Advantages: Good quality ingredients combined to leave your lips looking and feeling in great condition
Disadvantages: I personally didn't like the smell on my skin
I was in Lush the other week and managed to spend a small fortune on a basket of goodies. I stocked up on some lip balms as I love the ones from Lush. I picked up a whipstick as although I have been buying balms from Lush for years it was one that I hadn't actually tried as it is primarily chocolate flavoured and although I love chocolate to eat it isn't one of my favourite scents in a beauty product.
The whipstick costs £5.25 for a 10g tub which is small but like most of the balms from Lush you only need a little bit of the product to completely cover lips so it will last quite a long time.
As I mentioned the main ingredient is chocolate but it also contains lots of other high quality ingredients such as beeswax, extra virgin olive oil, shea butter, honey, almond oil and oatmilk along with loads more. It promises to nourish the lips and leave them soothed and in better condition.
As soon as you open the tub you can smell the chocolate with is combined with an orange smell which immediately put me in mind of terrys chocolate orange. The smell is gorgeous but I wasn't sure that I personally wanted to smell like a chocolate bar. It is also quite strong and long lasting so you can smell the chocolate long after you put the balm on your lips which if you like the smell is a good thing I suppose.
The whipstick goes on the lips really smoothly and it isn't too hard or solid so you can easily slick some on. It does give immediate relief from dried lips and it also coats your lips with a nice shine that stays put for a few hours at a time. Now I like my gloss and for me the shinier my lips are the better but it might be too sticky for some people in a lip balm.
Apparently the chocolate smell is supposed to be an appetite suppressant but I actually found the opposite and I got so hungry whilst wearing this and the constant smell of chocolate wafting up to my nose was like a constant tease.
Like most of the Lush lip balms that I have tried over the years whipstick contained really high quality ingredients which left my lips looking and feeling in tip top condition and if it was only based on this then I would definitely buy again but because of the smell which although gorgeous in its own right was one that I just didn't enjoy on my skin and I don't think I would buy it again because of that.
If you like smelling like a chocolate bar then by all means buy this as it is a great balm and you will most definitely smell like chocolate all day long.
Summary: A good lip balm if you like the smell
