A perfect addition to your make up bag!

Please note, this review is for a QVS Foundation Brush, I did try to suggest this to dooyoo but the suggestion failed due to a QVS brush set already in the catalogue!

      ***ABOUT QVS***
QVS make a wide range of different make up brushes to provide a perfect look when applying make- up. Their brushes are normally sold in single packs and these include foundation, eye, powder brushes and more. Their products can be found in Superdrug and they are reasonably priced and are of good quality. Their products may also be found in other stores, how-ever I have never seen this brand available to by in any Boots stores.

Some people can find applying foundation quite tricky, especially when it comes to covering dry spots and oily skin. Many of you may use sponge wedges to apply foundation which are good for a light coverage and can be used to create dramatic effects, how-ever a lot of the sponges actually tend to soak up the foundation. Foundation brushes come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and often different types of bristles as well. When using a foundation brush, it will work with all types of foundation which includes solids, liquids and creams. The foundation brush makes spot application easy because of the flat shape of the brush and by allowing the make-up to cover the face equally creates a flawless finish. Foundation brushes can also last up to a number of years as long as they are maintained well.

      ***THE BRUSH ITSELF***
The brush itself is a good size and has soft synthetic bristles for a flawless finish and even distribution. The main end has a big flat brush and the other end has a smaller flat brush. The brush is light to hold and is easy to grip when applying foundation. The main colour of the brush is black with the metal silver ends, which holds the brushes at either end in place.

The foundation brush I bought is slightly different to the one pictured and mine actually also has a smaller brush on the other end so you can reach into those small places for even more perfect coverage. I got this from Superdrug and it cost me approximately £3.99.

I'm sure everyone has their own different way of applying foundation, how-ever when using a liquid foundation I tend to do the following.

      1) Put a small amount of liquid foundation onto the back of the hand, this helps to warm the foundation up which should help it to glide onto the skin easily.
      2) Put some of the foundation onto the brush and using downwards strokes apply the foundation and blend into the nose, forehead, cheeks and chin.
      3) You can use the flat sides of the brush to get into those hard to reach places such as the hair line and around the eyes.
The brush I purchased was particularly good because on one end I could use the smaller brush which was perfect for covering under the eyes and around the nose.

It's important to maintain your foundation brush, which will help to make the brush last longer. Every-time I use my foundation brush I always wash it with warm water and use a facial cleanser on the bristles to ensure the brush is clean. It's always very important to keep make up brushes clean to avoid bacteria which can cause spots and blemishes. After washing the brush I just leave it to dry naturally and then pop in back into my zip up bag with my other brushes.

I actually only tend to use a foundation brush when I am going out for night's out on the town. This is just because I find using a foundation brush gives you better coverage, and it makes me feel better about myself. In the week when I'm working I just tend to use sponge wedges for a lighter coverage other-wise I feel the foundation can sometimes feel a bit heavy. The brush is easy to use and does give a very good coverage whilst the smaller brush makes it perfect for the smaller areas such as the nose and around the eyes. The brush is very easy to clean and maintain. I would highly recommend this to anyone and I would also be very tempted to buy other make-up brushes from this brand as well. A lovely addition to my make up brushes!!

      Cosmetic brushes

QVS The Essential cosmetic tool kit

Having lost or broken all of my ye make up brushes I was in desperate need of some new ones. While on a visit to Superdrug I was perusing the shelves and quickly realised that I am not a make up junkie at all, and in fact was easily confused by the array of different brushes all sold singly.

I decided to by pass all of these and just buy a pack- they don't last me that long anyway and I don't want to spent £10 on an eye make up brush- I would need one for every colour!

This pack cost around £4.50 and comes in a thick plastic blister pack, requiring scissors to get into it. There is a cardboard information sleeve at the back of the pack giving information about what each of the 5 brushes and cosmetic sponge are used for, and telling me that I should care for my brushes by washing them in warm soapy water and rinsing clean.

So I get the brushes out and the first thing I notice is that each of them has a relatively short handle. I like this because I am then closer to the application area and don't have such a long handle to control.

The brushes included in the pack are:
      * Blusher brush- I recognise this as being the big one!
      * Eyeshadow brush for general coverage and blending. Nice soft bristles and quite big for quick application
      * Eyeshadow applicator brush for defining the eye shadow. This is quite like a small sponge
      * Lip brush for applying lip gloss or lip stick- this I know I won't use
      * Eyebrow and eye lash groomer with a small brush on one side for grooming eye brows and a comb on the other side to separate lashes after applying mascara
      * There is also a small foundation sponge for applying foundation.

So, I now have all of the "tools" of the trade!

**What do I think of the pack?**

The brushes are well made and easy to use, and I like the fact that there is some information on the back although I would have preferred there to be pictures of each brush.

The handles are long enough to make application easy and I have found that even with cleaning them regularly they have lasted a lot longer than the price of the pack would suggest.

The website is www.qvsglobal.com. I have had a look on the website and they do seem to make a lot of make up inspired products although there is no information about them

The brushes have been a good purchase- reasonably priced and they do the job.

      Thanks for reading
