure I get all the hairs and not once has this cut my skin! - I really do push very hard. At points it starts to shave poorly, which is due to the fact hair gathers under the blade. To get rid of this you just flick the blade bit open and tap it gentle - it all falls out very easily!
In the booklet it comes with it suggest how to trim your bead around your top lip and it says you need to flick the main bit off (which is very easy) and cut it that way. The reason for this is because some main find they cant shave that bit due to the head being quite large (the shaver head and not yours!). I used to shave like this until I realised I didn't need to flick the blade around, which makes shaving even quicker!!
The main bonus for me with this is the fact I have sensitive skin. My stubble always gets to a certain length before it gets really itchy and this is when I normally shave. I'm never left with really sharp stubble after I shave which is great and it feels and looks good, smooth and even!
Before I bought this I looked online and theres loads of videos of how to use this shaver. I highly rate it and I know others do! Get yours today is what I say!!!
The Babyliss stubble trimmer is by far the most efficient I have used to date, and I have done so for three years now. Unlike cheaper alternatives, this allows for different stubble lengths and is completely electronic with no manual switching. The lengths go from 0.4mm to 5mm and are adjusted via the up/down buttons and indicated on a handy LCD screen (which also displays battery life). One may also lift up the guard and use the bare razor for an even closer shave beyond 0.4mm. This is useful for after having used a particular length and then proceeding to tidy up edges or reach difficult places. I have found it especially useful for the neck where hair growth is in different directions and therefore the stubble trimmer with the guard cannot pick up all hairs to the same accuracy.
It provides for a very comfortable shave in two aspects. First, the head is flexible enough and sufficiently designed in order to navigate the contours of your face with ease. Second, it is not at all sore and does not cause aggravation to the skin in the slightest. This is of particular relief to those of us with sensitive skin which causes wet shaving to be painful and irritating. Even using the standard electric shaver (with the three small heads) is still uncomfortable because it shaves too close. The stubble trimmer on 0.4mm setting will give a very fine stubble which I personally believe to look better than a close shave and, equally as important, is pain free, quick and easy.
Cleaning is simple and amounts to no more than using an included brush to sweep away stubble both under the guard and under the razor itself. Battery life is impressive and a useful feature if your battery is fully depleted is that a five-minute charge is equal to one shave. This has certainly saved me on more than one occasion. One problem I will note, however, is that the charger itself is of poor quality and not at all sturdy. Another useful feature on the slightly upgraded model (navy instead of grey) is that it remembers your last length setting, thus resolving the need to return to a length yourself.
If you prefer the comfort and look of stubble then I believe this product is one of the best on the market right now. If Babyliss could add the vacuum feature of the Philips trimmer to automatically clean up stubble then it would not be far off the perfect trimmer.
Yes, I am female. No, I do not have stubble!
But my husband does and he is the laziest groomer and I am responsible for trimming him!
We have bought a shaver or trimmer almost annually, trying to find the perfect trimmer that will keep his beard neat (the way I like it!) but also can be used to shave his head (he's balding so keeps it very short.)
We've always found a trimmer that's good for one but not the other. Now we've found this!!
It's precise enough to keep his head hair length very short and his beard length slightly longer.
FOR THE FACE - my husband finds it extremely comfortable. He likes the way the moveable glide contours his face. He always used to nick himself using other trimmers when cutting the hair on his neck but this is much more comfortable - and no injuries yet!
FOR HIS HEAD - it now takes twice as long to trim his hair however, the end result is worth it! It gives an even trim even over the knobbly bits! And to trim the hair at the back of his neck I can easily fold back the guard and trim away!
The trimmer is really stylish looking and sits nicely on the bathroom shelf without cluttering it up with useless accessories. I love that there isn't a million different pieces (and you only use one of the stupid things!). It doesn't have a holder or stand but I don't think it needs one.
It has a digital display which clearly shows the cut length setting. It cleverly remembers the last setting you had it on and automatically adjusts to that when switched on.
It is a bit annoying that it starts cutting immediately. I'd like to turn it on, check the setting then begin to cut. (but i'm a control freak!)
I think this is an excellent trimmer for the price (we've payed much more for a lot worse!). It's an excellent gift idea for your loved ones or maybe you could just buy it yourself!
The only reason it loses a star is that it takes longer to use on the head which I know isn't it's intended purpose!
I have used the Babyliss i stubble now for about 5 months and I can say I am very pleased with it. It trims to a variety of lengths without having to change any guards, all you do is press the up or down button and the length you want to cut at appears on the digital display. The trimmer feels very sturdy and well made and does not feel flimsy in any way.
The best part of the trimmer is that if the battery runs out, which is not very likely as the battery lasts ages, you can plug it in and use it directly from the mains. This sounds a simple thing but I have used some in the past where you can not do this and you have to wait for ages to be able to start using the trimmer again.
The main thing that I think could be improved would be the ability to rinse the trimmer under the tap to clean it. You do get a small brush to clean the top but the ability to rinse it clean would be much easier and many other trimmers to allow you to do this, some are even OK for use in the shower.
I use my trimmer every few days and it has never disappointed. You can set exactly what length you would like to trim at and, if you want a very close shave you can flick the guard up and use it without. This gives a very close shave and in my experience, has never given me any cuts or nicks which many other shavers and trimmers do.
Overall I am very impressed with the trimmer and hopefully by the time it comes to replacing it in many years, they have brought one out which you are able to run under the tap to clean.
I should probably start out by saying I am one lazy man! I really am not the sort of person who shave every day, I shave more towards once a week. I found that using conventional razor blades, or my phillips shaver (I will review this at a later date), did not work for me (yes they gave a close shave, closer than this... but they were very painful to use when you have any decent amount of facial hair). Also, because i only shave once, maybe twice a week, I would look very odd one day having a clean shave, and the rest having a bit of a beard. Most people who only seen me occasionally would comment on how i can never keep the same look!
So I stated looking for a trimmer, and i found one called the barba on amazon. However, i saw the babyliss i-stubble in costco for around 30-35 pounds (it was one special offer), and came with a 3 year warranty, so i couldnt resist!
Anyway, opening the packet, you have a shaver, some oil, a brush and a charger. After a long charge (its like 20 hours), i was ready to go. The device is very simple to use. You simply press the up or down arrow, and the little head has a machine which somehow makes the shaver bit move away/towards the head, getting the length you want. You are supposed to be able to go from 0.2mm to something like 5 mm (i leave it on 0.4mm), but i am not totally convinced it is the most accurate method? Anyway, its pretty sweet, you can get the exact thickness of beard you want.
Another nifty feature is that the head moves independently from the body for a short arc. You may be thinking what is the point in this, but it means when you drag it along your face, it contours really nicely. It does make a decent difference, with my philshave, I would have to keep contorting my face into weird faces to get it to work, no need with this.
The shaver also cuts cleaner, and doesn't "pluck" the hair out, it actually cuts them (unlike my philishave, however maybe with time the blades will become dull? on the packet it says that they are meant to keep their sharpness for a long time).
Also the head can be flipped up, for a finisher should you need one (i only really use this near my mostache, i can't get to some hairs with the head on, because it just catches on my nose... however this is a problem for everything i use (blades, philishave), i think i must just have a weird nose!
Battery life is very good (but i have not had it for a very long time, about 3 months or so, maybe over time the battery will weaken?). Note that you can do a super fast charge (so a 2 minute charge to charge battery just enough for a shave, or you can do a full battery recharge (which i think is about 8 hours), or you can run it off the mains, it really is up to you.
The onyl bad points i have on this are:
Price, it ain't bad, but i only got it cheap because it was on special offer. Expect to pay in the region of 45-50 quid for yours.
Robustness: although nothing has gone wrong with mine yet, i worry that if you were to drop it on its movable head thing, it would just break clean off.
Near nose area: as previous mentioned
But these really are little niggles compared to the whole of it, for that reason I give it 5/5
I have to admit I am shallow and do get swayed by public opinion, recently when looking for a new beard/hair trimmer, I did use Amazon (As well as Dooyoo) to check the best on the market, with over 240 users suggesting this product was over 4 stars, and with a price of £42.99 this seemed like a sensible buy so I took the plunge.
What appealed to me about the product:
Firstly the beard trimmer claims to have 15 length settings from 0.4mm to 5mm, this is pretty awesome as everyone tells me I look better with stubble it allows me to walk the fine line between fashionably stubbled and looking like a hobo.
The product looked small, easy to store and compact too, and it is, it is about 18cm tall and weighs around 1kg, it is simple and understated with a smooth contoured shape that makes it easy to hold, but doesn't offer any areas for grip, it doesn't oversell the Babyliss angle with advertising all over it and it has an easy to use button to decide the level of length settings and an electronic display showing these.
I liked the price, the look and the fact people suggested it shaved evenly without pulling and causing pain, so I bought it from Amazon and have to say I would give this a 4 out of 5 as I have been impressed with the ease of use, the power of the shaver and its reliability.
After a 16 hour battery charge (This is normal with beard trimmers, so don't be put off by this), I was ready to go and so was my trimmer,
The trimmer instructions are short and succinct, it takes a couple of minutes to appreciate that you have the on/off button and two buttons allowing you to adjust the length lettings up and down, your chosen length is displayed on an electronic monitor on the front of the shaver which isn't too large and doesn't dominate the shaver.
I have used a few electric razors and have to say this one is the smoothest I have used, it shaved evenly and didn't pull at the stubble which is a massive plus, it made the whole experience less of a chore and ensures i'm happy to keep coming back to use it, it is easy to store in the bathroom and takes up little space which is also a massive plus.
If I was being picky I would say they could cut the 15 length settings to 8 or 9 as it is hard to distinguish between some of the settings as 1mm is so tiny that some settings look very similar, I have found my preferred setting though and don't really see a need to deviate from this, so perhaps the number of length settings is a plus as I might not have found it with fewer options.
The whole device is simple and easy to use, not to bulky or heavy, supplied with a brush and lubricant to maintain the shaver after use and a shaver plug (Which only goes into the shaver socket most homes have in their bathrooms).
Overall I would say I hope this proves reliable as it does everything I want it to, maintaining my stubble without pulling and scratching, it looks fine, is understated, the price is fairly hefty, but I consider that if this lasts me two years I would have spent that amount of money or more on disposable razors anyway (As it is I have bought a 10 pack to deal with occasions when I have to be clean shaven).
The product comes with a 3 year money back guarantee which shows the confidence the makers have in their product and after 6 weeks use I think their confidence is well placed, this is a superior beard trimmer that is powerful, looks good and does everything you could hope without leaving patchy, uneven stubble. The shaver is available in Amazon, Argos and Boots.
Had this for about 6 months now, and use it regularly.
Looks >>>> As far as looks of the object go, its styled well, and looks modern and well made. The shaver is about 20cm long, as most have said they don't expect this, but it actually comes in as an advantage as it makes it much easier to use and less fiddly. It features a piece of inset aluminium on the front which gives the product a nice non cheap feel to it.
Usability >>>> The item has three buttons, 2 arrows to change the cutting length and power. The cutting length increases by either .2mm or .5mm nearer the larger lengths. Upon changing the length, the head of the shaver adjusts.Considering the minute difference in lengths it offers is surprisingly accurate.
It also has the great option of flipping the guide comb over and clipping to the back, to enable the shaver to be used for tidying sideburns or getting an even closer shave, unguided. The device turns off after a few second if left in standby mode and comes on at the press of any of the buttons.
The display is bright and after a few seconds gives a battery readout indicator out of three bars.
At first when using this, you initially presume its not working properly, but because the blades are so sharp, you cant hear the hairs being cut. It also takes a few goes getting used to which setting suits you best. I find the charge lasts around a week sometimes more. Charges up in around an hour but also has a quick charge mode of around 5mins for 5 mins.
Difficulties I have encountered are:> that it is quite difficult to get an even shaved length sometimes depending how long you leave in between shaves as it struggles to pick up hairs that lay flat. This means you have to go over areas a few times in order for it to pick up the hairs in the comb.
>And that doing the under nose area can take a bit of getting used too as its quite fiddly to get the trimmer to reach the upper parts as the guide comb gets in the way.
The device comes with its own special oil, and a double brush, which is good as there are lots of places for hairs to get into as its quite mechanical.
Comes with plug adapter for the shaving plug and full instructions.
Would be nice if it came with a stand.
Would recommend this product, just beware of the fact that it does struggle to cut some hairs.
.I own a fantastic gadget for getting rid of and shaping my facial stubble - it is the Babyliss 789OU I-Trim Stubble and it cost me about £40 from the Babyliss site online about one year ago. I have had other trimmers like this in the range but this is the newest design and I am very pleased with it.
I do suffer from sensitive skin yet it is very kind and gentle to my face. I have just taken my sideburns clean off without any bother and I use it to get a close shave under the nose and between the lip and also between my eyebrows as they meet in the middle. I particularly love the floating contour heads on this trimmer as they allow me to really get into the curves of my face and give me a close shave. It is incredibly accurate and very comfortable to hold and the size enables me to get a really good grip so I feel in control at all times.
It comes with a three year guarantee for your peace of mind and it is a brand I know and trust. I love the blades on this trimmer as they are electronically chemically sharpened and this delivers an extremely close shave which my other half adores. I also love the digital display unit on the front which is large enough for me to see clearly without having to wear my glasses. The only gripe I have with this model is that it does not come with a stand (the other models I had did come with stands, and I miss this finer detail). It comes with good full clear instructions for usage, oil for the blades and a little brush to clean it with - it also has a charger and you have to charge it for about sixteen hours before you use it.
It is great trimmer and decent price and greatly recommended. ..
As a young man trying to please the ladies and continually being told stubble is sexy i decided to buy myself this I-Stubble that I have been told so much about.
I am not a particularly hairy person and I don't have to shave / trim every day... Yet i have still managed to turn this little gadget into an essential piece of kit!
A few quick points about the I-Stubble
1) It is bigger than I thought (purchased online so didn't really know the size of the packaging) yet when it's in your hand it doesn't feel like its to big or difficult to handle. Has a quality feel during use and make you feel confident using it that there will be no little bald spots or missed edges this is helped by the adjustable head! that moves with the shape of your face. All in all i think the size makes it easier to hold and grip
2) Due to the size trimming the tash is not easy but can be done (if your nose is like mine you may need to move it around a little!)
3) It comes with oil for the blades and charger and small brush everything you need to get stared straight away
4) Accurate digital display and is very simple and easy to use!
Touch wood I have had no problems as of yet but would have no issue in buying another (next time the sale is on) to replace this one.
overall - happy with my purchase! Very good product even if it is a bit pricey when not in the sales
