“ Brand: GHD / Hair Care Type: Straightener „
I recieved this for my birthday 3 years ago and I love this! I have thick, curly hair that takes ages to blow dry let alone straighten!
The set comes with the IV Straightners in a cute purple swirly pattern, a purple travel sized hair dryer, two sectioning clips, a pouch with the same purple swirly pattern with 2 seperate silky bags for the straigtners and dryer. All in a pretty box! There is no denying it is a very pretty package. I have been advised since that the thick plate GHDs are better for thick hair but none of them are as pretty so I don't mind!
Over the three years I've owned these GHDs my hair has varied in length but they have straightened really well despite the thickness and curls of my mane! In about 15 minutes my hair is straight but never poker straight because I don't like it too straight (if that make sense) but it still looks sleek all day. They have a 30 minute turn off feature so even if you forget to switch them off you won't have to run back to the house in a panic!
The dryer is light weight and folds away so it is perfect for holidays or travelling.
The whole set is lovely to use! Recommended!
GHD Purple IV Limited Edition Styler Hair Straightener Gift Set
Description: Brand: ghd / Hair Care Type: Straightener
Before I begin writing this review, I would like to explain that I have quite difficult hair! It is highlighted blond, longer than shoulder length and has a natural half curl which makes it look unruly and frizzy if I leave it to its own devices. For this reason, decent hair straighteners are absolutely vital for me and they don't come much better than GHDs. In fact, if there is anything better on the market, I have never found it!
I received this set for my birthday and must admit that despite them being a little more expensive than the plain black ones, I did beg Mr Siamese to get me the purple ones for no reason other than purple is my favourite colour and they look so cute. Unfortunately, this set did cost in the region of £150 but they do come with a 2 year warranty so you know that you will get your moneys worth (once, I had an old pair of GHDs with a fault which I had to send back, I was immediately sent a brand new pair, despite them being 18 months old) You can save money by purchasing the plain black ones if you prefer or there are other bright funky colours to choose from.
Be careful where you buy GHDs, if an offer appears to be too good to be true, it very probably is. There are loads of counterfeits on the internet and as they haven't passed any safety standards, they could be dangerous, not to mention not having a valid warranty. If you are in any doubt, then contact GHD and check first. You can also purchase them in salons so have a look round and try to get the best deal, but don't forget to be careful.
The set comes in a sexy looking purple velvety box and contains the straighteners, a travel hairdryer (only low wattage so not really very effective but it does at a push), some clips and a really handy heat proof bag. The cable of the straighteners is long and swivels to allow ease of use and they heat up to 210 degrees in seconds (beeping to let you know they are ready to use) There is also a great function which allows the straighteners to switch themselves off automatically if they have been unused for 30 minutes.
There is something about GHD hair straighteners that makes them worlds better than other brands. If you are new to them, the set comes with a handy DVD to show you how to use them (I like to use a heat protection spray to help protect my hair) for the best effects.
These unique straighteners leave hair poker straight, sleek and smooth and it lasts all day or night. They are easy to use and help to protect your hair as they straighten, which works well on preventing future frizz from too much heat styling. Almost all of my friends have GHDs and whether your hair is thick and curly or light and flyaway, you are sure to be delighted with the taming and professional results these straighteners will allow you to achieve. In addition, they can also help you to create gorgeous, sleek perfect curls too - see the DVD for more detail!
In summary, these are not the cheapest hair straighteners on the market but they are without a doubt the best and the cutest looking too!
This is a model of very good product, I have liked it very much, I buy several sets to give my mother, the younger sister, the girlfriend separately and so on, they have praised very much. However you here price feeling has been a little expensive, recommends cheap ghd there to have all products, moreover the price is cheap, quality also very good www.cheapstraighteners.com/to hope that everybody can buy GHD which likes.
I have these straightners but i just got the limited edition 09! They are black with silver patterns on! I LOVE THEM! I LOVE THEM! I LOVE THEM! They can be really pricey but totally worth the money! They come in differant fancey designs and colours and these ones really go with my newly decorated bedroom! LOL! They came in a gawjus box and then inside the box in little silver sparkly bags, I didnt't get any clips but i did get a travel hairdryer which was crap, I may aswell of just got someone to blow at my hair! (Thats how bad it is) Also a real downside is that i payed £150 for these straightners just for the pattern and the hairdryer was a dirty black it didn't even go with the design of my straightners! =( They turn themselfs off if not used for a while, I think its half hour im not sure =\ They heat up straight away roughly around 10 secounds! They are very easy to use, they straighten hair really good and you can also style your hair in differant styles, ringlets, waves, etc. All ghd products come with a 2 year garantee! The only downside to having straightners that get really hot is after a while they start to damage your hair! so make sure you use heat protection on your hair and try deep condition when you can! =) Overall this would make a fantasic gift and is deffinatly worth the hefty price tag!!
GHD's are quite simply the best hair straightners you can buy! They are well worth the money as they not only last long without breaking but you also get the 2 year guarantee on them for free. O.k. so they aren't the cheapest of items but they do an amazing job, not only straightening the hair but also curling it and manipulating it in any way you want! It just so happens that purple is also my favourite colour and so these were a must buy, the hairdryer isn't brilliant but I'm used to big ones and that's only a travel one, the bag is gorgeous and the clips are useful too! I definitely would recommend them as they are gorgeous and work brilliantly however be careful where you buy them from as I hear that the purple GHD's in particular are prone to copycats! So ensure you check the hologram found on the cord otherwise you won't have GHD's or that guarantee!
I would never have bought myself a set of GHDS, or even a set of straighteners. My sister had tried to straighten my incredibly curly hair many times with it only to look like a 1980's rock band bad hairdo.
My brother & partner bought me the GHD purple IV limited edition styler hair straightener gift set for Christmas. Its a beautifully presented set, a small hairdryer, straighteners, in their own seperate bags. These bags velcro onto a roll up bag with handle(has an inbuilt heatproof mat), which also holds 2 hair clips. This is all packaged up, along with an instruction dvd, in a beautiful, matching, purple box.
When we were due to have a family meal, mainly out of politeness I tried them out.
I tried to watch the dvd, but for some reason my dvd player refused to play it, so I tried to find it online, or at least some sort of guide, and had no luck. I decided to just get on with it, trial & error.
The hairdryer is small, travel size, and took ages to dry my hair (mid length, and lots of it). I personally have to use a few more clips to hold back hair out the way, the 2 included just arent enough. The Straighteners warm up very fast, are easy to use, a nice size to hold and actually straighten my hair! I was shocked, my hair was only slightly "fluffy" without any hair products in, with a bit of serum it became lovely and straight, something I'd always dreamed of having.
These straighteners make it so I could even flick the ends inwards, or out, add a wave or even a large curl. And if I forget to turn them off, they do it themselves after about 30 mins.
I now think they are definately worth the money if you have very curly hair like mine, they give you the versatility of many more hairstyles that other straightners just cant do.
These are the best hair strengtheners I have had. My hair is straighter than before and it last for longer. I would definitely recommend GHD strengtheners. They are also great for curling you hair, so pretty much everyone will be able to find a use for them. The purple edition is so nice, the colour looks good and there is a slight pattern with looks great. The box comes well presented and you get a lovely travel hairdryer, clips and instructional DVD as well as a carry case that has a heat proof mat and a purple box that I keep all my hair things in.
The price may look a little expensive, but GHD are a top brand and they sell quality products. They also offer a great two year warranty, if anything happens to them within that time period they will either fix them or send you a new pair which gives you piece of mind but GHDs will often far outlast this warranty.
I was given these GHD's for Christmas, they were purchased from Toni & Guy for £120. Admittedly I don't actually need straighteners because my hair is naturally poker straight. My sister got her hair curled at the hairdressers and they used these to style her hair and it looked really good! I had no idea before this that hair 'straighteners' could achieve curls too. I have had cheap curling tongs in the past and they have never got hot enough to curl hair and for the curl to stay curly.
This GHD set is one of the best brands for straightening hair and can allow for such a high selling price because so many people continue to buy into the product. This particular set is a limited edition and there have been other colours introduced such as pink, black and silver, leopard print, dark, white and purple, as well as the original black sets.
There are three stylers:
GHD IV Styler: For ultimate all round style. The limited edition straighteners are also designed on this standard styler. These create curls, flicks and waves and are the most popular styler.
GHD IV Salon Styler: For longer, thicker and afro hair. The irons on these are thicker. These are perfect for bigger, softer curls.
GHD IV Mini Styler: For shorter hair and mens hair. The iron plates are narrow and can create tighter curls, flicks and waves. Ideal for fringes or short hair.
This particular GHD set includes:
* Mini Hairdryer
* GHD straighteners
* Heat Resistant roll bag which has a silky bag to home the straighteners. This has velcro attached to the main bag and allows for the bag to be removed for travel purposes. The holdall is purple and has a floral design all over it. It rolls everything into a bag and fastens with magnets.
When using the hair straighteners they heat up within seconds and soon bleep when they are ready to be used. The cord is long and doesn't tend to get in the way of styling. This is most useful for salons where they need longer cords. To create a curl you run the irons between strands of hair and turn 180 degrees and away from your head down to the ends. Depending on whether you want to create a tight curl you go as close to your roots as you can and run the irons slowly down to the ends of your hair. Alternatively, if you want a looser curl you can start curling from midway and run the irons faster down the hair.
I can curl my own hair quite effortlessly using this product and it doesn't take a great deal of time. However, it is hard to curl the back of your hair and so you may need to ask for assistance if you have a friend nearby. Due to the angle of your hand it may not curl the hair properly from behind and you can't see what you are doing unless you craftily set up some mirrors. My profile picture shows me with curly hair, this was done using GHD's - my hair is naturally straight.
My sister owns the mini GHD styler and these are also very good at curling hair, even better than my own in my opinion. The irons on the limited edition stylers have the purple colour in them so I think this causes the irons to not get as hot as they could, compared to the original metal irons. It took me a few attempts to get the right technique to achieve decent curls with the aid of youtube, although this set does come with a CD showing you how to create certain looks. This is helpful to some extent but is a little 'staged' so youtube will give you a more realistic example. When using the styler don't be alarmed if you see steam coming from your hair! This is normal. You might want to buy a heat resistant spray to use on your hair so it reduces the damage heated products can do. If you have dry hair you should use this anyway and minimise the amount of time you use it. I wouldn't recommend using this daily to straighten your hair as it will dry it out. I have previously bleached hair and after using these the ends of my hair gets very dry and frizzy. My hair was normally very soft and silky and never frizzed so beware those of you who's hair is prone to being dry naturally. If you spray your hair after styling it it will stay in place for longer.
I haven't used the travel hairdryer properly as it isn't very powerful but it is ideal for if you are travelling. The set came inside a lovely purple box with a velvet lid. The design is flawless, it looks like a quality product and it is a quality product. I highly recommend this but feel that the limited edition sets may not compare as much to the original black stylers.
i bought my mum this set of purple ghd's for her christmas last year. i love the colour and are by far the most reliable straightners. the set contained the straightners, travel hairdryer, carry bag and clips. very well presented in a velvet purple box. i have a black set of straightners which i have had for 3 years and still in immaculate order. i wouldnt use any other straightners. they heat up within seconds and are perfect for doing curls as well as straighten. they are very lightweight an have a very long cord as well. for the price this is a fantastic buy. the carry bag is very handy to transport and has multiple compartments for each equipment and also additional items such as brush, and is also heat resistant. when my straightners eventually die i will definetly purchase a new set of GHD's. they are the nicest limited edition ones around and very unique in colour. i would have bought them for myself if my mum didnt ask first.
These straighteners are gorgeous! - The purple plastic casing has floral print on it, and these are a perfect gift. They come with a small compact hair dryer perfect for travelling, and a smart travel bag. After using GHDs, i would never consider another kind of straightener, they leave my hair feeling silky and smooth, as well as long lasting straightness. I have been getting several compliments, and it is a significant improvement on the look and health of your hair from other straightening products. Don't be tempted by £5 straighteners you can purchase, spend the little bit more and get a reliable, very long lasting and extremely high quality GHD's for the most professional hairstyles. I can straighten my hair perfectly, or i can curl it with the gorgeous GHD curls - a CD is also included on how to do this with step by step instructions for beginners.
My boyfriend bought me this GHD Purple set last christmas. I have always just bought £20 - £30 hair straighteners and would never have spent that much on GHDs for myself. But that was before I tried them! Now i realise that if i had of bought the GHDs in the first place it would have been a much better investment than to keep replacing the cheaper straighteners!
The set comes in a lovely purple box with a velvet-like lid and consists of the straighteners, a travel hairdryer, clips and a cd-rom of how to get the best out of your straighteners.
Firstly i loved the colour of these straighteners and the design - they are slimline, a lovely purple colour with a swirly pattern and they look very nice resting on my dressing table! They also have this great feature where they beep when they are ready to be used, rather than guessing when they are hot enough to use, they take less than a minute to heat up! They straighten my hair really well and i also use them to curl my hair by twisting the iron. So they act as a curling aid too.
The hairdryer is the perfect size to take on holiday, it is small and folds down even more compact. The only downside is that the lead is a little short. Both the straighteners and the hairdryer then fit into the carry case which make them perfect for taking on holiday etc.
I would recommend this set to anyone who needs a new pair of straighteners as they are worth investing in. Also the set would be great as a present and for anyone who travels a lot.
I got these straighteners for xmas last year. There my first set of straightners. I;ve tried other straightners but these are definatlety the best! My hair which is normally wavy goes poker straight and stays straight even if it gets wet. The straightners don't fry my hair like other ones do and are very quick to heat up, less than 30 secs. There also good at curling hair but are hard to do the back. The straightners also turn themselves off after 20/30 mins of not been used which is a life saver since i've sometimes left the house without turning them off. These are very good straightners and suggest you get them. They come in a lovely box as well. The hair dyer isnt very powerful but its only very small and very easy to take around with you. The heat mat is very useful and so are the clips. The colour and pattern of the straightners is gorgous. They look nice and do a great job. There defo worth the money.
Admittedly, the box does look very presentable. And the heatproof roll bag will come in handy. As will the sectioning clips. But really...
GHD's straighten your hair. Seems obvious, but you really need to think about whether you actually want hair like that. Really flat, limp, poker straight. I went through the straight-hair phase, but never had GHD's, though I did want them. But they were too expensive. Looking back, I'm glad. This review is based on the GHD Purple IV Limited Edition Styler Hair Straightener Gift Set that my sister got for her birthday.
The amount of heat the starighteners subject your hair to is terrible. And it shows. They really damage your hair and actually make it smell like, well, burnt hair I suppose! That's even with piles of heat-protective product.
I know the hairdryer is only meant to be a travel one, but it's really not great either.
Personally, I'm not up for paying a lot of money to damage my hair and make it look terrible. I don't know about you...
I never in a million years thought that i would ever buy a GHDS, i thought they were way too much money to spend on something for your hair. I was sick of going to work every day and by the time i got there my hair was like a birds nest so i invested in some purple GHDS. And all i can say in FANTASTIC!!! My hair takes half the time to style and stays straight all day without going frizzy. I will never be able to go back to using anything else but these, even if i did have to buy them again i definitly would without a doubt. They are easy to grip and very light weight . Just watch your ears as they get unbelevably hot!! They are quite pricey, i paid £100 but i use them everyday so get the moneys worth out of them, defintly worth having.
For a long time, I always thought GHD's were ridiculously overpriced. I used a pair of Tresemme ones that cost £30 and they seemed to do the trick.
However, after having my hair done at the hairdressers and realising what a difference GHDs made to ordinary straighteners, I completely changed my mind. I then went on to borrow my friends for a week on holiday and finally my hair stopped going curlly throughout the day. I decided that I had to have them.
Fortunately, I recieved the GHD Purple IV Limited Edition Hair Styler as a Christmas present as I really couldn't bare parting with £150.
Amazingingly when you think about how much you get in the pack, you can justify the expense. The pack contains :
- Limited edition purple GHD IV straighteners,
- Heat resistant purple GHD roll mat
- 2 GHD sectioning clips
- GHD travel hairdryer
It comes in a glamourous purple velvet box When you open the bag it rolls out to into 2 zipped pouches, one with hair grips in and another as a heat mat. In the zipped compartments there is the straighteners and the hairdryer. Also there is an instructional dvd, which tells you how to create curls and so on.
On the straighteners, there is a light and the straightenrs beep after 30 seconds when they are ready to be used. The straighteners heat up to 230 degrees and they glide through
