Advantages: A temporary fix
Disadvantages: Quite disgusting actually
My sister got one of these, and I have to say it freaks me out quite a lot... let alone use it!!! I have dry areas on my feet and a few calluses which this is apparently meant to resolve.
~~~APPEARANCE~~~
The ped egg is egg shaped, hence the name, and comes in a variety of colours. My sister got hers in pink. It has a safety cap and upon opening it is the metal file with many holes which the dried skin will go through, and behind that is the store of your dried skin, which can be poured away like filings or sharpening straight into the bin.
~~~USING~~~
Using it is extremely easy, you just hold it in your hand and start filing away, a bit like sand paper and it feels extremely odd... I have not felt this feeling before... however, I felt really quite queasy using it and even thinking about it, so stopped. The area that was used did feel slightly softer, but also a bit damaged, and it doesn't really solve the problem AT ALL...
Whilst it is effective at removing the dead skin, it does so removing your body's natural defence, your feet naturally form calluses or harden to protect it, and removing this is not beneficial (in my opinion).
Using this just reminds me of grating cheese, and I certainly wouldn't want to grate my feet... It just disgusts me... and it makes the most horrendous noise when in use... my fingers are slightly numb even thinking about it!!
~~~PRICE~~~
£3.99
~~~OVERALL~~~
I have tried using creams before this, and would definitely recommend the former. This Ped-Egg aka foot grate is only a short term solution, but does not tackle the problem itself. I would personally recommend foot creams, check that your shoes are comfortable and get some shoe pads to alleviate the tension when walking.
However, I am sure this product will be of aid to SOME people, but not all, and if picturing grating your feet make you uncomfortable, this is NOT for you!
Summary: Not one for me, but might be for you!

- 08/11/09 The commercials showing people dumping out a ton of foot crust dust always makes my stomach turn. I also have heard about it being pretty rough and painful for some peoples feet and I'm nervous since I walk a lot. I may just stick with pumice and lotion. |
