At the moment my feet are horrible. I ignored them when I was pregnant, mainly because near the end I couldn't actually see them or reach them when I bent over, so they suffered terribly. I now have an infected toenail on my little toe which is quite thick and brittle and not very nice. I also have fairly thick big toe toenails too! The trouble is, I can't do anything about it at the moment as I am breastfeeding and the medicine you can use for this, Curanail, which I have used in the past, is not suitable when you are feeding as it has some quite harsh chemicals in it that are not advised. Anyway, that means that I have to put up with these toenails for a little while longer until I give up feeding and can cure them. Being quite thick and brittle they are getting harder to cut and I'm ashamed to say my regular finger nail scissors which are quite delicate and small no longer cut the nails. I needed something a lot more heavy duty and that's where these Scholl Toe Nail Scissors come in very handy.
According to the packaging they came in, they provide professional results and are uniquely designed to combine the precision and sharpness of scissors with the strength and durability of pliers.
They actually look like a pair of pliers to me rather than a pair of nail scissors. They have fairly long handles which are curved so it makes them really easy to grip. Then the top part where the blades are is smaller. Small enough to cut small nails with but it's quite a fierce blade that you can see is very sharp and will cut through quite thick, tough items. This part looks like the top of a set of pliers too.
The scissors are made of a strong stainless steel and I find them very strong and hefty to grip. When I am cutting my nails with these I never feel like I am going to loose my grip or that the scissors will not cut the mail. In fact they cut precisely and effortlessly and I only need one snip on each smaller nail and two on the big toes which is nice.
The long handles give you a nice bit of control and the head is Angeles perfectly so you can really get into the corners of the nail to make sure you are getting all of it and not leaving a bit that will become ingrown.
The scissors are a bit pricey at £10.50 a pair but they do a great job of cutting my thick horrible nails for the time being and for that I am thankful.
