Makes a great gift for friends or even for yourself

I love buying these gift sets for extra Christmas presents, they are easy and look great, they have nice products in them, and even if the recipient doesn't like all the contents, some of them are bound to go down well.

I bought a couple of these for Christmas this year off eBay, I am not sure that Avon holds these anymore. I paid £7.50 each and couldn't pass up a bargain like that. I have bought these for sister-in-law, my daughter and a couple of friends; they cover a multitude of angles makeup wise and are basically a make up for a night out in a bag.

Included in this set is a useful red bag, I think it is known as a clutch bag, not overly huge but big enough to hold money, keys, lipstick etc, and bare essentials. A four set of eye shadows, which include two shades of grey, a light pink and a cream. Nice colours, not sure pink is everyone's favourite colour but you can't go wrong with greys and cream. Supershock mascara, it doesn't truly shock anyone but it's a good stable mascara. Black eyeliner, an essential that every make up kit needs. A nude shade of lipstick and a purple nail varnish. All in all it is a good all round make up kit, the nail varnish should maybe have been a pink shade to match the lipstick and eyeshadow but I would never outwardly diss purple in anything so a bit of purple is good. The bag being red is a little odd as well as there is no other red in the kit but red is a stable colour and looks good with most things.
As a gift I think it is great, it covers all bases with makeup, shadow, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick and nail varnish. Colours may be a little off but they still work I am sure with the colours people already own. I may buy one of these for myself if they still have any as I want that nail varnish. Also worth checking out eBay, if Avon stop selling products, 9 times out of 10 you can get them fro eBay.

Would be four stars if the nail enamel was a different shade.

I was very impressed with the colour choices of the products included in this gift set when I first noticed this gift set in the Avon Representatives magazine. It is nice to see a set of products that are going to be popular with a range of complexions including fair for a change.

My only reservation about this is that on the one hand there is a perfectly co-ordinated set of facial make-up and then on the other there is a bright purple nail enamal. In my opinion, a pink or neutral nail polish would have been much more suitable. At least these are popular colour choices that can be worn independantly of one another.

Included in this gift set is a bright red clutch bag that is filled with a purple nail enamel known as Decadence, an eyeshadow quad in Smokey Eyes which includes shades of grey, pale pink and a creamy colour, an Ultra Colour Rich Lipstick in Sparkling Nude, a Supershock Mascara in black and a Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Blackest Black. This gift set costs £18 and if you purchased the items individually from brochure 18 (including some sale prices) you would pay £28 and that does not include the clutch bag which is not available for sale seperately.

I love both the Supershock Mascara and the Smokey Eyes Eyeshadow Quad in this set as well as the Glimmersticks Eyeliner so it is like I have purchased those for £17 at brochure 18 prices and then got a clutch bag, lipstick and nail enamel for £1 which is good value.

The make-up is certainly a complete look for me as they are all colours I suit well and the products are all good quality. The eyeshadow is a little dry but this can be overcome by blending it with a little moisturiser. The nude lipstick is a lovely neutral colour with a hint of sparkle that goes surprisingly well with the smokey eyeshadows despite appearing to be a neutral colour put with a grey and pink spectrum. As I said before though, the purple nail enamel does not really complete the look and is best used seperately.

I think as long as you feel the recipient of this gift will like and use at least two of the products contained in it then it is good value for money and a decent gift set to give someone this year. It is buy one get one half price in brochure 18 across a range of gift sets so that makes it even better value.
