Advantages: Hydrates & Softens Cuticles & Dry Skin
Disadvantages: Looks Like Urine?!
I have a bit of an obsession with my nails and regularly have acrylic ones in order to keep them looking perfect. One of my little pet hates is cuticles, especially when people have them growing halfway up their nail and all untidy! As such I try to take particularly good care of my cuticles by keeping them moisturised and pushed back down from my nail bed. One product that has helped me to do not only this, but to keep my hands moisturised as well is Jessica's Phenomen Oil.
It's basically a healing and rehydrating cuticle oil which aims to keep your cuticles in tip top condition through deeply moisturising and rehydrating them. It contains jojoba and vitamin E which are both designed to heal and intensively nourish cuticles which will not only keep them looking healthy but will also promote healthy nail growth. In addition to this it can be used on any dry skin areas to moisturise and rehydrate them, it's a great one for dry elbows and cracked feet.
The Product
The Phenomen Oil comes in a small glass bottle with a black screw on lid. When you remove the lid from the bottle you'll notice that it has a pipette type bottom and a squeeze-able top to it which allows you to remove the oil from the bottom and then dispense it carefully onto your cuticles. The bottle features the brand name and logo as well as the product name and the words "intensive moisturiser which clearly outlines exactly what the product is meant for.
The oil itself is a golden yellow colour in appearance, I would even go so far as to suggest that it looks the colour of urine to be precise! It has quite a sweet smell to it that smells distinctly like almonds which I actually really like, this smell also lingers for a while after application giving your hands a lovely smell. As it's an oil it's obviously a liquid but I would say that it's a little less runny than water or your typical liquid which is good as it doesn't run all down your fingers.
To apply the oil it's recommended that you squeeze the pipette type top to fill the dispenser tube with the oil, you then simply squeeze it gently over each nail until one drop is dispensed onto the nail. I find it best to apply it to one nail at a time and then rub it in, unfortunately this does mean the bottle and the lid can get a little greasy. It's recommended that you simply rub the oil into each nail and all around the cuticle bed to moisturise and rehydrate.
Once I've done all my nails I tend to rub any excess oil on my nails into my hands to use it up. It does leave your hands and nails feeling very greasy and I always have an urge to wipe them on my trousers but don't do this as you will be left with big grease stains! It's best to let the oil soak in for around 15 to 20 minutes and then you can go about your business as normal but do be aware that the oil is still on your hands and may result in some small stains.
The Result
After I applied this oil and the general greasy feeling had faded I can honestly say that my cuticles looked so much better! Prior to first using the oil they were often broken and dry looking however the oil seems to instantly fix this. Whenever I glanced at my cuticles over the next day they were pretty much invisible as there was no evidence of broken, dry or flaking skin in sight. I was really impressed with this oil and the results given by it - it also works well as a hand moisturiser!
My Opinion
As you can probably tell I'm going to thoroughly recommend this oil. I've been using my bottle for over six months now and am just reaching the end of it, I'll certainly be replacing it. I tend to apply it twice a week, and my mum's also pinched a fair bit, so a bottle will last you quite a while. It's not available from any high street stores but is stocked by a large amount of beauticians and spas alike where it tends to retail for around the £12 mark. It's also available online at www.shop-com.co.uk where a 7.4ml bottle will set you back £5.53 plus £2.65 for delivery which seems to be the cheapest option I came across. I wouldn't hesitate to tell anyone into their hand and nail care to purchase a bottle of this, you won't be disappointed!
Thanks for reading.
