“ Brand: Mellow / Type: 2 Ply Facial Tissue / Dosage Form: Tissues / Subcategory: Tissues & Wipes „
Tissues seem to be an essential item for me, I pretty much constantly have the sniffles. I vary what brand I buy depending on what is the best price at the time, unless I am actually ill in which case I am very loyal to my trusted Kleenex Balsam tissues. These Mellow Classique tissues are available from most supermarkets and cost me £1.56 from Tesco (this works out a cost of £1.65 per 100 sheets). Product description: "Luxury soft white tissues." Each box contains 95 x 2-ply tissues and they are a square shape when folded out flat. They are slightly smaller than most boxed tissues as they are a smaller square shape and come in a cube shaped box which is a good indication of the size of the individual tissues. The tissues come packed in a compact cube shaped cardboard box, with a pop out section on the top for removing the tissues. It is easy to pull them out one by one and they are stored neatly with only a small tuft sticking out of the top to allow you to remove tissues one at a time. The box is possibly the nicest thing about this product, as it comes with a decorative series of photographs around each edge of the cube, depicting floral images. My box looks even prettier than the one shown in the picture for this dooyoo listing, as it appears to be some sort of orchid and has a striking look to it as the white petals really contrast against the green leaves. I currently have a box of these tissues on my desk at work and am rapidly working my way through them. The 2-ply is thinner than I am used to, as most tissues are a 3-ply thickness and this really does make a difference. The paper tears easily and every single time I have used one of these tissues to blow my nose it has resulted in the tissue paper tearing and the tissue quickly turns into tatters. Another problem that I have encountered with the thinner ply is that they are not very absorbent. Even a light job like covering my nose to "catch" a sneeze can result in the tissue soaking straight through, and this is most unpleasant! And you can forget about using them for wiping up any spillages! There are many occasions that I would want to use these tissues around my desk, for instance to clean up ring marks from leaving cups of tea on the desk, or in case of spilling any water from bottled drinks. These tissues are not strong enough or durable enough to handle the job unless I send in a whole squad of them and layer up several so that they are substantial enough to deal with absorbing the spilled liquids. Other than that they are ok for giving my desk a quick wipe over and doing a spot of dusting around my PC. The fibres of the paper do seem to be very soft and this reduces irritation when using to blow my nose. I have found that my skin has not suffered at all when I have used these tissues and they are soft enough to use on the face and body. I often use one of these tissues like a blotting paper and dab it over my face to remove any patches of excess oil that have built up through the working day. The tissue is very soft on my face and seems to clear up the oils without removing all of my make-up at the same time. Mellow Classique tissues are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which means their materials are obtained from well-managed forests and other controlled sources. Good for the environment and good for your conscience! These tissues aren't really up to the job, and I wouldn't bother buying them again. They do come in a nicely designed box and it looks pretty sat on my desk at work, but the actual tissues are just not practical for day to day use.
