Advantages: stylish, high quality

Disadvantages: none really

As I'm in the process of spring cleaning at the moment and I had some Argos vouchers, I popped into the Portsmouth branch a few weeks ago to pick up a few bits for the house - one of these was a new duvet set for our bed. We prefer darker duvets but with an elegant/sophisticated pattern them and this one fitted the bill quite nicely and at a price that wasn't OTT.

This duvet set is available as a double with 2 matching pillow cases and comes folded up (as per standard in a pastic package with a bit of cardboard in to keep it rigid. You can purchase it in Black or Purple (Blackcurrant) - the darkest colour forms the basis of the duvet colour and the pattern is a lighter shade.

I found the fit of the duvet to be perfect, although the pillow cases seem slightly roomier than necessary, but this isn't really a problem. Due to the folded nature of the packaging it does unfold with some creases in it which can of course be ironed out if you want. When placed on the bed the overall look is stylish and the material gives a high quality finish.

I liked the look of the purple version in the catalogue although I thought the black would be more versatile in terms of the decor of the room its intended to be used it. Our bedroom has mahogany furniture, light grey carpet and blue/brown curtains. I've found that the duvet set works really nicely in the room - the colour doesn't stand out or clash with anything else in the room, but the patterning prevents it from being dull and boring.

The duvet set cleans well in the washing machine and the colours haven't faded at all in the first couple of washes. It is apparently suitable for tumble drying, but as I don't own a tumble drier I just hang mine out in the garden to dry which is does so quite quickly on a nice day.

Price wise this can currently be purchased for £19.99 which I feel is a fair price for what you get. If you're interested in the item then the current catalogue number is: 924/9271

I'd definately recommend this duvet set - the pattern is traditional, and elegant yet the colour options keep it feeling modern. The black is neutral in terms of gender and it goes well with all sorts of decor. The purple is more girly and I imagine it would go really well in a room with neutral coloured walls, where colour accents come from accessories.

Summary: A lovely looking duvet set
