JML Ped Egg for men.

After reading several reviews on Dooyoo about the JML ped egg while I was in Asda this evening I saw that they have brought one out for men. As I spend most of my day on my feet I have always found I get hard skin on my feet and have used various forms of files and emery boards to clear away the build up of dead skin.

The Ped egg was on sale for £9 instead of the normal £14.99 they usually sell it for so I thought why not give it a try after reading all the mostly positive reviews.

The ped egg is packaged in one of those horrible hard sealed plastic containers which are terrible to get into. On the back of the package there was a perforated opening which did eventually come apart but I felt that you could quite easily cut yourself on the plastic. There is some card board with pictures on the back and that was quite difficult to remove to get to the egg. Once past this piece of card there is more plastic to remove to actually get to the egg,

This took all of about five minutes to do which did not make me too happy. Why they use this stuff for packaging is beyond me but I suppose it gives a bit of protection for the product and bearing in mind it's an egg we don't want cracked eggs now do we.

The ped egg is in three parts and is supposed to be 30% bigger than the women's version with 45% more microfiles for ease of handling and because men generally have bigger feet than women.

Part one is the bottom which acts like a storage unit to which you can apply an exfoliating emery board that can be stuck on the base of the bottom of the egg. Two of these are supplied which can be replaced by ringing their helpline.

The middle part is the actual working part of the egg which basically looks like a cheese grater.

The top part of the egg is supposed to be the skin collection part of the ped egg where all the skin you have filed away is supposed to stay until you have finished and then you are supposed to be able to open and pour the dust away into the bin.

I assembled the peg egg and got to work on my left foot. I started by rubbing it in a gentle forward and backward motion. I could see an almost immediate effect and soon I had filed down the hard skin on my heel. My skin felt nice and smooth but I did not carry on too much because it warns if you take too much skin off it can end up quite sore and painful. For its first attempt I thought that was quite enough. I then did the other foot which again was quite quick to do and I finished and felt quite happy with the end result.

The only thing I did notice was that the filed skin did not stay in the egg collection part of the egg and found it to have scattered onto the floor. I tried to prise open the egg to empty the contents into the bin it was quite stiff and then all of a sudden the top shot off and all the dust ended up on the floor anyway. I suppose practice makes perfect.

After use it just needs to be washed out with hot soapy water rinsed and dried.

Warnings.

Diabetics and people with vascular disease should avoid using these unless they discuss it with their GP or chiropodist.
Not to be used on uncallused skin.
Do not use if skin is inflamed or infected.
It should not be shared with anyone else and is for your own personal use.

My thoughts on the Peg Egg.

It is a brilliant idea although I was not that impressed that a lot of the shavings actually came out of the collection pot whilst I was rubbing the egg on my feet that being said I was however very impressed with the end result of the filing. As this was the first attempt and I am quite pleased with the result and with follow up of moisturising cream did a marvellous job.

Would I recommend it?

Yes I would because I believe we should all look after our feet bearing in mind how badly we mistreat them...all day long in restrictive shoes pounding up and down all day carrying our weight. Your feet need pampering and taking care of to prevent complications in old age such as bunions, calluses and corns bent and buckled toes hammer toes etc.

I am giving this only 4 stars due to the leaking of skin from the collection chamber although I would give it 5 for its performance and end result. Replacement blades can be brought directly from JML web site for £9.99 for two Blades.

Summary: Easy to use and brilliant end result. Gets rid of dry skin.
