“ Brand: Argos / Product Type: Pillow „
Having recently replaced several of my pillows that had become dirty and stained, I decided it was time to invest in some pillow protectors. Pillow protectors can help to increase the life of pillows and prevent dust mites. I didn't want to spend a lot and decided that Argos had the best value protectors for just £2.99 for a pack of two. At that price I honestly wasn't expecting the quality to be that good.
On opening the package, I was pleasantly surprised at the thickness of the protectors, not at all what I had been expecting! The protectors are made of 100% polyester and are slightly quilted. They feel really soft and are of a decent size. The protectors fitted my standard sized pillows perfectly and were really easy to fit.
The protectors give my pillows a more bouncy feel and are lovely to sleep on. My children are also happy with the pillow protectors and say that the pillows feel soft to sleep on. The pillow protectors are fully machine washable, although I have only washed them a few times so far so can't really comment on how well they wash over time.
The saying that you get what you pay for, really doesn't apply in this case as I think you get far more than you pay for, given the excellent quality of these pillow protectors! The pillow protectors are available from Argos to reserve on line, or directly from any Argos store. I will certainly be buying another pack to cover my remaining guest pillows!
With our baby due in just 6 weeks we have been moving the bedrooms around and I've been giving them a bit of a spruce up with some new bedding. This has included pillows. In the past I have bought value pillows but abandoned these after a short time for more expensive ones. As pillows are not the sort of thing that you put in the washing machine every week I also got some pillow protectors.
I bought my pillow protectors from the Argos value range, I have several other bits and pieces from this range and have found it to be very good for the money. The pillow protectors cost just £2.99 a pair and are made from 100% polyester. The protectors are very slightly padded with a polyester filling which is non allergenic so ideal if you suffer from any allergies or asthma. The protectors measure approximately 75 x 49 cm's and are machine washable at a regular 30 or 40oc wash. I personally do them on 40oC and have found they wash up well. Argos do recommend you line dry these. They have a stitched pattern on them making them slightly quilted so the padding doesn't end up in one place.
The protectors come in basic packaging which is standard for this type of value product and are white in colour.
I found the protectors fitted easily over my pillows and I also found my pillow cases fitted easily over the protectors. Once on the pillow feels really nice, the slight padding on the protector is very nice to lay on and we both found them really comfortable. I wont say they provided a better nights sleep but they certainly felt nice to lay on.
They really do help to protect the pillows too, if you are a bit of a dribbler in your sleep, which we are all capable of, these will help to stop the actual pillows getting marked, the same applies if you get sweaty hair while you sleep, the protector will keep the pillow nice and clean. Of course the protection is limited, the covers are not waterproof and if you spill your morning cuppa in bed they wont prevent it soaking through to the pillow.
These would be ideal for toddlers as well, they are suitable for 2 years and above so may well be ideal for children. I also like the idea of these if you have guests staying with you, I hate the thought of someone else's sweat or dribble soaking into my pillows!
I would certainly recommend these pillow protectors, for the sake of the small price tag you can keep your pillows clean and get a little bit of added comfort, also being non allergenic they are ideal for me as I do have asthma. All in all a nice household item.
As we have recently set up home together it's fair to say that we've had our share of friends and family visiting us since we moved in. Some of our friends and relatives have a distance to travel and while we don't have the largest place ever we are at least able to offer them the sofa to sleep on should they require a refresh before the long journey back to wherever they came from. We have purchased some pillows and a single duvet for such guests and after receiving a gift card from Argos for some shoddy deliveries we decided to buy a few more bedding related bits, including these quilted pillow protectors. We hadn't spent a fortune on the pillows for our guests but wanted them to stay nice for as long as possible and with 2 of these costing just £2.99 we decided to give them a go.
These pillow protects are 74cm (Length) x 48cm (Width), white and have a quilted look and feel to them. They do add a little bit more padding to the reasonably priced (I.e cheap!) pillows that we brought before and this is just a welcome little luxury when we have guests over. They fit to the pillow just like a standard pillow case and it only takes a few seconds to get one pillow protected. This only means it's very easy to remove them for washing and they are also suitable for use in a tumble dryer but we don't own one of those! We have washed these on several occasions so far and providing we use a low spin cycle and a cold wash they appear to be staying in perfect condition, however, this may be a different case if you wash on 40C regularly.
We have been very pleased with the quality of these pillow protectors and while they are not used every single day they get used most weeks and washed most weeks also. I am sure if they were used on a regular basis that they would wear out a lot faster but at £2.99 for two they will hardly break the bank. These will protect your pillows from grubby marks, hair and dirt and I would firmly recommend them, whether your pillows were cheap or not. The quilted part does give a nice softness to even the cheapest pillows and makes them feel just a little more luxurious which is ideal when you have guests staying who may have travelled a long way to see you! They have protected the pillows that we purchased them for very well so far and I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again at such a reasonable price.
When I first moved into my flat a few months ago I needed absolutely everything as I had moved out from living at home with my parents. The one thing I wanted badly was a brand new and gorgeously comfortable bed and I got one. I found lots of bargains for my bed from Argos and purchased lots of stuff from there as I found things well within my budget to set up with and decided that with a boyfriend that sweats like a pig in bed that as I had bought really nice and expensive pillows for my bed that they needed protecting at all costs!
For a packet of 2 of these pillow protectors they cost a mere £2.99 a packet. They are designed to of course help your pillows keep stain free but also they are slightly padded to give extra comfort.
These are L74, W48cm in measurements, white in colour and have a very slight padded and quilted effect to them. They have an opening to one end and you simply pop your pillow inside of them and the end bit folds over to protect the open ended bit of the pillow. I find them to be of standard size and although I have huge thick pillows they fit on them snugly and really, really well. Made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton cover they are not too thick but soft to the touch and are machine washable (at 40C) and suitable for tumble drying and of course you cover them with your usual pillow cases.
I find these to be great, well great for the first few washes anyway. At first these really did feel very comfortable against our heads and although they got dirty and grubby looking they washed up brilliantly and no stains ever ended up on my pillows and they stayed looking and feeling as good as new!
However after a few washes I found them to go saggy and lifeless. They still protect my pillows reasonably well and do a good job in that respect but they have become looser fitting on my pillows and move about a bit more than they did originally, though like I say they do a decent enough job, they just don't feel so light and comfortable as they did in the beginning and so they have a lifespan.
However they've lasted me a couple a months now and I will be replacing them and find them a decent enough buy even though they didn't last me as long as I thought they would but still my pillows are as good as new!
