With my addiction to lipsticks and make up in general I seem to have accumulated a number of different brushes and applicators. One of my favourite tools of the trade I've picked up over the years is the Clinique lip brush. I'd always been happy to apply lip stick and lip liner directly onto my lips. There was one night however when I was heading to a gala ball that I decided I needed something a little more subtle and that is exactly why I picked up the Clinique lip brush.
The idea behind a lip brush is to blend in a little less lip stick than you would normally get straight from the stick. It allows a thinner coat, which with certain brands I've found to be a bit of a god send. It also allows you to blend in the lip liner, giving an almost invisible transition between the two products. I've found when I'm looking for a more sophisticated look, this method of application really works well for me.
So why the Clinique brush then? Well to be honest it was the first one I tried and in some sort of weird loyalty I've never really strayed to any others. The few others I've tried don't seem to offer the same feel to them as the Clinique. It seems to really give the best finish of any brushes I've had since first trying this one. The real appeal of the Clinique version is the even finish it allows and the plump look it gives to my lips following application.
The handle on the lip brush is quite long and in fact this could be seen by some as a disadvantage, but I found that with the length of the handle it gave me more control over the application and spread of the lipstick and also enabled the detailing with the lip liner to be much easier as I wasn't trying to see through my hand at the moment of application as well.
Ever since I tried the Clinique brush for the first time I wouldn't change brands now and although some have tried to convince me I've always come back to the Clinique version. I get a nice smooth and even finish every time I use it and for me that is the most important quality from a lipstick brush. It may seem a bit of an expensive investment at £10 a time but I do feel that for the money it gives the best value and the end result is worth it.
