      Pretty powder purchase!

      Introduction:

      I absolutely love Clinique make up. I am always wandering past the beauty counter to see what I can buy next and what their special offers are. If I have finally allowed myself to buy something I try and get it when they have one of their 'buy two products and get this make up bag packed with trial sized gifts' offers on. I find I get really good value for money with all the trial sized products you can get. The real downside is that I end up trying loads of products which I then want to buy as well! I had convinced myself I needed a new face powder, and after speaking to the lady on the beauty counter about my needs she advised me that this face powder would suit me. I didn't need much persuading before purchasing it and hurrying home to try it out.

      Price and availability:

      I paid twenty one pounds for this face powder and think that is a pretty standard price. I haven't looked around on the internet to see if I can get it cheaper, but I am always very aware of buying fake products. I also like buying these products over the counter so I can make the most of the special offers, and also they register you then send you special offers through the post which you can then take advantage of. There are Clinique make up counters in a lot of big department stores, such as Fenwick's, Debenhams, John Lewis and House of Fraser.

      Actual product:

      The powder comes in Clinique's latest standard cardboard box. I always try and keep the products in the box for as long as possible to minimise the damage and dirt which seems to be added to products from random leakages in my make up bag! Within the box is an added powder brush, it looks like a lovely brush, it is silver in appearance and a pop up one. It is a reasonably good brush, especially for a free addition, but I prefer to use a bigger bristled brush (this was also recommended to me by the lady on the make up counter too). I never end up using these brushes, so I would rather they didn't add them and knocked the price down a tiny bit!

      The powder comes in a shallow clear plastic container with a screw on and off lid in a silver colour. It is fairly secure and has not unscrewed and leaked by itself (yet!) Once you screw the lid off there is a small 'sieve' type layer before the lid. This allows a small amount of the powder through at any one time. This is a really good mechanism to stop you wasting any material, for example in case there was a sudden gust of wind you would only lose the small amount which has made it through the sieve and not the whole pot's worth!

      I find the best way to apply the powder is to put a small amount at a time on a really big wide brush and then sweep it over your face, moving the brush in circles to try and spread it out as best you can. You really don't need to apply much of this powder to cover your face so apply a little at a time then build it up. it's easier to add more than take some off. Once you have added too much there is nothing you can do to tone it down other than take it all off and start again. Trust me, that is very frustrating.

      Conclusion:

      This powder is very light and translucent so gives a lovely radiant glow, which is exactly what I wanted from this powder. I hate the heavily made up look and powders can really contribute to that at times. The powder has really good lasting power and although it doesn't last all day and night it is easy enough to carry round in your handbag so you can give yourself a boost when you get a chance.

      The powder has a really great balance bwteen not giving too much coverage, but giving just enough to even out your skin tone and reduce any red unflattering areas, like spots scars, without looking too made up. If you do want the made up, 'doll skin' look then you would not find this powder enough for you, so in that case I would not recommend it, but for the more natural look I am after, this is perfect.

      I have heard other people say this really blocks their pores, but after about a months worth of use I have not noticed this unpleasant side effect.

      Although this product is slightly expensive, I think it will last a long time. I use it daily and after a month have not even used half the pot, which makes me think it could be better value for money that first thought. The inital outlay is a bit pricey though!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Definately try this product and see for yourself

      I love this product! It's easy to apply, light, and disappears onto your skin leaving a matt finish that looks like you're not wearing any make-up at all.

      Yes it's a little pricey compared to some powders but I wear this everyday to set my foundation and occasionally touch-up in the evening and one will last me about 12 months! With this product, you only need a small dusting, don't cake it on. I tip a little into the lid then use a large dusting brush (not the brush included in the box) swirl it round and dust it over my whole face. You can't feel it but it makes such a difference especially if you suffer from shiny patches.

      As stated earlier, I don't use the enclosed brush as it is too small and I found it didn't give good coverage and used more powder than a large brush. However, rather than carrying the whole pot round and a big dusting brush, it is handy for nights out as you can tip a little powder into the lid and you have a small compact supply for any touch ups while you're out.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      brilliant product!

      I absolutely love my make up, especially since a year ago I suddenly discovered the wonderful world of foundation! ( but the nice sort that makes you look better, not the horrible oompa loompa look). To go with my foundation I did of course want a lovely powder to set it with. I'd already tried lots of Clinique products and been very impressed with them so looked to this brand to find my ideal powder. After having a chat with the Clinique consultant I was recommended this product with the colour (if you can call it that) being invisible blend.

      ===Cost and availability===

      This powder is available from usual Clinique stockists - House of Fraser, Debenhams, independent department stores, larger boots stores and of course online. This retails at £20.00 for 35g of product which I personally think is reasonable especially considering you also get a brush with the powder. This powder comes in 5 shades which are:

      * Invisible blend
      * Transparency 2
      * Transparency neutral
      * Transparency 3
      * Transparency 4

      Not a huge range of shades really but you can't go too far wrong when you consider these are sheer and transparent shades.

      ===The brush===

      As I mentioned this powder does come accompanied with a brush which I think adds a lot of value to your purchase. This is a retractable brush which I think looks quite stylish and elegant. It is about the size of a lipstick with the case being lovely shiny silver all over. When you remove the lid you can see the brush bristles encased in the inner white plastic and to make the brush useable you simply twist the base. I would say that the brush itself is an adequate size, although I still much prefer my larger powder brush when using this product. The bristles are nice and soft and pick up enough of the product for use. I have yet to notice any bristles to fall out so I would say this is a very high quality brush - not bad when it is a free accompaniment to a purchase. I find this brush is very useful for touch ups if you are on the move and due to it being retractable is very handy to just pop in your handbag.

      ===The packaging of the powder===

      This powder is housed in a decent sized clear tub - which is lovely so you can see how much product you have left. The lid is shiny silver which matches the brush perfectly. Clinique is clearly written on the front of the tub, again in silver which I think makes the product look rather nice sat on my dressing table. On the base of the product is the usual information - the colour, the weight, the instructions, and that as with all Clinique products - this is allergy tested and 100% fragrance free. When you take the lid off you can see there are 20-30 reasonably sized square holes in the plastic between the lid and the powder which allows a good amount of product through.

      ===The claims===

      Clinique says that this is a 'loose, lightweight powder that's right for every type of skin. Makes pores seem to disappear. Provides a silken, flawless finish'. To apply: 'dip brush into powder. Gently tap to avoid excess, then sweep all over face. Wear alone or over liquid foundation'.

      ===So does it work?===

      In a word yes! I absolutely love this product. It feels gorgeously soft and I love the colour. I am very pale so something that is 'invisible' is perfect! I tend to wear mine over my foundation but I have on occasion worn it by itself. When I have done this it just evens out the tone of my face and reduces any shine to give me a much better look!

      When I wear it over foundation the result is even better. Wearing foundation perfects my skin anyway but can sometimes leave it looking ever so slightly shiny. This takes away the shine immediately, sets my foundation so that it lasts me all day and just generally gives me a lovely flawless look. When I apply this I dip my large powder brush into the powder, tap off any excess and then sweep all over my face. This gives me a nice even application which is easy and takes barely any time - perfect for the morning rush before uni/work. However, the Clinique consultant did inform me of another application method which I have yet to try but intend to try very soon! This is to rub some of the powder between your fingers so that it warms up and then pat it onto your skin - which should give even more of a flawless finish!

      ===How long does It last?===

      If I apply the powder just on its own I would say that it lasts maybe 4-5 hours without needing reapplying but if I apply it on top of foundation I find it will pretty much last all day. As for how long this will last before you need to repurchase will of course depend on how often you use it. I use it most days and have found I have barely made a dent in it so far so would expect this to last me at least 2-3 months.

      ===Would I recommend this product?===

      Yes! It is suitable for all skin types, is a lovely loose powder that just gives you a lovely finished look rather than a caked on heavy look, and comes with a gorgeous little brush! I know that £20.00 may seem expensive for a loose powder when you can get some for about a tenth of that price! However I think that the quality makes it worth every penny. It will last quite some time even with fairly frequent use and I think it is just a lovely addition to anybody's make up bag! 5 out of 5 from me!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Would happily accept as a gift!!

        I received this as an, impressively large, free sample on purchasing some other Clinique products and was very happy with it.

        The sample I received was in shade 20 'Invisible Blend.' My first impression was that it appeared to be very dark for an 'invisible' powder. Now I'm a fair skinned, blue-eyed girl and powders have the tendancy to look orange on me so I was a little more than apprehensive. The powder is finely milled however and that was evident just by looking at it so I was hopeful of a good result in terms of quality.

        I used a large fan brush to apply and found that it is indeed very loose! The powder went everywhere! Not necessarily a negative of the powder itself, more like a result of my cak-handedness! Definitely something to bear in mind though. I applied the product on top of my usual lightweight foundation and was impressed by it's easy application; no clumps or heavy patches. The colour was suprisingly light too. I wouldn't have said that it was invisible by any stretch of the imagination but it wasn't orangey either and I think a shade lighter would have suited my skin perfectly. The powder didn't sit in a heavy layer on my skin and so wasn't obvious and also, quite importantly, didn't dry my sensitive skin out which I've found is a problem with some powders. At the end of the day my skin was still mostly shine free and my foundation hadn't slid around despite the warm weather.

        Definitely a powder I'd like to try again, albeit in a different shade if possible. Not sure I'm willing to pay the hefty price tag which is the only thing that would put me off buying a full size pot.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        -

        After years of trying to find the perfect powder to suit my skin tone, I finally discoverd clinique invisible blend face powder and I haven't looked back since. I've been using this powder for about a year now.

        In the past I tried near enough every brand of face powder available in boots but was always left with an orangey 'caked' look that really wasn't very attractive. My super pale skin is always a problem for me when it comes to make-up. So I decided to give a more expensive product a go to see if they were any better. After having a snoop around on the internet I came across this clinique powder.

        The loose powder comes in a 35g pot with a small swivel out brush designed to sweep away any excess powder. I choose to use a different brush but the brush provided is great for popping in to your bag to top up your make up on the go.

        The powder is advertised as a loose, lightweight powder that's right for every type if skin. Makes pores seem to disappear and Provides a silken, flawless finish. It sounds good and it certainly lives up to the claims. There are 4 other shades available other than invisible blend but for pale people like myself I definately recommend the invisible blend.

        I have had the pot for about a year now and I have just under half left. At £19 it's not a cheap product but the quality is great and lasts much longer than normal powders because you don't need much.

        Some powders can have a nasty smell to them but this one has very little smell which I like.

        Thanks for reading, please rate and comment.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A very good product would recommend

          After purchasing and really liking a Clinique liquid foundations when I decided to replace my Face Powder I decided to give Clinique another go and purchased their Blended Face Powder.

          ** About Clinique:-**

          Clinique is owned by the Estee Lauder Corporation and rather than promising that their products are Hypo-Allergenic they instead test their products 12 times on 600 people. If any of these people suffers an allergic reaction then they alter the product. As a sufferer of Skin Allergies this was an appealing promise.

          **The Product:-**

          The face powder comes in quite a big 35g glass tub with a free Powder Brush that twists up and has a lid keeping any excess poweder away from your surfaces. The tub has a mirrored lid which is very handy.

          It comes in five shades Invisible Blend, Transparency 2, Transparency 3, Transparency 4, Transparency Neutral

          As you would expect from Clinique it is Allergy tested and 100% frangrance free.

          The product is claimed to be a loose, lightweight powder that's right for every type of skin and makes pores seem to dissapear.

          **Application:-**

          The powder can be applied before or after makeup either by using the brush supplied or using the powder "rubdown technique". This involves pouring loose powder into the palm of your hands, then rubbing your hands together and "wash" over your face from top to bottom. The brush should then be used to brush off any excess powder from your face.

          **My findings:-**

          I apply in the mornings before work after applying my make up and use the brush supplied. I purchased the Tranparent 4 colour which looks pretty natural.

          The powder does last well and is usually still holding up by the time I come home.

          It does provide excellent coverage and helps minimise the appearance of pores (as well as thread veins). It is also very comfortable to wear and being a powder it is easy to remove in the evenings.

          It costs around £18.50-£19.00 a tub so is a little pricey but it is a good quality product and lasts for ages.

          **Conclusion:-**

          The Blended Face Powder lives up to its claims and gives a flawless finish. It has very good lasting power and i would definately recommend to friends.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          i love this

          ****Clinique Blended Face Powder and Brush ****

          I first tried this when i was given a free sample of it last year and i love it.

          **About brand**
          Clinque sell high quality make up and toiletry products. I love clinque products and don't think i have ever came across a product that i have been unhappy with . The brand is great and if i could afford to i would stock up on it lol.

          **Packaging**
          This comes in a clear round tub with a twisty lid. I have also received this quite a few times in one of clinques "buy .... and get something free" . These ones tend to come in a round cardboard box and you get 2g worth of product. I would say this is worth getting to try the product out and at the same time treat yourself to other products !! :P.

          **Product**
          This comes in 5 different blends-one for very fair skin,2 for moderately fair and two for medium.I get the invisible blend which is for moderately fair skin but i would say i was more of a medium .
          This has to be applied after make up and it helps pores disappear....I would say that it does this rather well.It helps to give skin a really flawless look and i love it!!!
          I have quite dry skin but this is suitable for all skin types.

          This costs £ 18.11 for 35g which i think is rather expensive but it lasts a long time. I have had mine over a year and its not finished yet. You get what you pay for and this is great!!!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          a good buy

          There are two types of face powder on the market loose and pressed. This is a loose powder, whcih means it is applied with a brush as opposed to a sponge which you use with pressed powder.

          It comes in a plastic round pot with a rather nice silver lid. Once you unscrew the lid you will see a sifter inside, this is there to ensure you only get a limited amount of powder out when you shake it. It also cuts down on wastage should you accidentally drop the pot and have it fall upside down, which I have had with other powders and trying to sweep it up back into the pot is not easy. In fact I have actually kept this pot and used it for other loose powders. I bought a powder from Bourjois but the sifter they gave me was loose round the edges so it kept spilling everywhere so I poured my powder into my Clinique pot so I'd say it has superior packaging.

          A small powder brush is provided with the pot which you twist up to use but I do not find it useful enough for everyday brush use because it is so small it would take a while to dust the whole face and I found it quite rough too, though perhaps it may make a good emergency brush or be the right size for a weekend bag. I usually throw mine in the bin. I find you need a proper big soft brush which I purchased separately. Application is straight-forward. Simply dip the brush in, tap off the excess, and sweep gently over your face, being careful to get round your nostrils as sometimes people miss that bit.

          I buy this in 'Transparency Neutral', as this is the shade that doesn't really have much colour to it. There are 3 other shades available. It can be worn on bare skin but i use it over foundation to help set it. It helps make my skin-tone more even quite significantly. With daily usage a pot will last about a year which justifies the price I think. It costs around £17.50 and is available from department stores. Clinique do another similar powder to this as an alternative - Gentle Light Powder - which is more shimmery.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Would reccommend

            This product comes in a generous 35g jar and comes with a small swivel out brush. Inside there is a plastic sift to prevent spilling or applying to much product, this is also more hygeinic and prevents any powder being wasted.To extract the product simply shake the jar to bring a small ammount of powder into the inside lid.
            This powder comes in 6 different shades;
            Transparency 1
            Transparency 2
            Transparency 3
            Transparency 4
            Transparency 5
            Transparency Neutral
            and costs around GBP 15.00

            Clinique claims that this powder 'makes pores seem to dissappear' this it does, leaving a natural flawless finish without looking cakey or powdery. Clinique advises you to apply by 'Hand-rub onto face for most silken, flawless finish. Whisk off excess with swivel-out brush' but i found this method to give an uneven finish and you fingers apply excess oils to your skin making your makeup wear off faster, i would recommend either applying with a brush or sponge. The powder seems to match my skin tone very well without producing application lines or areas of discoloration over my concealer.

            One disadvantage of this powder, is its staying power all though it set my foundation well, i needed to touch up this powder when applying over foundation to keep your skin matte, this maybe would be so suitable for those with oily skin.

            overall i think this is a good powder, it is basic but does exactly what it says.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Overall a fantastic powder with good coverage yet still lightweight and natural looking

            This is one of the best powders on the market in my opinion and I have used it for about a year and still on the same tub, it lasts forever!! I paid around £12.50 for mine from boots which is amazing value for moeny because I have had it over a year and still got some left. You also get the mini brush with it, which is retractable and perfect to fit into your handbag. The powder goes on really lightweight but gives amazing coverage as it really sets your foundation, and gives a flawless, amazing coverage even for problem skin like mine. Because it it lightweight and not heavy like a pressed powder it is less likely to block pores and cause more spots so it has helped my skin in that respect. It comes in many colours and is bst tested on the jawline to find the right shade.Always pick one a bit lgihter if you are not sure, as this reflects the light more and makes skin look more radiant. Good tip! I would recommend this to anyone, with any type of skin. Only downside its more fiddly than a compact as its loose.
