Advantages: Removes polish quick and easily
Disadvantages: Smaller than other pads you can get
I hate nail polish remover, it smells so vile, even when I buy an acetone free version, this coupled with the fact I hate the feel of cotton wool means that I have to look for an alternative to removing my nail polish. I discovered these a few years back and I have used them ever since. The pads cost £1.50 and are available only in Boots.
I chose the moisturising variety as I have really bad nails that are weak and like to peel and split. These pads don't contain any acetone and also have added vitamin E and lanolin to moisturise nails and provide nourishment. You can also get a conditioning version of these pads which I also use from time to time.
The pads come in a small round container that is made of plastic, when your first open it there is a foil seal to ensure freshness. Once you have used the pads you can then screw the lid back on tightly to keep in moisture. When I first opened the pads I was suprised at the smell, it was actually quite pleasant, it was slightly floral and no nasty chemical smells. The pads are small and I tend to find I need one for each hand or foot. The pads are fairly moist when they come out of the container but not overly so. You need to hold the pad on the nail for a few seconds before wiping the nail varnish off. These pads remove the nail polish with ease, they have a slight rough texture so if the nail polish is difficult to remove you can scrub a little. The pads didn't fall apart during use but one thing I did notice was my fingers were stained from the nail polish and that the pads left a greasy layer on my nails, if you are removing one colour to paint another I would recommend washing your hands well first and scrubbing your nails otherwise the greasy layer prevents your nail polish drying properly.
I would recommend these and give them 5 out of 5, they are easy to use and take up hardly any space in your make-up bag.
Summary: Easy to use and compact
