Kleenex Balsam Fresh
Advantages: Help you breathe, good quality tissues
Disadvantages: Limited availability
I've regularly used original Kleenex balsam tissues when I've had colds but didn't realise that they did these 'Fresh' ones until my Mum gave me a twin pack of them. I've not been a fan of other tissues which help you breathe and so I didn't think I would like these. When I last got a cold and was very blocked up I thought I'd give these a try and I was pleasantly surprised.
All Kleenex tissues come in good strong boxes and these are no exception. The perforated cardboard oval on top of the box is easily removed and you can then take out your tissues from the gap in the plastic covering. The box for these Fresh Kleenex tissues is mainly pale blue but still has some of the design from the original balsam box, this allows you to link them to the range but easily distinguish between them still.
The information on the back of the box tells you that you get 72 x 3 ply tissues in the box and that they have been dermatologically tested. The FSC logo is displayed so you know that the tissues come from a responsible source.
Are they soft?
Yes, the protective balm on these tissues is lovely and soft and does a great job at preventing your nose getting sore. Colds make me look like Rudolph very quickly so anything that prevents this is great.
Do they help breathing?
Yes, I found that these tissues had just the right level of menthol on them. I was able to smell it even with a blocked nose but when using these tissues without a cold it isn't overpowering. I like that the menthol on the tissues means I am easing my cold symptoms just by blowing my nose.
Quality of the tissues?
As you would expect from the Kleenex Balsam range these tissues are good quality. They hold together well in use and can even survive a washing machine cycle pretty much intact!
Price and availability
I haven't had to buy any of these yet but they are available in Asda, currently (March 2013) £2.48 for a box of 72 but are on offer 2 boxes for £3. They don't appear to be available in the other supermarkets or Boots online in this pack size which is disappointing.
Would I recommend?
Yes, all the great features of the original balsam tissues but with the added bonus of Menthol. If I were purchasing tissues during a cold I would definitely be looking out for these.
