When I decided I was going to stop neglecting my lips Lush was my first port of call for products to use. I knew I could walk into a Lush store and pick up some lip products safe for my vegetarian lips without having to spend ages reading tiny bits of writing on the back of the products to find that actually this contains something I don't want near my mouth and/or has been tested on animals.

Among the many different flavours of lip balm Lush sell I opted for this Whip Stick lip balm because, well who isn't tempted by 'a yummy chocolate orange lip balm' as Lush describe it? A 10g pot of this lip balm costs £5.50 which, considering I've had this about three months now, use it almost daily and have only really taken a thin layer of product off of the top, is pretty good value in my opinion. I reckon this little pot will last me a year easily!

The lip balm is housed in a small silver circular pot with matching screw on lid. The lid contains a brown sticker with white writing stating the product name and short description. As you'd expect the green Lush logo is also present at the top of this sticker. The bottom of the pot states an ingredients list, that this is hasn't been tested on animals and that is suitable for vegetarians. The packing is simple yet effective and I personally really like the size of the pot this comes in as it's so easy to just carry around with me and apply wherever and whenever I fancy.

I'm never really too bothered about ingredients lists other than to ensure a product doesn't contain any non-vegetarian items but Lush ingredients lists I always make an exception for. This one sounds good enough to eat. This contains things like oat milk, almond oil, dark chocolate, organic extra virgin olive oil, tangerine oil, sweet orange oil, vanilla absolute and cocoa absolute. Unfortunately this also contains beeswax and honey meaning it's not suitable for vegans. Ingredients like this beeswax, olive oil and almond oil act to lock moisture into the lips. Shea butter is also added to aid this moisture locking service further. Honey will help calm down sore lips and the likes of dark chocolate, vanilla and cocoa absolute and tangerine and sweet orange oil add that chocolate orange flavour.

Unscrewing the lid reveals a brown lip balm with a tinge of orange to it. The colour is completely as you'd expect from the scent. On the subject of this scent, this one is beautiful. It can only be described as Terry's Chocolate Orange really! It smells exactly like an orange chocolate bar and, if you were to close your eyes and have someone stick this under your nose, that is what you'd think you were smelling.

To apply you simply need to rub your finger across the top of the balm and then apply straight to the lips. A simple and quick process. I do find this lip balm is rather hard and I have to rub my finger over it quite a few times before it begins to melt onto my finger tip although, when it does start to soften, I quickly build up enough to cover my lips with. This transfers onto the lips clear so you're not left with brown lips, actually it adds a subtle shine to them. It doesn't leave a greasy appearance nor does it feel like that.

This leaves my lips feeling soft, smooth and hydrated for a couple of hours before I feel the need to apply a little more. I find that some lip balms tend to dry my lips out after the initial moisture has worn off and actually, my lips ends up feeling worse than they were in the first place. This isn't the case with Whip Stick. Once the immediate effects have worn off my lips are still left feeling full of moisture and soft.

I can really continue to smell this once it's been applied to my lips too and actually I find it a good way to satisfy chocolate cravings! Obviously it's not quite as good as having a bar of chocolate but it does relieve that 'I could just eat something sweet' feeling which saves me ample amounts of calories. I don't find it leaves any taste on my lips though. This is probably a good thing given I'd probably just constantly licking my lips if this tasted as much like chocolate as it smells but I still think a little bit of flavour would be nice. This doesn't have any though.

All in all, effective lip balm. Does what it says without harming any animals which is exactly what I look in for in anything really. I get moisturised, soft and smooth lips which smell like Terry's Chocolate Orange, what's not to like really?
