      ~*~ The Company ~*~

Who would have thought that Remington's shavers had its origins from a firearms manufacturer? Founded in 1816 by E. Remington & Son, they occasionally ventured out to make side-lines; One of the most notable being when the inventor Christopher Sholes encouraged Remington to assist him in developing the typewriter with the "QWERTY" keyboard.

Remington branched out into producing adding machines and other office equipment becoming a leading office equipment company. But it was in 1937 that Remington Rand began to make electric shavers.
The company's most consequential move was in 1950 when they purchased the Eckert-Mauchly Computer Company, delivering the first Univac computer to the United States Census Bureau only a year later.

Many mergers & changing of hands, Victor Kiam's Remington Products Company became very profitable, branching out into other personal care appliances. In 2003, the Kiam family and Vestar sold Remington to the battery company Rayovac. 194 years after its initial weapons production, Remington Products Company LLC now manufacture and markets a whole range of men's and women's cosmetic tools.

~*~ Tips on what to look for when purchasing Hair Clippers and Trimmers ~*~

      > Before buying clippers/trimmers, fundamentally you need to consider, how many cutting grades will you need?
      > You also need to think about what you intend to use them for, which utility do you want them to be powered by, what additional features & items would you like included.
      > Trimmers generally come with two types of power source, battery or electric. Battery powered trimmers are usually less expensive than electric versions.
      > All trimmers have the ability to adjust the length of the haircut, achieved by having adjustable trimming guides in the form of plastic comb attachments. Most trimmers usually include additional items.
      > Number of Cutting Positions: a cutting position is a chosen length that hair can be cut at. The more cutting positions the clipper has, the more versatile it can be. Hair trim length can be in either grades or millimeters, Grade Numbers. 1 2 3 4 6 8 } Hair lengths in mm 3 6 9 12 19 25

There are many more details that can be mentioned but I have dealt with the functions that I personally used in our criteria for purchasing the clippers 'trimmers.

~*~ The product under review ~*~

My adult son often went from 'big foot' lookalike to a completely shaved head. As he is receding to a great degree, he has now chosen to stay with grades 3 to 5.

      > The clippers came securely & neatly packaged with 6 Comb attachments that enables different grades to choose from. Four Clips to hold hair in place. We don't use these due to the hair not being long enough.

      > A very handy Cleaning brush along with a Neck brush. But I use a thick cosmetic blusher brush as this does a much better job at removing loose hair.

      > Also a Storage bag but my son has no real use for this, as he simply puts the shaver back in the box, this avoids the time to wind up the cord & fuss to fit in the bag!

      > The clippers have an easily adjustable blade lever, the stainless steel blades having been treated & therefore, stay sharp.

      > My son shaves the front of his head & I follow up by cutting the back. I'm nervous at shaving but these are brilliant. The firm connection of the combs make them fail safe & user-friendly.

      > When operating these electric clippers, there is only a gentle vibration & satisfactory shaving volume. I find them so easy to operate in that my son simply angles his head to assist me in the shaving motion of the clippers. Once my son has chosen the grade he wishes, I attach the suitable length comb, securely clicked into place, the trimmer gives an exact cutting edge. We have suffered no 'accidents' as yet due to the safety conscious design.

      > Cleaning is so quick & simple, brushing excess hair from the blades once comb is removed (& unplugged), in the direction of the blades. Occasionally, I give the clippers a thorough clean with hygienic anti bacterial wipes, ensuring they are barely moist.

      > The clippers come with a well organized & helpful Instruction Guide. The device is covered by a two Year Manufacturers Guarantee.

I purchased this component for £21 on-line and it's proved to be worth every penny.
