Advantages: Conditions your nails
Disadvantages: If anything, smell
*Introduction*
A few years ago I had acrylic nails put on for a holiday that I was going on. Whilst they were on my hands looked fantastic but the price eventually got too much for me to continue having them refilled every few weeks so I decided to take them off. Unfortunately, my nails were extremely weak and brittle. I was gutted at the state of them and the nail polish remover that I was using didn't seem to help. It dried them out and left them feeling awful. This is why I went in search of a nail polish remover that cared for my nails whilst removing the polish and found Boots Expert Conditioning Nail Polish Remover.
*The Claim*
Some nail polish removers take off a little more than you bargained for, leaving nails dry and brittle. Boot Expert Conditioning Polish Remover is different.
*About the Product*
Boot Expert Conditioning Polish Remover sweeps away polish in an instant and is enriched with apricot kernel oil and pro-vitamin B5 to help keep nails in tip top condition.
*Application*
You will need a piece of cotton wool or a cotton pad to use this nail polish remover. Moisten the pad with a generous amount of the product. Then wipe your nail gently from the cuticle to the tip to remove all traces of the nail polish quickly and effectively. I suggest using one cotton pad per hand. You could probably get away with using one cotton pad for both, but I think the results would be slightly less successful.
*Price and Availability*
You can buy Boots Expert Conditioning Nail Polish Remover exclusively from Boots stores. If you don't have access to one or prefer to buy online, you can also buy it online from www.boots.com.
This nail polish remover can be bought for the small cost of £1.25. This is a very low price when you consider what a superb job it does of removing the polish from your nails quickly and easily. And compared to the £2 that you will pay for Cutex nail polish remover, you are making quite a saving without sacrificing quality. This product proves that name brands are not always better.
*My Opinion*
The packaging: Boot Expert Conditioning Polish Remover is packaged in a clear bottle with a screw on lid, although it looks pink due to the products colour. The design of this bottle is plain, boring and clinical in appearance. In fact, it looks like an item that should be in a work cleaning cupboard or in a hospital. Boots certainly won't be winning any awards for appearance but the price more than makes up for this.
Colour, texture and smell: The colour of this nail polish remove is a light orange/peach but don't be scared that this will be transferred onto your nails as it does not. It is water like in texture which leads to it being easy to use. As for the smell, it is similar to that of any other nail polish but actually don't find it to be as strong and I think there is the slightest orange smell to it. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't disguise the strong smell of acetone, but it is not as unbearable as some nail polish removers by any means.
Longevity of the product: This product should last you a fair amount of time. I would estimate about a 4 or 5 months and this is when used regularly by both myself and my mum. Take care not to spill the bottle whilst the lid is off as this will reduce the time that you will have this product for. I have done this several times in the past and it is actually what led to me needing a new bottle of nail polish remover as well as the fact that the tubs were a little too expensive to buy on a regular basis.
This nail polish remover promises not to leave nails dry and brittle. So does it help to keep nails in tip top condition? It certainly does. Using this nail polish remover has helped to moisturise my nails and I am no longer left with them feeling dry and just plain horrible after I have removed nail polish from them.
I just want to make it clear that as well as being a conditioning, this works brilliantly at removing any trace of nail polish. Your nails will be left looking clear and as though you haven't even been wearing nail polish in the first place.
*Would I Recommend This Product?*
For the price alone, I have to recommend Boots Expert Conditioning Nail Polish Remover. It is a nail polish remover that works quickly and easily without having to rub so hard that your fingers actually hurt. So if you are looking for a low priced yet excellent nail polish remover that also conditions and cares for your nails stop the search as you have found it! It doesn't quite make them soft and smooth but then this is not what they claim to do. It does not leave your nails dry though which is what you are trying to avoid.
Boots Expert Conditioning Nail Polish Remover is not suitable for use of false nails so don't even bother! I have made this mistake in the past. It will melt them slightly and leave you attempting to pick them off yourself because they end up looking so bad. In addition, even if you could use it on false nails, the conditioning quality would be wasted as you would be cleaning acrylic.
*Overall*
Putting the smell to one side, Boots Expert Conditioning Nail Polish Remover is a really good value for money product. In the past I had been completely and utterly useless in applying nail polish. I am still not fantastic but thanks to this nail polish remover I have had the ability to start over again whenever they looked really rubbish! Practice makes perfect... or at least I am hoping it will soon.
Summary: A superb nail polish remover
