Hemp Moisture High Balm
by turps33 I bought this balm when The Body Shop were having an online sale. Seeing the tins only cost £1, I bought two, despite never using the range before. When the parcels from The Body Shop arrived, the first thing I did was put aside the gift sets intended for presents -- thank you The Body Shop for cheap Mother's Day gifts -- and ... then checked out the hemp tins. First impression. The tin was small, cute, and worth £1. The tin itself is a screw opening type, and has a picture of a hemp leaf printed on the lid. The tin was easily opened, even by my other half who has hand issues that make gripping an issue. The back of the tin has a peel off label that revealed the ingredients list, which on my tin were in a language I couldn't read. However, on The Body Shop site it lists them as: Glycine Soja Oil, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil, Cera Alba, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii, Parfum, Glyceryl Oleate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Citric Acid, Limonene. The site also says this is a product perfect for elbows and knees, and I'm sure it is, but what I wanted to use it for was my badly cracked heels. Unable to wait, I decided to try the balm, and found that the top of the product has a waxy film that you need to get through to use the actual product beneath. Once under that film, I scooped up some of the balm, and quickly found out you really don't need to use a lot. Seriously, just a little is the way to go with this balm. It's thick and while it does sink in nicely, it will leave you skin slightly greasy. So be aware if you're applying it before bed or going out. However, it works beautifully. After a few days my heels did feel softer, the cracks weren't magically fixed, but really, I never expected them to be so. A word of warning. The balm has a smell that can be really unpleasant. My other half has really dry skin, especially around his eyebrows, so I massaged in some balm, and he spent the next ten minutes complaining about the smell. I would have thought he was exaggerating, but after having a bad cold that left my nose sore and the skin over my lip rough and dried out, I tried some balm there, too. And it worked, soothing instantly, but man, the smell made my eyes water for a few moments. Obviously, smell is subjective, and I know some people who have used this product and quite liked the smell, but, just something to keep in mind. Still, despite that issue. I would recommend this balm. It does what it says and is excellent on dry skin, so, a thumbs up from me. Read the complete review |

Hemp Moisture High Balm
by rolandrat ===The Product=== Body Shop Hemp Moisture High Balm - Dermatologically tested. For very dry skin. 45,ml, 1.4 grams or 4 ozs. Comes in a silver tin with a black and green screw on lid. Made in the UK and use within 12 months. Instructions - massage into chapped dry skin. Against animal ... testing. Ingredients include Community Fair Trade: Hemp Seed Oil, Beeswax, Virgin Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Babassu Oil, Olive Oil and Soya Oil. ===Cost=== I believe the recommended price is £6 but currently it is not available on the Body Shop website but still for sale on ebay. I bought mine form the Body Shop site for £1. ===My Opinion=== I have never tried any of the Hemp range before as I always go for the fragranced fruity or floral items but when this was on offer for £1 I gave it a try and bought two tins. The tins are very cute and I like the screw off lid - it sort of gives it a bit of a retro feel. The balm itself has a funny sort of smell, which I have been told is the same for all the hemp products, but I do not know. Personally I do not dislike it as such but it is not especially peasant or refreshing, just a bit weird. I am getting used to it but prefer a nice smelling hand cream. The balm itself is a creamy colour and the texture is very much like Vaseline. It does moisturise my hands and feet quite well but is only something I would use when either going to bed (for my feet) or at home for my hands - it is not the sort of cream you would be able to put on your hands and then expect to walk straight out of the front door. I am a bit neutral on this product - it is being used for my hands as they do get dry in the winter, as do my feet, but I have previously found the Body Shop Body Butters just as good and they also give you a lovely fragrance as well. This was ok for £1 but I would not want to buy it for the full price and I think you might just as well buy a cheap tub of Petroleum Jelly or else opt for something a bit more enjoyable to use such as a Body Butter. It tends to leave quite a layer on your skin, quite good from the moisturising point of view but it does not feel as nice to use as hand creams or butters. The tin is cute and I will use it for other things after it is empty, possibly to carry a little Body Butter in my handbag. I am not sure why this is no longer available on the Body Shop website; maybe they just stop stocking it through the Spring and Summer months. ===Star Rating=== 3 stars. ===Would I Recommend?=== Yes. ===Website=== ww.bodyshop.co.uk Read the complete review |

Tesco Nail Polish Remover
by emmad5689 I don't wear nail varnish very often as my nails seem to take ages to dry and no matter what I do they smudge so it has to be a special occasion for me to go to the hassle and because of this I don't see the point spending a lot on a nail varnish remover. I bought the Tesco's own nail polish remover as I knew I was getting ... low on a shopping trip and found that it cost just under £1 for a 250ml bottle which I thought was decent value. Obviously being a Tesco brand you can only buy this through Tesco. You are able to see through the bottle and see the purple liquid inside but the bottle is a white clouded plastic, there is a screw cap on the top which is a bright purple in colour. The nail of the product is written in large letters down the bottle in Purple and white making the contrast of the white purple and pale purple liquid quite attractive. On the rear of the bottle you get the instructions for use, the ingredients and the promise that it will remove nail polish quickly and effectively. To use the product you simply unscrew the top and soak some tissue or cotton wool in the liquid before pressing down on the nail and removing in sweeping motions, I personally find cotton wool better as tissue tends to break up if too wet. This product really smells strongly and is like a chemical smell like the majority of nail polish removers and your hands do smell of it for a good while after use, this is solved by simply washing with soap or a handwash after use. I found this product worked really well and removed my nail polish without problem, I tend to go for bold colours too so sometimes it takes a few uses to fully remove all colour from my nails but this wasn't the case with this product. This is one that I will buy again as I don't see any reason to pay out more for the supposedly superior brands. Read the complete review |
