E.L.F Professional Shine Eraser
by zombieflesh My new favourite cosmetics company is E.L.F., which stands for Eyes, Lips, Face. They are an online retailer and their UK web store can be reached at this address http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk. They have several different ranges of make-up, including their Basic, Mineral, and Studio lines. I love wearing make-up and have great fun ... experimenting with colours and different looks. It's nice to have lots of products to play around with but there are always a few items that become must-haves and form the basis of most of my 'faces'. This product is great for extending the life of your make-up and freshening up your look. This Professional Shine Eraser is part of the Basic range and comes in a small packet containing 50 sheets. It costs just £1.50 and can be found in the 'tools' section of the web store. E.L.F. say: "These amazing little sheets instantly absorb oil, minimize pores and mattify shiny skin. Woven texture eradicates shine and keeps skin matte for hours. Green Tea Extract helps re-texturize skin, masking facial imperfections. Travel pack fits neatly in your bag or pocket for on-the-go touch-ups. Contains: 50 sheets." The Shine Erasers come sealed in a thin cardboard packet. The back of the packet has a re-sealable flap which opens up to reveal the Shine Eraser sheets. The sheets are stored loosely inside the packet and can easily be removed one by one. The packaging seems effective, the only problem I have with it is that the cardboard gets scuffed and dirty if you are carrying this around in a handbag frequently. Directions for use: Gently pull out Shine Eraser sheet from envelope. Blot sheet in T-Zone. Flip sheet and blot all other facial areas. Use whenever skin needs to be mattified. This Shine Eraser is designed to be used during the day for those prone to oily skin. I have an oily T-Zone and after a day at work in the office I often find that my skin is starting to look shiny and oily by about mid-afternoon. These little Shine Erasers are handy for carrying around to touch up your look and refresh your make-up. The small flat packaging is perfect to slip inside a handbag or even a wallet, and this makes it easy to carry around for touch-ups on the go. These are very easy to use, you simply remove one sheet from the packet and then press it directly onto your face in any areas that are looking noticeably oily. I usually dab at the skin rather than rubbing so as not to remove my make-up or cause irritation to my skin. I start off by focussing on the forehead, nose, and chin as this is where my problem areas are. One Shine Eraser sheet is enough to cover these areas. After blotting the excess oil away with the Shine Eraser, I then usually apply a light dusting of loose powder to finish off and cover up. The sheets themselves are quite different to the others I have used before. They are incredibly thin and feel like crinkly tissue paper. They do have a smooth surface but when you look at the sheets it seems as though they have grains in them as there are flecks of different colours showing through. I have had no problems with these ripping and they are durable enough to resist tearing as you are applying over your face. Afterwards I find that my skin looks much clearer and has the matte finish that I prefer. This lasts then for several hours and is a great way to extend the life of your make-up. I often use the Shine Erasers when I am going out for the evening straight after work, as they allow me to have a clean, freshly done look without requiring me to clean off all my day's make-up and start again for the night. E.L.F.'s budget range has some fantastic items and this one performs very well. I will certainly be buying them again, and would recommend them to anyone else who also has combination skin type prone to shiny oily patches. For just £1.50 this is a real bargain and as there are 50 sheets which give you 50 uses, you are only paying 3 pence per sheet! E.L.F. are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free! Read the complete review |

E.L.F Professional Shine Eraser
by sadiebeanz I bought this product primarily to use at work. I work permanent nights in a poorly air conditioned office so looking human when the freshly made-up day shift wander in is a mission and a half. I have naturally oily skin and after a few hours my T-zone begins to look decidedly shiny. Cue Elf Professional Shine Eraser. This ... product, like many from the Elf range is cheap as chips. Going for £1.50 on eyeslipsface.co.uk . It is packaged in a cardboard pack, slightly larger than a credit card and contains 50 blotting sheets. The slim design fits easily into a makeup bag or pocket and possibly even a purse or wallet for the club-bound. The blotting sheets are basically as you would expect. Thin papers similar to cigarette papers thin or baking parchment. The pack instructs you to use one sheet on your T-zone, turn it over and use the reverse side on the rest of your face. There really is no technique to the application, you just dab it over your moosh. The oil from your skin is visibly absorbed by the paper, adding the all important 'Urgh, did that come from my face?!' factor. The product claims to absorb oil, mattify shiny skin and minimize pores and although I did not notice any difference in the visibility of my pores I was happy with the result. For £1.50, 2 out of 3 aint bad, right? Another reviewer mentioned that the product leaves her makeup looking patchy. I have to say I did not notice this problem myself, possibly because I use a powder foundation, but it might be something to look out for. I would recommend this product to friends because it's cheap and it does the job and after a long shift, that is exactly what I am looking for. Read the complete review |

E.L.F. Powder Puffs
by Tracy_1127 A while ago I bought an E.L.F face powder and at the same time I decided to buy a set of 4 powder puffs. Don't ask me why I added the puffs to the order but I did and it's a good job I did too because when the powder arrived I used it a few times only to find the puff supplied with it fell to pieces within a few days. Feeling a bit ... smug I pulled out the packet of 4 puffs and used one of those. The powder puffs come in a pack of 4 for £1.50. E.L.F is of course www.eyeslipsface.co.uk and lots of their items are £1.50 so very cheap. The pack is plastic and it tells us they are "soft, cottony puffs to make powder application flawless and easy" and "great for quick touchups and eliminating shine". The puffs themselves do feel very soft, the fluffy side is indeed a nice soft white cotton and the other side is shiny material with "e.l.f professional" printed on it in a sort of dark brown colour. I don't think they would wash if I'm honest as they seem to feel like they have some kind of papery layer inside but at £1.50 for 4 I wasn't expecting something that lasted forever and needed regular washing. I use powder mostly on my eyelids as a base for eyeshadow and not much at all on my face itself. These puffs are about 2 inches in diameter and slim so they are perfect for detailed areas such as the eyelids and they smooth the powder on brilliantly. Still feeling very pleased with myself I used a puff and then went to put it inside the compact to put it all away and found the problem with these puffs. Oddly E.L.F have made their puffs too large for their own compacts! Unbelievable I know but the compact would not close at all. The puffs are probably a few millimetres too large so they get caught under the edge of the lid and no amount of fiddling and moving them would make them fit. I handed it to my partner to try and he spent the next few minutes muttering to himself and did get it closed but it was more a case of forcing it in and of course once I'd opened it again I couldn't get it to fit again. So they are nice little puffs, soft and gentle and do apply powder very nicely but if you want to use them with the E.L.F face powder you have to leave the compact slightly open and store it somewhere it won't get germs in it and won't fall completely open. That's not very good planning as far as I can see and it's a real shame because the puffs are so nice. The other downside is not being able to wash them but I'm more of a throw them away and use another kind of girl anyway. For those reasons I'm giving these 3 stars but if like me you mostly use a puff for applying to eyelids these are excellent for that, just don't expect them to fit the E.L.F compact!
