Until recently i'd been sharpening my eyeliners with a normal pencil sharpener, but came across this in Boots on my last shopping spree reduced from £5.75 to £3.50. I don't think that i'd of paid full price for it if i'm honest, however for £3.50 i'm happy with my purchase.

The sharpener is quite unusual looking, the best way to describe it is that it's a little black plastic 'box', with a hole in the top where the pencil is inserted. To sharpen the pencil, i simply twist the pencil and check it after a few twists and stop once sharp enough. The top of the box, which has 'No7' in golden writing, pulls off and exposes the sharpener inside, with the pencil trimmings. The box/sharpener can then be emptied into the bin and closed again.

This sharpener is a good idea and it's a great item for when you can't get to a bin straight away after sharpening an eyeliner (at work, on the bus etc) or simply can't be bothered to empty the sharpener straight after sharpening the pencil, and the clever design avoids any messy wood chippings getting everywhere as it can be emptied into the bin without any mess. The sharpener is very quick and effective, it usually takes 2-3 turns and my pencil is nice and sharp. It seems to remove big chunks rather than little bits so it's obviously quite sharp. The actual blade is protected by plastic so there is no worries of cutting yourself by mistake upon opening it.

The sharpener copes with both my chunky eyeliners and my average eyeliners as the hole is slightly bigger than the average pencil. It's not very deep however this does not affect the effeciency of the sharpener.

The design is very simple, sleek and overall very compact. It is chunkier than an average sharpener but it does the job well so i'm not going to complain and is still compact enough to fit into a makeup bag or purse. I definetly would not pay full price for this and am glad i got it reduced, however if you are after an effecient, quick and stylish eyeliner pencil sharpener then this is probably one of the best available.
