Advantages: Wow factor lashes for that celeb look
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly at first
I have been using Eyelure individual false eyelashes for about a year now and think they're great.
They come in a pack with 17 short, 17 medium and 17 long. A little bit weird you don't get an even number of both as I tend to balance each eye the same? You get a small tube of clear glue and another vial of remover. The instructions state to use a small piece of foil to put a blob of the glue on and a pair of good tweezers is helpful. In fact, I doubt you could handle the lashes with anything else as they can be a little difficult to apply at first.
You are supposed to clean your lashes and eyelids to ensure they are oil free, I just use my normal face wash for this as some make up removers can be a bit oily and I would think would affect the bonding of the glue. I use a really fine pair of slanted tweezers as I have found that thick flat ended ones make the task a tad more difficult. Basically you carefully pick up a lash just on the tip of it, I always start with a short and work out from the middle, and then just dab the base in the glue. You won't need a massive amount for one cluster of lashes, just enough to see it's on there.
How I do it is.... I close the eye I'm applying it to and kind of hold my eye taut at the outer edge as if you're applying eyeliner, this makes it alot easier to just lay the glued lash on top of the area you are applying it to. I don't touch it with my finger to seat it, if it's not right I take it straight off with the tweezers and re seat it. Sometimes I'll use the other end of the tweezers just to give it the extra pressure to bond.
I tend to do one eye at a time, counting how many I use of each size so that I can copy the pattern on the other eye. I never really use the longer lashes as they are really long, mainly I'll use about 4 short ones and 4 medium ones per eye. I find that this length gives you the glam factor of lushious lashes without being too over the top and people can never really tell if you are faking it or if you have been fortunate enough to have naturally long lashes anyway.
I always apply these for a night out after I have had my shower, I let the glue set a good ten minutes or so before I apply make up. I use my usual make up as normal and still coat them with mascara for that extra touch. Now, the box states that these last 3-4 weeks but I always seem to start losing a few by the end of a week. I put this down to the fact that you probably do have to wear mascara if you're applying them for the full on look and also with everyday washing and cleansing routines they are likely to get disturbed a little bit. Saying that I can get a good week out of them and with the application practice makes perfect as they say.
Never ever pull at them to get them off. You risk pulling your own eyelashes out along with them. The remover is in the pack for a reason, it de-activates the glue making the lashes easy to remove. I just get a cotton bud and hold it on the area I want to get the lash off for a few seconds. Gently stroking the lash down with the cotton bud makes it eventually come loose and therefore easy to remove. The solution is a bit stingy if you get it in your eye obviously but doesn't last too long if you rinse with water straight away. I think its better if you only wear them for special occasions or nights out as I think it's probably not a good idea to constantly have a glue on your lashes as I personally worry about my own not re-growing. I do love the extra fullness of my lashes when I do wear them and it just makes me feel really girly with a full layer of eyelashes to flutter!!
I had mine done twice by a beautician at about £11.00 a go and i thought I could definitely do this by myself for half the cost. A pack of the three sizes with glue and remover costs £4.95 and I get two sets out of that as I don't use the long, although they come in handy if you just need an extra one if you have one come off, I cut it down to size if it's all I have left.
You can buy individual eyelashes in kits of each of the sizes in hairdresser/beauty wholesalers shops but I believe you have to buy the glue separately. Eyelure eyelashes can be found in most chemists, Boots and Superdrug shops.
Once you master this I'm sure you'll be hooked and no special night out will be complete without them!
