      good emery boards!

I like having long natural nails as they make me feel glamorous - I always make sure that they are painted either red or pink and I am never seen without nail polish. However, sometimes I find that they get a bit too long and I end up cutting them. However, as I hate short nails, I decided to buy some emery boards to file them down a bit, rather than cutting them off. So when I came across these emery boards in Superdrug, I decided to give them a go. I paid around £1 for a pack of 5 of these which I think is good value for money.

The boards are very easy to use and I find that one board lasts a good few 'filing' sessions which is good. When filing you must only file in one way and always in the following direction; from the edge of the edge to the centre. This is to prevent the nail breaking and I have found that this method does work and doesn't ruin my nail or cause any breakages. There are instructions on the back of the packet which I find useful, as to be honest I wasn't entirely show how to file my nails properly, so the instructions definitely helped.

The boards are quite strong and are easy to grip which make it easy to file your nails. One side is coarse - this is for the actual filing the nail down bit and then the other side has a more 'softer' feel; this is for smoothing the nails and taking away the rough bits that the filing has caused.

The emery boards give a nice shape which is lovely and smooth and doesn't leave bumpy, uneven edges. I am really pleased with these emery boards; they are definitely the best ones I have tried.

All in all I would recommend these emery boards.

      Thanks for reading!

Nice product at a good price

      Item: Long lasting emery boards
      Price: 99p (pack of 5)
      Bought in: Superdrug

      Packaging:
These come in a flat plastic packet that is clear on the front but bright pink on the back. The pink is the colour you would associate with Superdrug. They use it on their carrier bags and their beauty card so you can see that it is a Superdrug own product. It's not a cheap version, it is simply a product made directly by Superdrug. The emery boards are visible through the packaging and to clearly advise what you are getting is says "5 Long lasting emery boards" across the front. The boards are displayed so you can see the front of some and the back of others, so you can see they vary in texture. The packet is made of nice thick plastic so you can use it to store the boards in. But it's a little bit annoying that the end flap is hard to open so I usually end up cutting the end off, which means that I need to be careful where I keep the packet and not have them falling out all over my handbag. (Not bad enough to warrant a star off though). The back of the packet advises you how to use them and has some safety advice on not to use them straight after a bath and to keep out of reach of children.

      Design:
These boards are 12cm long and 1.5cm wide. One side is pink and fine, to be used for finishing touches and the other side is dark grey and to be used for the majority of filing as that is the coarse side. I like that the boards are not only short (as this makes them easier to carry about) but also really like that they are narrow. As you can only really use a small area on the edge of the file to get to your nails, so I feel when I use wider files that the section in the middle is wasted as you can't file with it. I like that the files are colour coded on each side too, as that makes it easier to know what side to use without having to run your finger along it.

      Length of use:
I buy a pack of these about 4 times are year so I get about 3 months out of each packet. As I keep them in the pack they don't wear away and I only file my nails once a fortnight to give you an idea of actual use.

      Why pick these?
I like these nail files as they are narrow and I feel I use the majority of them before they get bald patches around the edges, without the middle still being intact. They are good value for money at 99p and the packaging is nice and bright. 5 stars from me.

Cant go wrong for the price

I always have a collection of emery boards in my handbag, in most rooms of the house, in my coat pocket etc. I used to bite my nails, I used to bite them so much they used to bleed and I did this until I got pregnant with my son 16 years ago. Since then my nails have just grown so easily and quickly that I haven't bitten them since and have lovely naturally long ones. Due to this I take great care of my nails, I do nail art and designs from home, I also like to keep my nails natural from time to time.

My nails tend to break a fair bit as they are quite brittle, so I like to have emery boards around in most rooms, in case I have a nail disaster. Superdrug is not often a shop I visit but I was looking at their hair dyes and saw these boards at the till, impulse buy, gotta love them. There are five in a pack and they are longer than some of the ones I have already, around 12cm long. They are rough on ones side and smoother on the other, it's not hard to work out which is which here.

For 99p a pack, you can't go wrong, I do find emery boards are fairly similar and these do the job. They hold together nicely and the actual board itself does keep its texture for a long time. There are instructions for use on the back, which is good if you are new to nail shaping or manicuring. I have also used these emery board for filing wood as I am making a dolls house from scratch and find these easier to hold than sandpaper. They have more uses than you realise.

A great emery board for lovely nails!

I would love to be able to go to a nail bar every few weeks to have my nails done but unfortunately my budget wont stretch to such luxuries. But instead I have spent many years doing my own nails and have perfected shaping them and applying nail polish to make them look good when needed without it costing the earth. One thing that you do need for a good manicure is a good emery board to allow you to gently file your nails to gain a nice smooth shape.

My last purchase of emery boards was from Superdrug where I purchased a pack of there long lasting emery boards. The pack contained 5 emery boards and cost just £0.99.

The emery boards came packaged in a slim plastic wrapper which is pink on the back and clear at the front. The packaging is quite simple but functional, on the front of the pack is a Black strip which simply displays the Superdrug star logo, the name of the product and that the pack contains 5 boards. On the back of the pack you can find more detailed information about the emery boards including directions for use, care and safety advice and company contact details.

Inside the pack which can be opened my simply snipping the top of with a pair of sissors you will find the 5 pink and black emery boards. I know the colour of the boards does not really matter but I love the colour pink so this was one factor which contributed to my purchase choice of these emery boards. Each board is a good size and feel quite sturdy, I have used emery boards in the past which have been very flimsy and tend to bend as you use them but these do feel very good quality.

The emery boards are designed to be used on the black side first to give your nail its initial shape and then on the pink side to smooth away rough edges. You should always file your nail only one way and move from the edge to the centre to prevent it from breaking. I have been very impressed with these emery boards they work perfectly and give my nails an excellent shape and finish. After using them the top of my nail feels smooth from the beginning and since using these emery boards I do seem to have less splits and breaks from my nails. They do also last much longer than other emery boards that I have used with this pack of 5 lasting my now about 4 months with them just about in need of replacement so they also work out to be great value.

Overall these are great emery boards to give you great home manicure results. I can certainly recommend these emery boards and will repurchasing them again in the near future.

        Long lasting emery boards.

        The Emery Boards
        = = = = = = = = = =
I love taking care of my nails and have a large range of nail care products and accessories. I needed some Emery boards for my nails so when I was in my local Superdrug store I browsed to see what they had to offer. Superdrug does their own brand of Emery Boards priced at 99p. I think this was a bargain so took a packet to try. The emery boards come in a plastic pink packet which includes 5 long lasting emery boards. On the back of the packet it tells you how to use the emery boards and care and safety advice for the emery boards. The boards are perfect for keeping the edges of your nails neatly shaped. They can be used for every manicure from shaping the nail to smooth finishing. The emery boards are approximately 11cm long and about 1cm wide. One side of the emery board is black whilst the other side is a light purple colour. Use the purple coarse surface to shape the nails. Do this by holding the emery board on the underside of the nail at an angle. Use long strokes to the centre of the nail. Simply finish the manicure using the finer (black) side to smooth away any rough edges.

After I had clipped my nails I took one of the emery boards out of the packet. They felt quite strong and also felt rough on both sides. You could tell that the black side was the finer side just by running your finger along the surface. I used the purple side of the emery board first using strokes to the centre of the nail. After I had done this I then used the black side to smooth the edges of my nails.
Never shape nails after bathing as they are at their weakest.

        Overall Opinion
        = = = = = = = = =
The emery board was very easy to hold and use and it shaped my nails nicely and left them with smooth edges. The emery boards are strong and are long lasting and I have used them a number of times now and they still work great. In terms of value the emery boards are fantastic value for money and are long lasting. If you just snip the top of the packaging off, you can keep the emery boards in the packaging and this makes them great for slipping into your bag if you happen to break or snap a nail. I would highly recommend these to others as they are such good value. I rate this product 5 out of 5 stars as they are great value and do a great job.
