Advantages: smooth nails, long lasting file
Disadvantages: expensive
This was a Christmas present from my husband. The Leighton Denny Crystal nail file comes in a aluminium case with black velvet lining which I immediately thought was a very classy protective storage case but possibly a little over the top. The file has an opaque look to it with a painted matt silver end and the name 'Leighton Denny'. Apparently it is the 'Rolls Royce' of nail files (my husband enthusiastically informed me of this) and has won awards from 'In style magazine' and 'Cosmetic Executive Women'. Impressively, it comes with a lifetime guarantee.
I'm a keen gardener and although I wear gloves for most of the work, I often become aggravated by them and regularly pull them off, it's just the way I like to garden even though the condition of my hands and finger nails suffer as a result. I keep my nails relatively short and so often need to file them and also attend to any rough edges due to the gardening work. My husband was aware I had tried all kinds of nail files and that at times I had complained over the cost of emery boards that only seemed to last for a short time or glass and metal files which failed to give a good result or after a few months of use became less effective and eventually useless.
The Leighton crystal nail file is quite simply lovely to use in my opinion. It is a comfortable width to hold and so not likely to slip from your hand (I imagine it would break if it were to fall onto a stone surface or floor). It files my nails beautifully and effortlessly, only a few strokes are necessary and the result is there. I have to be careful I don't get carried away and end up filing my nails too low. Nails are left incredibly smooth, they feel to the touch almost like plastic or glass. After use the file can be rinsed with water and is then as good as new. I feel confident this file will last for a very long time and there will no longer be the need to buy any further nail files or emery boards. Also as less filing is needed with this Leighton file, I can say that after four months of using it my nails are stronger as well as smoother than ever. I love it.
The price at Amazon is £10.99 and at Boots £12.00. Expensive but I truly feel it is well worth the price. An excellent purchase for yourself or as a gift.
Thanks for reading x
