I've used eyelash curlers since I was a teenager. They look a bit scary, but I find them a really handy tool in my beauty routine. As the name suggests, they give your eyelashes a bit of a curl, which helps to emphasise them and open up your eyes without the need for mascara. Of course, you can apply mascara too and emphasise your eyes even more!
I used to have a pair of Body Shop eyelash curlers but they were going a bit rusty after nearly a decade of use, so I decided to invest in another pair. These ProCurl Lash Curlers are the result of a collaboration between Benefit (quirky makeup brand) and Tweezerman (beauty tool brand). Both brands have good reputations, so I was happy to splash out on one of their products.
I bought mine from ASOS, but they aren't available on there any more. I've seen them on the Debenhams, House of Fraser and Benefit websites, however. They are priced at £15.50, which is expensive, but I saw the price as an investment.
The curlers came inside a clear plastic box with a vintage-style picture of a woman on a pink background, typical Benefit packaging. The curlers themselves are silver-coloured and resemble most other curlers on the market. Three replacement pads are included for the curlers.
The curlers have been designed with a narrower top bar in order to fit all eye shapes and reach every lash, even on deeper set eyes. I personally don't have deep-set eyes, but I was happy at the thought of a better curl.
It's important to curl your eyelashes before, not after, applying mascara, or else your lashes might stick to the curlers. Using eyelash curlers should be a pretty straightforward process, but Benefit have provided instructions:
"Fully open curler, insert lashes and center them. With eyes open wide and pad positioned at the base of lash line, hold curler handles firmly and gently squeeze. Repeat to create a soft, sweeping curve, moving all the way up to lash tips. Apply mascara".
Having used curlers for years, I had no problems with these ones, although I did notice that they were easier to use: because of the narrower top bar, I could get them closer to the bottom of my eyelashes. This resulted in a more dramatic curl.
I am happy with the results of these curlers. My eyelashes are pale, and I do need mascara to make them properly noticeable, but I can clearly see a positive difference in my lashes after using these. They certainly look more curled and make my eyes look more attractive.
Over a year since my purchase, I continue to be happy with my Tweezerman for Benefit eyelash curlers. The metal has not rusted or faded in any way, and they still look as good as new. They work just as well as they always did, too, which is the most important thing.
I highly recommend these eyelash curlers. However, they are a bit expensive, and there are many cheaper versions available. I am happy with my purchase as the curlers are particularly effective, and I see my buy as an investment. However, it's up to you to decide if you want to part with a lot more cash for the sake of a slightly more effective product.
