a gorgeous addition to my dressing table

Last year I saw the most beautiful make-up brush holder on an American beauty blog. Unfortunately it was only available in the states, so I went on a hunt for something similar in the UK. Unfortunately it seemed that the choice was quite limited, but I did stumble across this gorgeous brush holder from Paul and Joe. Although I felt that it was rather expensive for what it was, I decided that since it would be a one off purchase, and not something that would need to be replaced at any time soon I would treat myself. ==About Paul & Joe== Paul & Joe are a fashion brand but they also have a beauty line. I have never tried any of their beauty products but they have always appealed to me for one reason - the packaging. Their products are beautifully packaged in ornate twenties style packaging which I love. A lot of the products carry the same flower design featured on the brush holder. ==Packaging== The holder comes packaged in a cardboard box, beautifully decorated in pinks, creams and beige flowers, which looks very luxurious and makes this perfect to give as a gift. ==The brush holder== The brush holder is made from white plastic and is moulded into a beautiful art deco fan shape. I absolutely love the shape, it's so feminine looking. Moulded into the front of the fan are flowers and this is a similar design to much of the Paul & Joe make-up. The plastic is strong and sturdy and the rim around the top is a silver colour which is showing no signs of wear despite owning this for quite some time now. When I bought this, I couldn't tell how it held the brushes - I didn't know if it would be completely open at the top or be divided into small sections. In fact it is divided in half inside. That means that when a brush is put into the holder it will inevitably fall to the outer side of the holder, therefore meaning a better effect is given the more brushes that are put into the holder. I own quite a lot of brushes and have yet to find one that doesn't fit in the holder. The holder measures only around an inch and a quarter wide and although my blusher brush fits with its thick handle, if you have a kabuki brush or bronzing brush with a wide handle you may struggle to fit it in here. I have never counted my brushes, but I'd estimate I have around 20 and they all fit into the holder comfortably. One disadvantage of this holder is that it is not as hygienic as some other options, such as a brush roll, as the brushes are on display and will not only touch each other, but could be prone to becoming dusty. For me, this is not a huge deal...I do like the look of brush rolls, I think they look really professional, but I know myself well enough to know that I wouldn't put the brushes back in it and wrap it up every day, so a holder like this where I can just chuck the brush in and have easy access to get it out is perfect for my needs. ==Price== I'm still a little disgusted with myself over the price I paid for this. It was £14, which for a simple piece of plastic seems quite high. As I said at the beginning of the review though, it is a one off purchase and it's so pretty I feel that I can justify it to myself! I bought it from www.beautybay.com ==Conclusion== There is a limited choice of brush holders on the high street - especially ones like this designed to go on a dressing table. Whilst the initial outlay is quite high, I feel that this will last for years and so will be worth it in the long run and I would be happy to recommend it. *Also posted on Ciao under username pink_champagne
