Advantages: Keep pillows clean and fresh, add extra comfort to the bed
Disadvantages: Sag and get lifeless over time through washing
When I first moved into my flat a few months ago I needed absolutely everything as I had moved out from living at home with my parents. The one thing I wanted badly was a brand new and gorgeously comfortable bed and I got one. I found lots of bargains for my bed from Argos and purchased lots of stuff from there as I found things well within my budget to set up with and decided that with a boyfriend that sweats like a pig in bed that as I had bought really nice and expensive pillows for my bed that they needed protecting at all costs!
For a packet of 2 of these pillow protectors they cost a mere £2.99 a packet. They are designed to of course help your pillows keep stain free but also they are slightly padded to give extra comfort.
These are L74, W48cm in measurements, white in colour and have a very slight padded and quilted effect to them. They have an opening to one end and you simply pop your pillow inside of them and the end bit folds over to protect the open ended bit of the pillow. I find them to be of standard size and although I have huge thick pillows they fit on them snugly and really, really well. Made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton cover they are not too thick but soft to the touch and are machine washable (at 40C) and suitable for tumble drying and of course you cover them with your usual pillow cases.
I find these to be great, well great for the first few washes anyway. At first these really did feel very comfortable against our heads and although they got dirty and grubby looking they washed up brilliantly and no stains ever ended up on my pillows and they stayed looking and feeling as good as new!
However after a few washes I found them to go saggy and lifeless. They still protect my pillows reasonably well and do a good job in that respect but they have become looser fitting on my pillows and move about a bit more than they did originally, though like I say they do a decent enough job, they just don't feel so light and comfortable as they did in the beginning and so they have a lifespan.
However they've lasted me a couple a months now and I will be replacing them and find them a decent enough buy even though they didn't last me as long as I thought they would but still my pillows are as good as new!
Only available from Argos stores.
Summary: A great buy for the price!
