Advantages: Quite cheap, easy to use, rotating head
Disadvantages: Cuts lower than expected
As I was travelling around Australia getting to have my hair cut became more of a pain as sometimes I was away from towns for such a long time that my hair just grew and grew. My friend let me borrow a pair of his clippers so I shaved my head which is something that I have never done before, but as I was impressed with the results and how easy it was, I decided that when I got home I would buy some for myself.
I couldnt remember what ones he used, so had to do a bit of research and managed to find these at half price, £25 at Argos, which I didnt think was too bad.
They are quite a novel design in the way that they do cut your hair, but as you can rotate the head of the clipper, it makes it a lot easier to cut the back and sides without help. Some reviews have said that people who have been doing this for a long time still use them as normal, but for me as I havent been, I find the rotation very useful.
They are portable so you can charge them up, one downside here is that it states that if you overcharge them(for more than 8 hours) they can break. Once charged though the cut is quite quick and clean. My firends were ones that only operated on the mains and did cut quicker, however these are very good for being portable and it takes me about 10 minutes to trim my hair back evenly which I think is fine.
They have settings from 3-19mm and this gives a good range, however they are not quite the same as if you go to the barbers. I have been once and had a grade 4, so decided to use this on my hair and found that it was almost completely cut off, my advice here would be ignore the ratings and start hig and gradually get lower just for the first use.
You cant accidently change this setting as is possible with other so it enable you to clip with confidence that it will end up even all over.
Overall I think that for the mney these are a very good pair of clippers, espicially for beginners who are maybe a bit unsure as to what to do. You dont have to lubricate the blades either which makes it easier.
Summary: A good buy if you want to get started, or have been for a while but want something easier
