Over the years, with three daughters who have all had long hair, my household has seen many brushes, but the Avon advance techniques cushion brush still remains my favourite. The one in the picture above is an older version, but one that I have owned. Since then Avon have slightly modified the shape and changed the colour to a Christmassy red. The current colour is a darkish girly pink with a sort of satin sheen. The brushes are an average size, just over twenty four centimetres in length (I've just measured mine with an internet ruler) and seven centimetres at the widest. The brush part is made of black plastic bristles with pink bobbly ends, set about eight millimetres apart in a black rubber cushion. The brush handle is chunky and made of a smooth pink plastic. There is a hole in the bottom of the handle, but I'm not sure why, maybe you could hang it on a hook? This brush is a pleasure to use. My daughters and I have always had shoulder length to waist length hair and it never fails to get rid of all tangles with a minimum of pain. The little bobbles on the ends of the bristles mean that there is no scratching on the scalp, just a smooth, almost therapeutic, brushing sensation. The cushion brush has a recommended retail price of £5, but it is invariably on some sort of offer, currently it is selling for half price, £2.50, along with the other brushes in the range (there are five brushes and a comb in the advance techniques range). I have never paid full price for any brush or comb from Avon and generally wait until they are half price or less - I like to have a spare in case mine goes missing. If you don't have an Avon representative locally you can view the current brochure and order from it on line. You can also buy the brush from Ebay or Amazon, but with added postage it is likely to be more expensive. As I mentioned before, I have owned several advance technique cushion brushes over the last few years. This isn't because they break, but because they seem to disappear into thin air - one of the downsides of having daughters who borrow your stuff and claim not to have seen it (I'm sure I would find a collection of them if I went through their drawers and cupboards). The bristles also remain in the cushion bed - I've noticed that with some makes these fall out. This brush feels nice to hold, is sturdy and glides through your hair leaving it feeling smooth and silky. I will definitely continue to buy them for my family.
My just below the shoulders hair is thick and naturally curly and a problem I've repeatedly encountered over the years is finding a long lasting hair brush, as until a few months ago I was purchasing two or three cheaper brands every year. The problem I was experiencing was that each brush would only last a few months; after which the tiny beads located on the ends of the bristles would gradually fall off and the bristles would scratch and irritate my scalp. Another problem that was occasionally occurring was that the brush would tangle in amongst my curls and the only way to remove it was by tugging and subsequently, pulling out several clumps of hair. As I had recently purchased and was absolutely thrilled with Avon's Advanced Techniques paddle brush, I decided to make a purchase of their cushion brush and this review discusses my thoughts. The Advanced Techniques range has clearly been modernised as instead of the rather plain brush as displayed in Dooyoo's image, Avon have decided to add some vibrancy where all of the brushes are in vivid cerise. Consequently, I've submitted a new image to Dooyoo and have requested they update it. The brush measures approximately 23 cm x 7 cm and offers an easy to grip thick handle, which is smooth and comfortable when I'm styling my hair. As I already owned the paddle brush, which I use for blow drying and when I wear my hair loose, my main purpose for the cushion brush was for those occasions when I want to wear a ponytail or up style. The appearance and feel of the brush is of a high quality and despite it being manufactured from plastic, it looks and feels robust unlike the cheaper brands that I had previously purchased. The brush offers a good number of black coloured bristles, which are well protected with tiny cerise coloured balls, which are secured on the ends. The bristles are firmly attached to the black soft cushioned area that is firmly attached, so there are no fears of it coming loose. The brush effortlessly glides through my hair and unlike the cheaper brushes I had previously purchased the bristles easily negotiate knots without ripping out my hair from the roots. An issue I would experience with my other brushes was a build up of static, particularly when using on freshly washed and blow dried hair, but I cannot speak of any problems when using Avon's cushion brush. Whilst the brush meets the high quality of the paddle brush, I experienced major difficulties when attempting to slide it through my hair to create a ponytail or an up style. As I wear my ponytails quite high I need to apply a little pressure as I attempt to tightly gather all of my hair. However due to the fact that the soft cushioned area flattens itself during the process, I am unable to brush all of my hair into the desired position. Consequently, I've had to revert back to one of my cheapie brushes solely for this purpose, which is rather disappointing. The brush displays an opening, which is located towards the end of the handle should you have the desire to thread a length of ribbon and hang it up although I prefer to store my few brushes neatly in a drawer. Unfortunately, this brush hasn't had as much use as has the paddle brush due to the reasons discussed above and to date, all of the tiny beads are still remaining. Despite the fact that it hasn't served its purpose as far as I'm concerned, I can still highly recommend this brush, as it is very gentle yet effective on the hair although I need to search for an alternate for my specific requirements. The brush generally retails at £5, but at the time of writing you can make a purchase either online or from Brochure No 14 where it is listed at half price. I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading
I own quite a lot of Avon products as way back I had a fantastic rep and always liked to purchase something from her as often as I could. Up until recently though I hadn't been using any of the brushes and the likes I have from Avon due to them still being packed up in boxes but the other day I came across them whilst decluttering my flat and kept this one along with a few others as I am always mislaying my brushes and combs to live by the rule you can never have too many of them about the place! The Brush Itself: In total this measures 23.6cm x 6.7cm and I have this in the bright pink plastic colour. It has a nice lightweight feel to it this one and has a nice width of long handle to it making it easy to hold and use and it has a small hole one end of it so you can hang it if you want to and then a large head with a black cushion to it with lots of long flexible, plastic bristles to it with pink plastic 'heads' on them to stop the brush dragging though the hair. This is a very solid feeling brush and with white writing down the handle telling us that it is an Advance Techniques product it looks as nice as it feels and at the moment this brush is only available to purchase in the pink option as far as I am aware. As it has a cushioned head it is kinder to the scalp as it moves as you use it though its sturdy. The bristles move slightly too and this is not only a great detangling brush on my long hair but I even use this to help style my hair if need be. Its excellent quality as I have already pointed out and I think at £5.00 a brush (this is currently on offer for just £3.00) you can't really go wrong with this one. It has a nice shape and a large brush head and I've had no issues using this at all. Only available from Avon
I have been buying this brush from the Avon catalogue for the past 10+ years, therefore I have probably had at least 20 of them over this time. This is an Avon product so it can only be bought from your local Avon rep or from the online Avon shop. It varies in price tremendously but usually retails for about £5. However, you can often find it on offer so I wait for these times when it can be bought for as little as £2.25. The brush is a little bit different to that one in the picture above. The brush part is the same but the outer casing and the handle is a deep metallic red in colour. This gives the brush a nice look and I think they look far better than the older style. The brush has a nice smooth handle and it is easy to hold and grip. The head of the brush is of a good size (probably about 4 inches by 2.5 inches) and there are plenty of bristles which are of good quality. Brushing your hair is quick and easy with this brush. My hair is naturally very wavy and frizzy, it also gets very knotty very quickly. However, brushing my hair with this brush is quick, easy and pain free. It leaves my hair looking tidy and it glides through my hair really easily. These brushes usually last me around 6 months before they start looking a mess. This is because although I clean the hair out of the brush at least once a week, the bristles start to get layers of dead skin and hair stuck to them and they just look horrible so I buy a new one! The bristles dont snap or become loose so if you are prepared to clean yours better than I do mine then it could well last an awful lot longer! I will continue to buy this brush. I have been using them for 10 years and its easy to see why, they are a good price and represent great quality. They leave my hair tidy and remove knots quickly and easily. Recommended for anyone with any hair type.
I have recently bought the Avon Advance Techniques cushion hair brush and this is my review of the product. I needed a new hair brush and when I saw that my Avon book had a sale on there range of hair brushes I decided to try one out. The Avon book had a whole selection of brushes to choose from but the one that I decided to go for was the Cushion Brush. The price of this brush is usually £4.75 but there was a big price drop on the Avon brushes and so I only paid £1.45 which I thought was a very good saving. The brush is different from the picture on Dooyoo as it is a more modern design and it is a deep red colour of plastic and not black as in the picture. Also the head of the brush is more of an oval shape. I have been using the brush for about two months now and I like it very much. Since I have been using this brush I have ordered two different items - one comb and one smaller brush - from the same range in the Avon range. This is because I like the quality of the Avon cushion brush I already have and think it is a sturdy brush and it feels nice to use on my hair. I think that the brush is not to rough to use on my sensitive scalp either which I think is because the brush head is very cushioned and padded. This means that the bristles are quite flexible to use and it doesn't scratch my scalp to much. Also I think the bristles are not to hard and even though they are made of hard plastic of a good quality it does not feel like they are scratching my head or anything like that. I also think that because the bristles are spaced quite far apart it means that the brush is good at sorting out any tangles I have in my hair. As I said already I have been using the Avon cushion brush for a couple of months now and I haven't had any bad experience from using it and when I look at the brush it still looks as if it is in really good condiition so I do think it is a very hard wearing brush and will last a good amount of time. I think the brush is cushioned enough to be used on young children's hair as well as used for long hair or thicker hair too. I do think it is a good family hair brush and could be used for the whole family and this is handy for family holidays as you don't need to take several hair brushes away with you. I would recommend giving this hair brush a try out and think that it is very good quality and am very pleased at what I paid for it. I would pay full price for it though as I think it is very sturdy and it will last me a good amount of time. You can buy the hair brush from your Avon rep and the usual price is £4.75. It can also be bought online from the Avon website.
This is the only hairbrush I will use on both myself and my 6 year old daughter. Both of us have very long hair (down to our bottoms almost!) and thios brush just brushes the hair beautifully. It goes through large tangles like a hot knife through butter without pulling clumps of hair out and it is so comfy to hold in your hand. Not only is it great for our long hair but it is brilliant for my husband's short hair and my little 2 year old boy's fine hair also as it is such a great design. Like another reviewer I was concerned when I saw that Avon had changed the design of the brush since I last bought mine (over 5 years ago) but I am pleased to say that although the colour has changed and the shape is now slightly different, this brush still lives up to all of my high expectations. Every penny is well spent when you choose this brush in my opinion. I have tried several more expensive alternatives in the past and every time go back to my good old faithful Avon Cushion Brush.
My hair is always quite unmanagable, it is generally quite wavy when it dries but i sometimes wear it straight and sometimes curly. I have the paddle brush from Avon for blow-drying my hair and bought the cushion brush when it was on offer for £2.00. The brush is now red with silver bits and the head a more oval shape but i imagine it does the same job, the brush is sat on a cushion and the bristles of the brushes are nice and gentle. Avon describe the cushion brush as an all-rounder, perfect for all styles. I use the cushion brush when I get out of the shower and I know I am going to let my hair dry naturally. The brush easily detangles my hair but doesn't pull it completely straight so when my hair dries it has quite a nice curl to it. (I find some combs pulls the hair really straight so that it dries a bit wavy and limp). The quality seems quite good and none of the plastic bits of the end of the bristles have come off. The bristles are also still nice and straight, I find these start to bend on cheap brushes after a bit of use. I would recommend this brush, it normal retails at £4.75 but seems to be on offer a lot, it is currently £2.40 so I would wait and buy it when it is on offer. This brush is great when I'm using it 2 detangle but it isn't fine enough for when I'm straightening my hair so I use a comb. So I wouldn't quite call it an all-rounder but it is a really good brush.
Note: the brush shown in the image above isn't the same brush as the one they are now selling in the Avon brochures. I think it must be an old picture because nowadays the brush is red and black with some silver bits and is nothing like the black and grey one shown at the top. It is still pretty much the same shape though, except with a more rounded tip, instead of the square tip shown in the picture. So, not long ago I needed a new hairbrush. This was just because mine was getting a bit old and some of the plastic bits on the end of the bristles can come off, so it always stratched my head when I used it. As I have really curly hair, but which I sometimes have straight, I wasn't too sure which brush to choose as a curly style one wouldn't go if I was wearing my hair straight, but a staight style one wouldn't go for when I wanted my hair curly. I chose the Cushion Brush because it is described as being 'The all rounder. Perfect for all styles.' And it also wasn't too expensive. My mum has the Paddle Brush, and so does my sister, and they were both happy with the brush, so I decided to try one from the same range (advance techniques at Avon). The price for this brush is normally £4.75 which after pricing up a few others in Boots, I don't think is too expensive at all. This is only £2.40 in the current brochure (brochure 8) and it was about only £2 when I bought it, so it is on offer quite a lot. It works really well and I would defintinelty recommend it. Its a great brush at a great price and I got it ages ago and none of the bristles or plastic bits at the top of the bristles have fallen out yet. It really is an all rounder, too. It can be used for backcombing, normal brushing, the possibilities are endless.... Definitely recommended
I brought my Avon cushion brush a while ago now, I remember paying around £4 for it and that it was not on offer at the time (yes i do occasionally buy from Avon without having to be on offer) The brush has since changed in design and colour and is priced now at £4.75. I really hope that the new version of this brush has not changed in design too much as it is one of the best brushes I have ever owned. Looking at the picture in the lastest campaign the brush itself seems the same with only the handle design and colour changing. I have several brushes in the house and they are used by myself and all my children, this brush tends to be the family brush which is normally found in the drawer of the sideboard which the children use when getting ready for school. The brush is definately used daily and having owned it for around 3 years now, with no faults found, I reckon this is great value for money. A cushion brush should always be the prefered option for daily brushing as it is less damaging for the scalp and hair itself. This Avon brush has large oval shaped cushion pad with numerous individual brushes sticking out of it, each indiviudal brush end has a plastic nobble on the end to ensure your scalp is not damaged and after this time and use, all mine are still intact. The cushion is soft enough to add padding when brushing but durable as it has lasted over 3 years of daily use. I recommend this brush for all hair types, including children, my daughter has really long and thick hair and this is always her prefered choice of hair brush. Great value for money in my opinion, especially as at the moment the brush is in the 3 for £5 offer....... another great offer from Avon!
I have used Avon hair brushes ever since I was a child and have always found them easy to use and hardwearing. My favourite is their cushion brush. A few years ago Avon redesigned it slightly, I think for the better. Instead of being grey and black it is now striking ruby red and black. The actual head of the brush is made of strong lightweight metal which continues down to form the easy to grip handle. Near the base of the handle the brush gets fatter which I find stops your hand slipping off the end. The brush has a small hole in the handle end to enable you to hang it up if you want - again this has proven really useful. Each one of the bristles has a tiny red piece of plastic attached to it preventing damage to your hair or scalp. At first my heart sank when I saw this because over the years I have been bought brushes from other manufacturers that have had that bristle design and not lasted very long. Within a few months half the bristles were bare and the brush looked a mess. So far neither myself or my mum who also has one of these brushes has had any problems like that. Unfortunately I find the brush is too big to put into my handbag and a bit bulky when going on holiday. A travel brush would be a welcome addition to the Avon brush range - maybe in the summer they might launch one. Compared to the high street Avon's cushion brush is very good value. Normally it retails at £4.75 but like I have previously mentioned in my reviews Avon frequently have special offers so its worth keeping an eye out. Also as they have a 90 day money back guarantee if you don't like it you can always return it and get your money back.
I can never seem to find a brush in my house when i want one, so when i saw that Avon was selling this cushion brush for the bargain price of £4.75 i thought that it was worth a go, even to keep incase i can't find my usual brush. The brush is mainly black in colour with a silver band around the top of the handle where the brush head attatches, and has a silver logo of the Advance techniques on it too. The bristles are black with a silver tip. The handle of the brush is a really good size to hold onto, and this seems to be really sturdy too. Some brushes that i have had in the past have been really flimsy and when you come to a tug in your hair the brush head stays where it is and the handle comes off in your hands, thats a lot of good isint?! The bristles on the brush are spaced further apart than other brushes that i have used and this has its good points and bad points, i like the fact that they are further apart as they give a really good cover area, but then at the same time if you have a large tug or knot it is able to get the tug out, but for smaller ones they can go un-noticed, and then another brush may need to be used to get rid of these. This brush can be used on any hair type, i have long straight hair and i find that it is fine for mine, and i find that it is also really good for using when you are drying your hair too, as it seems to react well to the heat and allows this to keep my hair straight when drying as i sometimes get the odd kink or so. Overall i wold say that this brush is good, its not the best in the world but at the end of the day its only for brushing your hair, and for the price it was i cant really grumble.
I usually get my Avon booked delivered to my house and sometimes buy the od thing if something cacthes my eye. I had a few bits ordered from there the other week and saw this brush for a bargain price of 4.75, so thought I would add it to my order. When it arrived I was really surprised at the quality of the brush for the price I paid. It was black and silver in colour and and has a really sturdy handle and head. The bristles are smooth and spaced evenly apart so it goes trhought the hair really easily. The cushion helps the brush to glide throught your hair without breaking any ends or causing any breakages int the hair. This brush has made the condition of my hair much better, as after I have used it, my hair is shiny and not tangled at all. The quality is really good on the brush because on some of the cheaper brushes you buy there is glue bobbles on the bristles and the bristles easily pull out of the cushion. Howevere with this the bristles are sturdy and the cushioned base has a good bounce and is gentle on your hair.
I needed a new hair brush but wasn't prepared to pay anything near the £10 - £18 price tag in Boots, but I wanted one that was sturdier than the cheap ones I'd seen in Tesco for a couple of pounds. I had no idea that Avon even sold hairbrushes until I was looking to make an order up to get a discounted Christmas ornament, even better the brush was half price so I had a bargain. This is a cushion brush which means it's gentle on your hair as the thick bristles will give more than a hairbrush which has fixed bristles along a hard spine. The cushion is perfect and allows neither too much or too little movement of the bristles; too much and the tangles would not be forced from your hair, too little and your hair may well be ripped out by the roots if it gets as tangled as mine does after washing. I like the feel of the handle of this hairbrush as it is a comfortable fit and doesn't slide around in my hands even when they are damp. The handle is quite chunky and again this makes it comfortable to hold, although my hair is short and I have no interest in giving myself a big style so I tend not to be holding the brush for longer than a few minutes! My daughter has long hair and brushes hers like a demon, she's used this brush in the past as apparently it's been available for years and said it coped well with the brushing and lasted for ages. I have had no problems whatsoever with this hairbrush in the two months I've been using it daily, none of the bristles have worked loose and generally this is a well constructed and sturdy brush which I think will last me for a long time to come. The hairbrush retails at £5.00 or thereabouts, I paid £2.45 for it when it was on half price offer so definitely worth you looking out for next time it is reduced in price. To be honest though even at full price this is a bargain as it's much better than my previous hairbrush which cost almost £10 last summer and fell to pieces within four months!
The Cushion Brush from Avon's Advance Techniques is one of the best brushes I have ever owned. I got it on a special offer which made it almost a freebie and it is only £4.75 at full price. The reason I really like this brush is because it is solid and good quality. The handle is smooth and easy to grip and there is no sign of any tacky or cheap materials being used (such as glue blobs as I have noticed with some cheap brushes). The bristles are nice and firm and none of mine have come loose in the six months since I started using this brush. The cushion has a good spring to it too which makes brushing my hair with this really easy. This brush is suitable for most hair types and I especially recommend it for short to mid-length hair. Really long hair would benefit from the paddle brush though this brush would likely still cope with long, thick hair because it is so well made.
Ideal for most styles /
