Advantages: works quickly, removes polish without being harsh, good price, smells nice

Disadvantages: can leave nails feeling a little dry

I have naturally long nails and like to keep them looking their best by giving myself a mini manicure once a week. I vary my nail polish according to my mood or outfits, and have a huge selection of shades to choose from. It all has to come off in the end though, and I like to have a reliable nail polish remover that can clean the colour off quickly and easily. I have recently been using this Clean Off Nail Polish Remover from Boots, which is part of their Expert body care range. It's available for the cheap and cheerful price of just £1.25 for a 150ml bottle.

Boots say: "Change your nail colour as easily as you change your mind with Boots Expert Clean Off Nail Polish Remover. Boots Experts clean off nail polish remover is enriched with oil, so unlike other removers that can really dry out nails, this gets the job done in a jiffy and helps keep nude nails looking and feeling great."

The bottle is a standard plastic affair with a screw top lid. The plastic is translucent so it allows you to see the product through the bottle and easily judge how much you have left. The nail polish remover itself is a gorgeous girly pink colour and has a surprisingly nice sweet smell to it.

Directions for use: Moisten cotton wool with the nail polish remover and wipe the nail gently from cuticle to tip to remove all traces of nail polish quickly and effectively.

To use this product I place a cotton wool pad over the neck of the bottle and tip the bottle up so that the nail polish remover soaks into the pad. I then rub the cotton pad over my nails one by one until all traces of the nail polish have been removed. The nail polish remover gets to work quickly and removes softens the polish so you only require a few swipes to get your nails clean without any harsh rubbing. Sometimes if I am wearing a particularly strong colour, or one with glitter in then it will take more effort and require a couple of pads until the job is fully done.

Afterwards, my nails look and feel squeaky clean. They can feel a bit dried out, but never stripped or damaged. I usually find that washing with a moisturising hand wash balances things out again and also removes any traces of the polish remover from your skin.

Boots Expert Clean Off Nail Polish Remover works effectively to give a quick and easy clean. I would recommend it as it is a real bargain, cleans well and has the added bonus of smelling nice. A good product from the Boots Expert range.
