      Fab nail scissors

I seem to always be losing scissors, I've been through a couple of pairs in the last couple of years. I recently replaced the last pair I lost with these ones from Boots own range.

The picture in dooyoo's catalogue must be a little dated as the toe nail scissors I purchased come inside different packaging. The packaging for these nail scissors is mainly gold with a transparent front so you can see the scissors inside. After removing them from the pack there is a clear bit of plastic over the end of the scissors to stop them opening and damaging the packaging or from causing someone a nasty injury.

The scissors themselves are around ten centimetres in length, the majority of this length is actually the handles, the blades are only around 2-3 centimetres long. They are totally straight until you get to the part where you put your finger and thumb inside, this part is a nice size and I can get my fingers in easily with room to spare so I would imagine most people could fit their fingers in without a problem. The scissors are easy to open and the blades don't chafe at all when being opened and closed.

My big toe nails are quite hard, despite this I don't need a lot of pressure to get the scissors to cut my nails. Most toes require two snips of the scissors but they leave my nails nice and short without any nails breaking with little flakes falling off. Although the blade part of the scissors is quite small, they are still easy to use and I don't find them awkward to get a nice angle on my nails.

I paid £4 for my toe nail scissors and I'd definitely recommend them. They are made fantastically and are easy to use. Although the blades are small they do the job perfectly and they aren't hard work to use.

        Boots toenail scissors.

        The Scissors

The scissors are Boots own brand and are specifically for your toenails. The scissors cost me £4.00 which I thought was very reasonable. They are also included on the 3 for 2 offer which includes cosmetics and other beauty/bath products. They are made from stainless steel and have long handles with straight blades to allow a healthy straight cut. The scissors and also specifically designed for use on harder nails. I wasn't sure I had particularly hard nails but I just need some toenail scissors as these were the only pair I could see do just purchased these. The scissors come in a see through plastic pouch and on the end of the blades in a small plastic protector which protects the ends of the blades from bending or any other damage. The scissors are a darkish grey colour and feel really strong. The scissors enable you to cut your toenails correctly and safely without cutting your nails to far down and ending up with sore toes. I used to use nail clippers on my nails but stopped doing this when I took a huge chunk out of my nails whilst clipping them and this made my toe very sore as the nail broke quite far down revealing very pink, sore skin.

        Using the Scissors

Before cutting my nails I always ensure my feet/toes are clean and dry. The scissors are really easy to hold and are comfortable when using them. The scissors aren't too stiff and easily open ready to trim my nails. I find that the nail on my biggest toe is often quite brittle and sometimes bits break off. I used the scissors on this nail first. The scissors cut the nail straight away without me having to close the scissors too much and putting too much pressure on the scissors when closing them. The nails were cut straight and cut very easily. I was impressed. I continued to cut the rest of my nails and had finished them within just a few minutes. My nails looked much better now they had been given a trim and looked shorter than what they were before. The scissors were quite sharp in the fact that I didn't have to struggle to cut my nails. After finishing with the scissors I gave them a quick wipe with a baby wipe and replaced the small plastic cover on the end of the scissors which protects the end of them.

        Overall Opinion

I think these scissors are really good value as they are very strong and also work brilliantly. On the back of the packet it recommends using clippers if you have really hard nails so I'm not sure how good these would be good for harder nails. The scissors cut my nails perfectly without taking too much of the nail off and leaving my skin sore. You don't have to wipe the scissors after use, but I do this for hygiene reasons. I am the only one who uses the scissors and I wouldn't really consider letting anyone else use them as I get funny about other people using my beauty things, especially nail scissors. I would certainly recommend these to others as I don't find any faults with the product.
