When it comes to taking my nail varnish off I have a few 'must haves'. The nail varnish remove must be quick, when I say quickly what I mean is I need the nail varnish to be removed with easy, rather than having to scrub away at my nails. I also like the nail varnish remover to be kind to my nails. I appreciate that nail varnish remover will have to contain certain chemicals to be able to remove the nail varnish but not so that is damages my nails in the process.

With all of these factors in mind I am very careful over what nail varnish removers I buy. I have seen shops own brands before and because the price is low I must admit to be being tempted but I always end up being loyal to the Cutex brand

I think Cutex is one of the most well known brands on nail varnish remover, I remember my mum using it to remove her nail varnish so I guess that plays a part in why I use it.

Cutex is available in most Supermarkets as well as many high street retailers such as Bodycare, Superdrug, and Wilkinson's and occasionally I have found it in my B and m store. It usually retails at about £1.99 but it can sometimes be found on an offer although this is rare and you have to be lucky.

The Cutex brand has very recently had an overhaul of its image and design and the nail varnish remover can be found in a brand new looking bottle (The product itself being the same) so the bottle I am describing is slightly different to the one that Dooyoo use in the picture above for this review.

The bottle is now grey in colour and you can no longer see the product through the plastic bottle. It has a plastic black top that you have to unscrew to open. Cutex offers three different formulas for its nail varnish remover but the one I use it the nail strengthening formula. It has a purple label on the front with the Cutex brand name on and in black writing it tells you that this is the strengthening product. The back of the bottle gives you clear directions for use and ingredient listings.

The bottle comes in 2 different sizes, you can buy the 4oz bottle or the 6oz bottle which are the larger sized bottle or there is the 2oz bottle which Cutex say is great for your handbag but I think it is a great size to take on holiday as it is a small and handy and I ca not stand having chipped nails so it comes with me wherever I go!

To use this nail varnish remover is really easy, you take the top off and apply the nail varnish remover onto a cotton wool pad and then gentle rub over your nail (hand or foot). What I noticed compared to other nail varnish removers that I have tried in the past is that this product does not have the strong overpowering smell like the others. There is a smell and you would not want to smell it all day but it does not affect me for the short time that I am using it.

My nail varnish comes off really well using this product. I do not need to scrub at my nails, just gently wipe the cotton wool over them. It does not matter how many coats of nail varnish I have on my nails either, the results are still the same, quick and easy removal of my nail varnish.

Once I have removed my nail varnish I then run my nails under water just to ensure all traces of the nail varnish remover are washed off before I apply my new colour!

The product does contain acetone, it is a flammable substance but in the right hands it is not harmful. This product is advertised as having gelatine in to help strengthen the nails and I firmly believe it is. My nails do not feel brittle once I have taken my nail polish off and they do not break or flake if I leave my nails with nothing on them for a while.

In summary, I am really pleased with this product and will continue to use it for many years to come. It is quick and easy to use which is what I love about it and the smell is not off putting. My nails do not feel damaged after using this remover and I would definitely recommend it.
