      A lovely gift set

      *~*Introduction*~*

      For Christmas 2011 I received lots and lots of toiletries and beauty items and basically was in my element at the thought of testing them all out. For some reason though I seemed to get several Charlie gift sets and also the EDT's in singular form. I'm really not complaining at this, it's just I have never worn Charlie fragrances in my life (for no particular reason) so was quite surprised at the plethora of Charlie related gifts from different people that I received!

      One such gift set which my husband's Aunty bought me is this - 'Charlie Pink' which I will now focus on in this review.

      *~*What is included in the gift set?*~*

      The gift set I received features 3 items:

      *1 x 50ml perfumed body lotion:

      The body lotion is presented in a tube like vessel which is made from a soft plastic material that feels almost rubber like to squeeze. It is in a shocking pink colour and is certainly very feminine and girly in every aspect of the word. The lotion features an easy to remove screw off lid and this acts as a base to stand on if storing up right. The lid is a grey/ silver whilst the logo and lettering on the tube is in a contrasting white font so it is certainly eye catching.

      On unscrewing the lid we can see the lotion itself is actually quite thick and also a bright white in colour. The lotion has a strong hint of the Charlie Pink fragrance which is very noticeable yet not too overpowering and the lotion absorbs into my skin within seconds of applying.

      ~~~~~~~
      *1 x 75ml Body Spray
      The body spray is a 'standard' size of 75ml and is not an uncommon sight on the shelves of my local Superdrug store. The can matches the body lotion perfectly being in a metallic bright pink with the Charlie Pink logo emblazoned on the front. There is an easy to remove lid and underneath an integrated nozzle which once pressed to break the seal is very easy to use from then on. The spray emits at a rather rapid pace, and though the nozzle only features one tiny hole the spray disperses well and evenly and features a toned down version of the Pink fragrance.
      ~~~~~~~~

      *1 x 30ml 'Pink' EDT

      I wont go into too much detail here, as I have already previously reviewed the EDT on it's own which I received singularly also at Christmas. The EDT is a sumptuous warm fragrance that features top notes of Red Fruits, heart notes of Tangerine and base notes of Vanilla.

      It is quite a strong fragrance on first applying but does fade leaving a soft fruity/ vanilla essence on the skin for several hours after first applying and has a much more sophisticated scent than I imagined it to have. (For a more in depth review of the EDT please see separate review).

      ~~~~~~~
      All the items are of a substantial size, and as I have since used almost all of the body spray and body lotion I would say they last for quite a while giving plenty of usage per application.
      *~*Price, packaging & availability*~*
      As I didn't actually purchase this myself I'm not aware of the actual price paid, or indeed where my hubby's aunt picked this up as she tends to buy things all year and put away for such occasions as Birthdays and Christmas. I have had a quick search online and have seen this particular set ranges in price from £5 through to £9 so it really depends on where you shop, though most large supermarkets, chemists or household stores (Home Bargains, B & M's, Poundstretcher etc) will no doubt have more of a selection particularly in the run up to Christmas. Alternatively by typing into a search engine there is a whole host of places online that this and other Charlie products can be purchased from.
      Packaging wise this came presented in a rather attractive cardboard box which was predominantly white with different shades of pink triangles on the front. The box has a 'squashed square' appearance being wider towards the top and also the front features a cut out panel made up of a transparent plastic so all the products are clearly visible.
      *~*My thoughts on using the gift set*~*
      I love gift sets so I'm a pretty safe bet when it comes to Christmas or Birthday presents as most people know I wont be disappointed in receiving this type of gift. As it happened I received a few varieties of Charlie EDT's and gift sets and I have to say I think this Pink variety is actually the nicest.
      I found using the body lotion a dream to use as the fragrance is subtle but very noticeable and on applying to my skin it soaked in with ease and left it feeling silky soft. There was no tacky or sticky residue like some lotions can leave it feeling, just a velvet like matte effect that felt very moisturised and smelling wonderful.
      I used the 3 products all consecutively on quite a few occasions finding the lotion to be a perfect base for making the fragrance last on my skin. After spritzing the more delicate body spray from top to toe I added just one or two spritzes of the EDT to my pulse points and found the whole fragrance to layer gently and linger on my skin for several hours.
      I have to say the body lotion was the first to get used up as 30 ml doesn't really last too long, despite being modest and applying sparingly. Because a small amount goes quite far then this sufficed for a while, as did the body spray - though I found myself being a little bit overzealous and got carried away with spritzing it on so it didn't last as long as it possibly could have!
      The EDT is by far the most paramount of the three items contained in the gift set as the quality of the fragrance transcends all my expectations. It may look rather plain and dare I say 'cheap' in a basic glass bottle with an uninspiring lid but this is far from insipid when worn. The fragrance starts off strong but simply 'melts' into a beautiful aroma once the initial dry down begins and leaves a warm, buttery scent on my skin which is mainly vanilla though with a hint of red fruits and smells far more expensive than it is.
      Having seen online that the EDT alone can cost anywhere from £5 upwards I think this gift set is extremely good value and all 3 products when worn - whether alone or layered together - are all very good value in their own rights.
      Though I was a little apprehensive on receiving this (and the other) Charlie gift set I have thoroughly enjoyed using the 3 products and would be pleased if I received this or something similar for future Birthdays/ Christmas presents.
      Don't be fooled that this is a teenage gift set either as Charlie Pink is not only a very feminine but very sophisticated fragrance as well and smells beautiful.
