“ Brand: Lush / Type: Gift Set „
I was given a Best Wishes gift set from Lush for Christmas by a dear friend who knows I love their products. I believe it was priced at around £8 but unfortunately is a seasonal limited edition gift box so may be hard to find now, I know this may render this review useless in some peoples eyes but Lush fans such as myself are always looking for out of season items to buy on Ebay or even to make a note of for next Christmas!
The gift box is beautifully wrapped in a thick snow white embossed wrapping paper and expertly tied with a festive red and white ribbon, it looks almost too good to open but the delicious array of smells coming from the box was enough to convince me to pull the ribbon and take a look at the goodies inside.
Best Wishes contains three festive Lush bath products which have been chosen exclusively from their limited edition Christmas products; one of each Christmas Kisses bubble bar, Marzibain bubble bar and Mr Butterball bath ballistic are all gently supported by popcorn (Lush fans will know what I mean!) and they all smell and look absolutely wonderful!
I have now used all three products and didn't think much of Mr Butterball although I loved the two bubble bars which had been included. I think the selection of products is excellent and each one has a very Christmassy feel to it making this seem like an even more special gift box than usual from Lush.
My particular favourite is the Marzibain purely because the smell of almonds and marzipan is my favourite in the whole world and this is gloriously almond scented. This bubble bar was enough to do two baths and I still got masses of bubbles each time and not thin boring bubbles, the foam created was thick and rich and barely went down at all in the 45 minutes I was in the bath. I found this to be extremely cleansing and moisturising, it left the water extremely soft and silky and almost resulted in me falling to sleep in the bath it's so relaxing!
Saying that, I also loved the Christmas Kisses bubble bar. This didn't produce quite so many bubbles even though I used the whole bar, but the wonderful cinnamon aroma which radiated through my entire bungalow bought a little festivity into an otherwise grey and dull January evening. This bar I also found to be very relaxing which in part is due to the warm cinnamon scent, but the bar also feels so moisturising in the bath water that it calms my body and mind for a while.
Mr Butterball also smells beautifully festive, it has a cocoa-vanilla scent which almost makes me want to take a bite. Unfortunately this was one of those products which doesn't live up to expectations, being a ballistic it isn't as visually impressive as a bubble bar and it seemed to lose much of it's lovely aroma when dissolved in my bathwater. Mr Butterball is neither moisturising nor drying, but having loved the Butterball ballistic in the past I was rather disappointed that this didn't give my skin the same level of nourishment.
I was thoroughly impressed with this gift box which was so kindly chosen for me, despite my disappointment with Mr Butterball I would still include him in the box if I were a Lush bigwig because he's such a wonderful looking little snowman that this ballistic is the visual representation of Christmas. I had four baths out of these three products and so wish they were available all year round, Marzibain is currently available as part of the Retro range so I shall buy a few next time I order online before they disappear completely. I would certainly buy this as a gift for someone, the added bonus being that this beautiful present comes already wrapped and looks much tidier than I could ever manage myself!
