I have had these Cosmopolitan Beauty Expert Blend Perfection sponge for quite some time as they are made to apply liquid foundation which is something I don't wear very often however on the few occasions when I do I will always use one of these sponges. I really can't remember how much I paid for them but I have looked online and you can get them from online chemists and stockists and the prices range from £1.45 to £2.48.
The sponge is a bright pink in colour and it comes in a sealed packet for hygiene which you can keep it in afterwards. It measures 5cm by 4cm but you can get them in quite a few other sizes and shapes and also in other colours. They are made from latex which is supposed to be the best way of applying both cream and liquid foundation as they are so smooth.
To use you need to wet the sponge before use which I do by pouring a small amount into a bowl and then very gently dab the sponge in as you don't want to completely soak it. I then apply small dots of foundation onto my forehead, cheeks and chin and then use the sponge to blend it in using small outward strokes until I am happy that it is even and there are no streaks or tide marks.
After using the sponges you are supposed to wash them in warm soapy water however I find that if I rinse it immediately after using it there is no need for soap and I am happy that I am not adding anything else which could potentially stay on the sponge and could affect its use the next time. I will squeeze the sponge well until any surplus water is removed and then just leave the it on the sink or dressing table and I find that it only takes half an hour or so to dry completely.
I would say that I have probably used the sponge about half a dozen times as I don't often wear liquid foundation but I can really see a difference using a sponge compared with my fingertips as it does look very even and gives a more professional look which is good if you are going somewhere special. I will usually finish it off with a light layer of loose powder and find that this will make it last longer and prevents any patches appearing throughout the day.
I think that a make up sponge is an essential addition to anyone's make up box and they are good value as you can pick them up quite cheaply and if you only use them occasionally like me they will last you for ages
