I bought this powder brush last year when The Body Shop had a 50% sale. I had been lusting over it for ages but couldn't bring myself to pay £16.00 for a brush. Saying that though, I do definitely think that it is well worth the full price as it's such good quality. This is a face and body brush which The Body Shop say is perfect for applying loose powder or bronzer over face, neck and décolletage. I mainly use this to apply my finishing powder and bronzer so I don't often use this anywhere other than my face although on the few ocassions that I have, I was very happy with the finished result.
The brush is very stylish and I love the basic but modern design. It's a very chunky brush meaning that it is too big for my brush holder but as it is sturdy with has a rounded base it can stand upright, so I keep this on my dressing table. The brush has a black matte handle which is made of sturdy plastic. The handle isn't fiddly due to the chunky design and it is easy to securely grip and control when applying powder. The handle has The Body Shop written on it in white writing meaning that if you have a similar brush you won't get them mixed up.
Above the black handle there's silver mirrored casing which makes the brush look very expensive and high quality. The brush has lots of fine synthetic hair which is soft to the touch and it feels lovely and fluffy against my skin; it's incredibly gentle and light against my face. The brush is easy to use; I just swirl it around in my face powder/bronzer compact, tap off any excess then swish it over my face, working on the areas where I want the powder to go. This picks up loose powder well and it distributes it evenly, avoiding any ugly clumps or streaks.
The brush gives good coverage and the bristles blend the powder well. The matte finish is nice and natural - not at all cakey. This isn't ideal to use for applying foundation and I'd recommend getting a foundation brush rather than using this, although it's handy for a final touch up. Applying liquid foundation with this obviously is a no-no as it doesn't cope well at all as the bristles are very dense, meaning the liquid will all just blob up and make the hair stick together so you won't get a very even finish. I wash this brush every couple of months to get any bits of trapped powder out and to keep the synthetic hair nice and soft.
This doesn't shed at all and after over a year of almost daily use it looks pretty much good as new. The brush has not lost its shape and the hair is still luxuriously soft. I've got very sensetive skin and I've never had any issues with the hair irritating my face and I actually enjoy using this as it feels quite relaxing! Overall this is a brilliant quality, efficient and gentle brush and I highly recommend it.
I bought one of these Body Shop face and body brushes a few years ago now. Before that I was using a pretty rubbish powder brush which came free with a product. I knew it was time to invest in something better so opted for one of these brushes.
My main motivation for buying this brush was that it was insanely soft - think Persian cat that's just had an intense conditioner applied. The first time I touched it I knew I wanted it and so when the time came to buy something new I went for this.
The brush has a very simply but effective design. The bottom half of the brush is a black plastic handle, the plastic isn't smooth and glossy but almost has that frosted feel to it. It is comfortable to hold and because of the texture very easy to grip. It has the body shop brand name on the brush in a small writing writing. The handle is circular and tapers towards the middle of the brush, it then meet with the metal covering which is silver and this tapers out towards the brush part. The brush itself tapers out further and then curves at the end. It is light brown and as it widens it becomes a darker brown colour.
The brush is made from synthetic hair which is very fine and super soft. It feels velvety to touch and is incredibly soft on your skin. As with all body shop products there is a cruelty free guarantee which is really lovely. There is also a real sense of quality with this brush, all aspects of the design and materials feel very well though out and executed. The brush looks simple and yet stylish and is the perfect addition to my make up bag.
It picks up powder very easily and deposits it evenly over your face. The overall look achieved it of a smooth and clear complexion. I use it to apply my face powder and then also my bronzer and blusher. A lot of people use separate brushes as the brush often holds the colour and then messes up your make up. I've found with this brush that giving it a quick tap disperses any additional colour and makes it ready for the next product to be applied. This makes it a really versatile product which is great because it means you can really get your moneys worth.
It does say it is a body brush and on the website says specifically neck and décolletage (cleavage to the rest of us). I naturally use it on my neck when applying my face powder to create an even look. I find it also works well on my cleavage, though I don't tend to apply powder here I will sometimes accentuate them with a little bronzer.
All in all I've been extremely impressed with this brush. I have owned one for a couple of years now and it is only just getting to the stage where I've thought about replacing it. This is pretty good as far as I'm concerned and as the brush only costs £16 it's pretty good value. Certainly there are cheaper brushes out there but in my experience these need replacing more regularly and therefore aren't really better value.
Overall, a beauty staple for me.
A couple of years ago, a friend of mine was raving about The Body Shop's collection of make-up brushes, and when I entered the store to have a look I fell in love with the super soft bristles and professional-looking handles. However, I was slightly concerned at the price tag - this particular brush will set you back £16.00. So instead, I decided to ask for it as a treat for Christmas 2009. The very same brush is still used to this date, however I also now own another of the same after buying a collection of the brushes in the sale this year.
The Body Shop is a popular beauty store that can be found on many high streets. One of the remarkable qualities of The Body Shop is that they have very strong morals and ethics. They are against animal testing and any cruelty to animals, and were international cosmetics brand to be recognized under the Humane Cosmetics Standard for our Against Animal Testing policy.
They are also often involved in campaigns for important causes and charities such as domestic abuse and AIDS. They are a strong believer in natural beauty, and have a popular make up range along with their bath and shower products.
The store always has a very clean, fresh and natural atmosphere, with shiny surfaces and clean, polished floors. It is a million miles away from Lush, where everything is "organised chaos" and seems more chilled-out and relaxed, however I can see The Body Shop appealing to more people due to its' more conventional layout, sterling reputation and quality advertising campaigns. Although I had a problem with the customer service a while back, since the situation was dealt with I have not had any other issues, and the staff always seem knowledgeable and friendly.
The Body Shop's website is also very well laid out and easy to navigate. It uses a lovely colour scheme and looks very modern. To find this make-up brush online, simply go onto the website (www.thebodyshop.co.uk), hover over the "make-up" tab, and click "brushes and tools". The Face & Body Brush is third on the list, and you can order it easily, however it costs £3.95 to cover delivery charges. Currently they are offering free standard delivery on orders over £20.00. Alternatively, you can of course just pop into the store and buy the brush there from the make up section of The Body Shop.
The make up brushes generally receive very good feedback, both from word of mouth and The Body Shop website, which allows customers to write their own opinions on the products.
The bristles are extremely soft to touch, feel natural and are very comfortable when used on the skin. It does not cause any irritation and, of course, as the brush is made from synthetic hair, no animals were harmed in the making of this product. If you are used to cheaper alternatives, I believe that this brush will feel especially luxurious; a prime example of this is my sister, who used very cheap make up brushes before I bought her a set of these, and could not believe the difference it made for both the quality of applying and the discomfort she felt before using these brushes. The MAC equivalent of this brush will set you back £32.00, and I personally find The Body Shop brush just as effective.
Referring to my oldest of these brushes, after just over two years I think that it has honestly only lost around five hairs - they do not shed at all. After daily use and letting the brush roll around in various bags, the bristles have however splayed. I do not see this as a major disadvantage though, as I can still use the brush and in fact I find it better to blend my bronzer or blusher in with! The bristles have also only splayed within the past few months. Blending with this brush works like a dream - I use circular motions to apply my powder and bronzer, and the brush collects just enough onto the bristles to give a matte, natural finish without looking cakey or having to tap a load of excess product off the brush. I rarely use this brush to apply anything to my body, however when I have it works with the same fantastic result. I wash my brushes every few months, although this brush does not clog with product at all. Soaking the brush in warm, soapy water and leaving it to dry naturally keeps it in top condition.
The handle of this brush is very strong and sturdy, it is easy to control when using and is also very professional looking - with mirrored casing by the bristles and a charcoal coloured handle with 'The Body Shop - Face & Body Brush' printed on in silver lettering. The only downside for some may be the size of this brush; in the past I have had trouble attempting to fit it in smaller make up bags. Currently one of the brushes fits in fine if I place it in diagonally, but it could be an issue for some people who carry a lot round in their make up bags, or alternatively only own very small ones. However, as mentioned earlier, I have not found that the brush gets damaged easily at all, so leaving it in your handbag should be fine.
If you are in need of a weighty, substantial make-up brush to apply your powder, bronzer or blusher evenly with a perfect finish, I would definitely recommend this brush. Despite the initial cost, it actually works out at pretty good value as it will last you a long time and compared to some of the other premium brands on the market, it is actually quite reasonably priced.
At the minute, The Body Shop are offering a sale on some of their gift sets, and included in this is a make-up brush set that I purchased a couple of weeks ago. Inside there is this brush, a brow and lash comb, a lipstick/concealer slanted brush, an eyeshadow brush and a "fabric roll" - essentially a pretty pouch that will hold all your brushes. It is normally excellent value anyway at £25, however it is currently reduced to an amazing £15 - cheaper than this brush on its own! I am not sure how long this offer will be available for though, so I would get your hands on it quickly if these brushes appeal to you.
I recieved this product for my birthday as it had been on my wishlist for quite a long time. I have always heard great things about The Body Shop brushes and I know they are very soft after going in store and feeling them many times!
I think the price is the major downside of this product; at nearly £14 it is quite expensive for a high street brush. However, compared to the higher end brushes such as MAC the quality is unfaultable and the price appears cheap. I really would reccomend checking out The Body shop before you spend a fortune on expensive make-up brushes.
The quality of these brushes is fantastic. I haven't yet experienced any bristly shedding and I've had it for over a year. It is still as soft as it was the day I recieved it, even after being washed.
The brush itself is very large. It picks up the perfect amount of product and applies it evenly to your skin. It doesn't leave streaks or clumps of makeup.
You can use this for lots of different makeup, I use it for powder but it is also lovely for blusher & bronzer or highlighter. I don't think it's as good for foundation but there are plenty of other brushes from The Body Shop to assist you.
When I started wearing makeup, one of the first things I got was face powder to do something about my shiny forehead. I used the little applicator boots 17 gave me but when I started wearing blusher/bronzer or even loose powder, I realised I needed a brush and the tiny ones you get with the products weren't going to work.
Some research on the internet told me that mac brushes were the most amazing things ever, but also had an amazing price. Then I remembered my aunts trusty makeup brushes were of course from the body shop. I had a look online and at the time it was £13.70 which yes is expensive but I knew I wouldn't have to buy another one for a long time.
The body shop says: Large and fluffy to give you even coverage with just a few strokes. Perfect for the Face neck and décolletage
Well it's certainly large! It doesn't fit easily into my largest makeup bag so I can't take it anywhere with me which is a shame. I might just end up buying the set of mini brushes. The brush has a long handle which is quite I imagine is so you can use it for décolletage.
I simply swirl around my face powder and the brush picks up just enough so even if you tap to remove excess, hardly anything will come off. In a second I can make my face look much better than it is and as i'm usually in a hurry in the mornings, it's a life saver. As promised my face doesn't look streaky as it's so large and it covers everything. When using it for blusher, it just takes one sweep and it looks as if I actually know how to use blusher without looking like a clown! I've also had comments when I use this for bronzer as it makes bronzer look a bit more subtle and like you actually are gorgeously tanned.
I use the brush for quite possibly everything. Mineral foundation, blusher, powder, bronzer, highlighter.
The bristles are possible the softest ever. Just holding it against your skin feels like silk and that makes it worth the £14! I think in a year one bristle must have come out and it's kept its shape even after lots of washing and I haven't been too gentle with it!
I clean my brush once a week with the tea tree foaming wash (from the body shop) as it's anti-bacterial and the foam cleans it out better.
I have never been great at applying makeup, but this brush is really easy to use and creates a good look each time. I bought it because I needed a brush to apply the Shimmer Waves with and although it is great for applying bronzer I find it difficult to apply foundation with it and I use an alternative brush in the collection to do that. The great thing about this brush is that, because it is big you can apply as much or as little bronzer as you'd like. I also use it to create a shimmer in the chest area.
The brushes are of course made from recycled products and the brush itself is very soft on the skin. It is also easy to clean... in the past, with cheaper brushes I've found that when you clean them with makeup remover they go all greasy and are never the same again, that's not the case with the face and body brush.
It really does last. I'd recommend this brush if, like me, you are not very good at applying bronzer and you want a quality item, at a good price, that will last and last.
I am a great fan of pure natural and I need brushes to apply makeup as they can make a huge difference as far as I am concerned. I love to buy the best, money don not matter sometimes if the quality is right.
When I first felt this brush in the shop it was love at first sight. The bristles wore soft and the brush was big and sturdy.
One of the most amazing things that attracted me to it was the big wide handle and the fact that it can stand up by itself on the table so therefore I don't need to put it in some annoying holder with my other brushes, where the brittles can touch and possible exchange colour from another brush.
I personally use it to apply my minerals finishing powders and it does a better job then all my other brushes. I put some powder in a bowl then use this brush to work the powder into the bristles after I work my way down all over the face. It always distributes the right amount of powder into the face equally.
Though I don't own the Nature's Minerals Foundation Brush, is the one that looks like a kabuki brush, when I felt the 2 of them in the shop I was bit disappointed by the fact that the face and body one does not has the same soft bristles. But don't let that put you down the bristles and super fine anyway and they will never poke you.
I think for £13 -£14 as much as the brush cost, you get one hell of a deal. The quality and its efficiency in use it's professional and I highly recommended it. On a plus side this brush kept its shape over the use of months and regular wash and does not she at all.
***** Introduction *****
I have never been very good at applying my own make up, but recently I had a make over at my local body shop and the consultant make it look so simple and very easy to do.
When I questioned the fact that she did it so easily and effortlessly, she informed me that it was infact the brushes that really did the work.
At first I thought this was a ploy to make me spend a fortune on a load of new make up brushes, but in fact she was totaly right and the qualitly of a make up brush is very important when it comes to applying the perfect make up.
I have since purchased many of the body shop brushes as they really help me apply my make up, these are much nicer and softer than any other make up application brush I have used in the past.
***** The Face & Body Brush *****
This brush is designed for the easy application of any foundation, either powder form or creme form, both of which can be applied flawlessly with the help of this brush.
As this is a relatively big application brush this can also be used to apply blushed and bronzing products to the face and body.
The whole brush is roughly eight inches long, seven of these inches consists of a solid wooden handle, The other inch is made of of the soft bristle brush.
**** Price *****
This brush costs £9.50 and can be purchased from any body shop, you can also buy this online at www.bodyshop.co.uk or at other online retailers such as amazon.
You can also purchase other brushes such as eyeliner, lip liner, cheek, shadow brushes, which start from as little as £6.50 each.
**** My Views ****
On first impressions this was very expensive for a make up brush, but it has really improved the look of my make up and I now agree with the sales person as the perfect application is certainly down to the brushes.
I can now have a flawless cover at the sweep of this brush, not only is it very easy to use but it is also very simple to clean after use, I just spray some brush cleaner onto the bristles and allow it to dry, it is as simple as that. if you do not use a brush cleaner then you can also wash it in soap and water.
I am very impressed with this as it is so soft on my skin and the bristles do not fall out at all.
I highly recommend that every girl has one of these, as it helps achieve a perfect make up application.
I am not an expert to say the least when it comes to applying make up and I am always looking for ways to try and make it easier to apply. I was recommended Body Shop brushes by a friend and I thought I would give it a go.
There are a selection of body shop brushes but today I am going to speak about the face and body brush. The face and body shop is one of the larger brushes that are for sale at the body shop. It has a large black handle which makes it very easy to hold the brush. The brush handle starts thick at the bottom and then curves in before curving out again. The handle has The Body Shop written on it. It then has a metal silver coloured part which leads to the brush itself. The brush is a brown sort of colour and has lots of hairs that make it up to be a large brush. The brush is a really simple design and looks very attractive so you would not be ashamed to have this in your make up collection.
I personally use this brush to apply bronzer as you need a large brush to do this in order to provide the coverage you need. This brush as i said has a large amount of hairs in order to make it a large brush overall. This means that the brush can cover more of your face and body at once. It is round so the coverage is very even and looks quite natural. I use a mineral bronzer so I just swish the brush around the bronzer quickly and then tap any excess of before applying it to my face. I find the brush very easy to use due to the simplicity of it. It also blends your make up that you are applying in easilly so that it looks natuaral and hiding any tell tale lines.
I have also used the brush on my body as well before when applying bronzer. I find this easy to do and due to the large brush it is quick to do as well providing good coverage.
The brush itself as well as being large is extremely soft, which I really like. When I am applying products to my face, I do not want this to be too harsh to my skin. This brush feels very natural though and when you are sweeping it across your face it feel quite nice. Although this brush may cost a little more than just your average make up brush you can tell the difference just by how it feels. With mineral make up that you can buy now for example they often come with a brush. These brushes feel a lot more unnatural than the body shop brush and you can tell they are cheaper.
The body shop face and body brush is very durable. I have had mine a couple of years now and it is showing no sign of deteriation yet. As long as you make sure you clean your brush regularly it will last you a long time. I think that due to the fact that the brush is made well it is definitely value for money.
The body shop face and body brush can be purchased in body shop stores and also on their online store. It costs £13.70 at the moment and although this may seem a lot to you, it is definitely worth it. Currently delivery is free on orders over ten pounds as well on Body Shop online so it would cost you no more to buy online.
Overall the body shop face and body brush is a well designed and made brush that provides excellent coverage and is great value for money.
I bought this powder brush from the Body Shop a few years ago. The current model is the same as the one I have apart from a different coloured handle (my handle is beech-coloured, whereas the current one is black and silver). It is larger than the similar Blusher Brush.
The Body Shop website states that this brush is 'large and fluffy to give you even coverage with just a few strokes', and it also says that it is 'perfect for the face, neck and décolletage'.
This brush can be used for any sort of powdery addition to your face or body. I was originally convinced to buy it when I was also purchasing bronzing pearls, and it is definitely a great brush for applying those to my face, neck and chest area. I also use it for putting on powder blusher, and translucent face powder.
The brush picks up powder easily but it is also easy to knock it back off onto the back of your hand if you find you've picked up too much, which is great. It is excellent for blending and for applying powders gently to pale skin. I've never ended up with stripes the way I have when using some smaller brushes. However, if you're looking for a very precise application of blusher or other make-up, then this brush isn't for you as it's too large.
The brush is really soft and has a lot of bristles. They are really kind to my skin and I've never found the brush to be itchy or scratchy. The brush has kept its shape really well over the years and looks almost as good as when I bought it, even though I haven't looked after it very well!
This brush is usually priced at £13.70, but I see on the website that it is currently reduced to £10.96. It's expensive but it's not a ridiculous amount to pay for a brush that will last a long time and stay in good condition.
Large and fluffy for better coverage /
