I was looking around the No 7 range in Boots hoping to find something to spend a free £5 No 7 voucher on, I didn't really need any new make up and didn't really want to spend an extra couple of pounds on something I didn't really want or need! Then I came across these cleansing sponges for £5.50 (although they are cheaper on their website), paying 50p to try something new seemed like a good deal and I liked the idea of a 'little facial every day' as it says on the packaging. For your money you get two cleansing sponges in a clear plastic re-sealable zip envelope with a card insert containing the product details on. The sponges themselves are a teardrop shape and are made from plant fibres (I'm assuming that this probably means you could compost them to be eco-friendly), and are a pale yellow in colour. The sponges a bit like natural bath sponges in that they are uneven and pitted with little hole, but they are more firm and dense, while still being quite soft to touch. To use these cleansing sponges you have to dampen them with warm water and then apply cleanser to them, I normally put quite a small amount of product on. After applying the product you then use the sponges to wipe over your face in small circular motions. The texture of the sponges helps to remove dead skin without being abrasive. After using the sponge to cleanse my face in the same way I would normally you then have to wash the sponge with a little soapy water, rinse and leave to dry. When the sponge dries it becomes quite hard, but regains its sponge like feeling once you dampen it again. After using the sponge I think my skin has definitely felt smoother. I like using the sponge to cleanse my face with as opposed to using cotton wool and cleanser because it doesn't feel like I have so much product left on my face as a film after use. I think it might be because the sponge is wet when applying the cleanser to my face but it definitely feels like it doesn't leave a lot of product on my face. I think I also like using the sponge to cleanse my face with because it is wet and in my head it seems more like washing your face which equals cleaner skin! I did try and use a foaming facial wash with the sponge and it didn't work out so successfully so I think its best left to use with normal cleansing lotion.
