Elegant Touch/Paris Hilton Party Girl Lash
by MalibuMands My sister found some Elegant Touch/Eylure Paris Hilton collection false eyelashes on sale in Superdrug and, although they did look somewhat cheap in the pack, I was surprised by how nice they looked once she had applied them - full, but not drag queenish and, whilst they so add length to lashes, they're not too long. After seeing the ... successful results with those I looked online and saw that there are actually four styles of lashes in Elegant Touch/Eylure's 'Paris Hilton' range [Party Girl, Natural Beauty, Hollywood Glamour and Super Girly], so I bought the PARTY GIRL design to try. The main reason for picking the PARTY GIRL design was because the band of the lashes is embellished with a gold, diamante embossed design, so I can be a bit lazy on nights out and don't need to spend ages on artful eyeshadow application to make an impact [when I'm trying to make a special effort with my makeup, you can bet I will mess it up at the end and then not have the time to start again]... They are the perfect width for my eyes, so I didn't need to trim them [if you find that you do, trim them from the inner lashes]. I was expecting the decorated band of the lashes to be quite heavy, but once the lashes have been applied they're very light, so I forgot I was wearing false lashes. I found them much easier to apply then any other pair of falsies that I've used, due to the band making the base of the lashes less flexible and hard to line up against your real lashes. And a wider band also means that you use a bit more glue, so once applied the lashes remain securely in place until I take them off again. I find it best to apply false eyelashes by using a free-standing mirror placed in front of me - that way I can stare straight ahead and slightly downwards, whilst steadying my elbows on top of the dressing table. Make-up artists and magazine advise placing the lashes in the middle of your eye and then moving it into place, but I personally prefer starting from the inner corner of my eye and working outwards. No hard or fast rule - whatever works for you [the lashes come with a tube og good quality lash glue]. The best thing about the PARTY GIRL design is that the diamantes on the golden band are actually a design embossed onto the band, not actual diamantes; diamante look stunning when they catch the light, but they make the false lashes heavy, as well as tending to fall of the lashes after a few uses. A few years ago I had a fancy pair of diamante studded lashes by Hard Candy, but they kept detaching from my eyes as the diamante weighed them down and a diamante was missing when I pulled the lashes off only a couple of hours of wear. Another plus point is that the criss cross placement of the lashes on the band, paired with semi-realistic length and volume, helps them to blend in well to my real lashes. So there is no need to apply mascara to bind the false lashes together with my real lashes, so I can keep on reusing the falsies as they still have that 'fresh out of the box' look to them. I've worn them three times so far and they still look new, so they'll last for a while yet. Plus, during the festive run-up Elegant Touch/Eylure started putting two pairs of the lashes in each pack, so if you pick up a double pack somewhere you'll be getting a bargain. - - - - - RRP - - - - - £5.49 I've found all four styles of false lashes and the matching four styles of false nails in selected branches of Superdrug, Boots and Tesco. Amazon UK also stocks them. My sister has bought some of her Paris Hilton lashes in Home & Bargain. I think she said that she paid £2.99 for hers. Elegant Touch/Eylure have just launched a 'Katy Perry' range. Read the complete review |

Elemis Lip Revive
by angelboouk Elemis is a beauty Spa brand. As well as offering various Spa treatments, Elemis offer a range of beauty products which can be used at home. The range includes everything from skincare to mens products. ~Lip Revive~ Lip Revive was formally known as Lip Rescue. It is part of the Time To Spa range from Elemis. Lip ... Revive is a lip balm which is ideal for lips that are sore, dry or chapped. The lip balm offers protection to the lips as well as nourishing them and keeping them perfectly soft. The lip balm is petroleum-free. Lip Revive is formulated using a few key ingredients as well as being rich in vitamins and plant collagen : *Calendula - calming and healing *Cocoa butter - softens and oils *Jojoba seed oil - penetrates and locks in moisture *Sunflower seed oil - soothing properties *White mint - cooling and refreshing *Peppermint - improves circulation ~Packaging~ Lip Revive is housed within a small, plastic tube which is semi transparent. It is shaped like many premium lip balms from the likes of Clarins and Clinique. There is a small hole inside a screw off lid and the lip balm can be applied directly onto the lips as and when required. It can also be dispensed onto a clean finger and smoothed over the lips. The tube can be recycled and once opened, the lip balm should be disgarded after 6months. ~Price~ Elemis products are available online through www.timetospa.co.uk or in department stores such as Debenhams. A full sized Lip Revive includes 7ml of lip balm and is priced around £14.30. ~My Thoughts~ Although I like using tinted lipglosses, my lips often dry out and look rather unpleasant. To combat this, I like to offer them some moisturisation in the form of a lip balm. I previously used Clarins Moisture Replenishing Balm and found it to be very good at hydrating my lips. I received my Elemis Lip Revive as part of a gift set my sister made up for my birthday in March. I have only got around to use it about a month ago as I had a few other lip balms to test out. I have used a few Elemis products before and found them to be of a decent quality though often not worth the retail price. The tube is nothing fancy but offers a secure home from the lip balm. 7ml doesn't seem like much but there is plenty of balm inside the tube and a little certainly goes a long way. The hole is the right size to dispense the right amount of lip balm. My preferred way to apply this lip balm is by dispensing a small amount onto my finger. I have applied directly from the tube and found it slightly awkward to apply the balm all over my lips. ~Minty Lips!~ The consistency of the lip balm took a while to get used to. When you think of a balm, you may think a solid stick of wax. Lip Revive is actually a liquid lip balm which is a cloudy white colour on dispensing but once applied to the lips, goes on completely clear. Before applying to my lips, I can appreciate the sweet, minty aroma which is quite uplifting. Once I dispense a small amount of this lip balm onto my finger, it melts slightly and becomes rather runny. Applying the liquid to my lips is very easy though it does feel rather unusual. The balm feels rather oily on my lips but spreads incredibly well allowing a tiny amount to cover all of my lips. The feeling I experience on application is quite pleasant with the various mint ingredients offering an initial, cool and tingly sensation. Despite being petroleum-free, this lip balm is quite like Vaseline. On application, it sinks it fairly quickly and I can feel any dryness in my lips being soothed. It is quite relaxing yet invigorating at the same time. With there being so many different ingredients, I wasn't sure what to expect. The balm instantly penetrates into my lips giving them an instant boost of moisture. As the balm works its magic, a small amount settles on the surface of my lips. If I rub my lips together, they feel soft and silky smooth like there is a thin layer of residue left. It tastes slightly minty but not tacky or sticky. There is a gentle sheen present on my lips which looks very natural and overall my lips look soft. The cooling sensation allows my lips to feel fresh for a good hour or two and after that, I can still detect softness even after drinking or eating. ~Reviving and Soothing~ With regular use, I have found the condition of my lips to improve. This is quite an intensive lip balm as it does penetrate my lips well and protects them from weather and the elements of daily life. My lips feel hydrated and soft for most of the day. I apply this in the morning and although the minty residue disappears after a few short hours, the hydrating aspect remains throughout the day although cannot be seen. ~Conclusion~ Whilst I appreciate £14.00 is a high price to pay for a lip balm, the quality and effects from Lip Revive make this very much worth the price. My tube has lots left in it and I am confident there will still be some lip balm left after the recommended 6month period. I do like the effect Lip Revive has on my lips but I do prefer the Clarins balm due to its thicker and less oily consistency. Overall a 4 star recommendation from myself :) Read the complete review |

Elegant Touch Rapid Dry
by Claireizadiamond ~The look of the product~ The can is instantly recognisable with its vibrant purple lid and modern labelling which is printed onto the can (my can is different from the picture that Doo Yoo has but is the same product) The label also states how the formula contains Vitamin E which helps to improve the condition of your nails ... and the surrounding cuticles. The spray is easily used with the push down nozzle which is in the can and sprays like a deodorant or hairspray. It also gives instructions of the level at which you must spray the can from your nails (10cm) and also that it dries nails within 60 seconds. Finally there are the warnings like to keep away from children and that it is easily ignited so not to smoke whilst using the product. ~The price~ and ~Value for money~ Many shops now sell the product such as Boots, Superdrug, Asda and Tesco. It is fairly priced at around £3.57. The amount of sprays is not stated on the can but I would say you could spray both hands at least 15 times (this is just a guide) which I feel is fair value for money at around £0.23 a spray (again this is just a guide as this depends on price paid divided by amounts of sprays in the can). ~The smell~and~the look/feel of product~ Upon spraying this product looks like a mist of water which then seems to form a smoky cloud look (a clear cloud more so) I would advise that pets and children are out of the room as I discovered when first spraying my dog tended to sneeze even when she was on the opposite side of the room. It has the usual artificial chemically smell that most products seem to have (although my boyfriend says that it smells like pear drops?!) The feel of the product when on the pads of the finger tips is fairly greasy and I always feel the need to wash my hands before the 60 second dry time is up. Once spray on nails, I feel as though it looks shiny and also has a water droplet effect sometimes which once dried has disappeared. ~Personal experience~ I use this product on a regular basis as I apply my own acrylic nails, I often spray this once I have applied the acrylic to act as an activator and to dry the acrylic faster (some may advise against this, I have no certifications to say this is safe or good for the acrylic but it works for me and I have never had any problems) I tend to only have to wait for around 4 minutes until the acrylic has hardened and is ready for filing down. Once this has done and I have applied the top coat of nail polish I then spray a final mist of the Rapid dry and within 30/40 seconds my nails are dry and ready for me to carry on with daily life. However like normal nail varnishes even with the Rapid Dry nails are never truly safe from smudges and damage of the polish for 24 hours. ~Final notes~ I would rate this product 5/5 with room for improvement with the smell and also I would prefer a bigger can size as well, currently the product can only be found in the 125ml size which means I need to regularly top up as I also do family and friends nails. Please feel free to comment on anything you wish to know about the product but which I have not put in this review, I have tried to write about everything I would wish to know but a few things may have escaped my mind.
