Advantages: Can be cheap if you do it your self, they look very natural.

Disadvantages: Can sting if you get the glue onto your skin

I have always had pretty good eyelashes, although they not that long they are lengthened easily with a good mascara. I don't wear make up everyday but my lashes have become very thin recently so I decided to take action as I didn't want to have to rely on mascara all of the time.

I had noticed that eyelash extensions have hit the nation by storm, and decided to give them a go. I had trained in eyelash tinting, perming and extension twelve years ago. So the application of them was relatively easy for me.

DESIGNER EYELASHES

These eyelashes are individual lashes that are semi permanent, they last up to 4 weeks providing that they are cared for correctly.

These eye lashes come in two different colours black and brown and they also come in four different sizes, short, medium, long and extra long. I find the best ones to have are the medium size as they are still very long and once they have been applied they sit just below your eyebrows, so anything longer can look a little bit over the top.

These designer eyelash extensions are designed the both thicken and lengthen your own lashes and they will give you a natural appearance. The black lashes are best for those who like to wear make up all of the time and the brown are better for those who are less likely to wear make up.

APPLICATION

These lashes can be done in a professional salon, and will set you back roughly 78.00 for a full set of extensions. Personally I find this very expensive but people do pay for it.

I feel that you can apply your own extensions, you just need to know how to do it and here I will explain in detail how to do this.

Firstly you need to remove all eye make up using make up remover and then wash your face and eyes to remove any residue. Once you eyelashes are completely dry you can then start the application of your lashes.

Using a pair of tweezers pull a single lash from the packet and lightly dip it into the lash adhesive, you should had a little ball or bead of glue on the bulb of the lash, then closing your eye gently lay the single lash on top of you own lash just below your eye lid lip. After a few seconds after the glue has soaked into you own lash and the extension, gently press the tweezers onto the half set glue. This is to ensure the bonding has stuck your lash o the extension.

Now you repeat the process until you have filled both sets of eye lashes. Each eye will have between 15 and 20 individual eyelashes, so both eyes will have roughly 30 - 40 eyelashes.

These false eyelashes are only applied to the top eyelashes, so you must never apply them to the bottom sets. If you get any adhesive onto you skin, it will start to nip and sting, in this case remove the lash that you last applied and then reapply it correctly.

CARING FOR YOUR NEW LASHES.

These are fairly easy to care for, I would advise that you don't use mascara on these as they can clog together and look really clumpy, just apply mascara to your own bottom lashes.

When washing or removing eye make up, be careful around the eye lash area and clean the area as gently as possible. As to much soap and products can cause the bond to weaken and they will not last as long.

When you get up in the morning you eyelashes maybe a little bit bent of sitting funny, to correct this just damp them with a little water and the shape should come back.

REMOVAL

To remove these you can rub the bond with soap and water until they come loose and fall out or you can use an eyelash remover.

Apply remover to a cotton pad and lay it onto the eyes, leave it until the remover soaks into the bond then the eyelashes will come off and also the glue on your own lashes will also be removed.

THINGS YOU WILL NEED

1 x, Box or individual eyelashes of your colour and choice, these boxes usually contain 50 or so individual eyelashes.

1 x bottle of eyelash adhesive, this can be bought in black of clear. For the black lashes use black glue and clear for the brown lashes.

1 x pair of tweezers.

Cotton buds.

Lash remover.

WHERE TO BUY THEM

You can buy these for any hair and beauty suppliers, for example sally's hair and beauty shops.

The eyelashes can cost you 5.79 for a box of 50 individual eyelashes, the adhesive is 3.29 for a 10ml bottle, and lastly the remover in 1.59 for a 60ml bottle. So it will cost you a little under a tenner for these lash extensions.

Once the glue and remove have been purchased you will only need to replace the lashes as the glue will last forever.

I have even seen cheap eyelash extension kits on ebay for three pounds, so even these maybe worth a try.

OVERALL VIEW

These were really easy to apply once I got into the swing of it, they enhanced my eyes and made my lashes much thicker and fuller.

I went for the brown lashes as they are natural looking, and because I didn't want to wear make up on my eyes all of the time.

They look great and people don't even notice they are fake, they just comment on how long my lashes are. I don't even tell them they are extensions.

So if you to want your lashes to look fuller and piercing, give them a go. You could always go to the salons and have to done but this does cost you.

I do these in my salon for 78.00 per set, they take me 30 minutes to apply them to the clients, but on myself this can take a little longer. As you are doing it all with only one eye. So I would recommend you have a go your self as it will save you a lot of money.

These are fantastic, if your lashes are thinning or if you have lost some.

Summary: Great long lashes that look real, can last up to 6 weeks.
