Argos Value Range Hollowfibre Pillows
Advantages: The price
Disadvantages: They tend to flatten quickly
I have recently been buying some new bed linen for my bedroom and have bought quite a few bits from Argos, I wanted some more pillows as the ones we had been using were from Tesco and although they were nice to start with they were starting to look a bit flat and worn. Not wanting to spend too much I decided to give the Argos value range pillows a try, at a mere £3.49 for a pack of 2 I hadn't a lot to loose.
The Argos value pillows come tightly packed in a plastic bag which is very small, making them easy to carry home or to your car. Once the bag is opened the pillows puff up nicely and I was pleased with how they looked. The pillows are covered with a 100% spun bonded non-woven polypropylene cover the same as the Value duvet. The pillows appear very well made with nice neat straight seams. There were no bits of cotton hanging from the seams which is always good.
The pillows measure approximately 71 x 46cm's, not the largest of pillows but big enough. They are non allergenic so shouldn't pose too many problems foe people with breathing problems or allergies, of course I am only going by personal experience here, I am asthmatic and had no trouble using these. The filing is 100% polyester hollow fibre and has a lovely soft feel. The pillows are machine washable on a 40oc wash but are not suitable to be tumble dried. I haven't washed mine so I cant comment as to how they hold up in the washing machine.
When we first used the value pillows we had 2 each and they were lovely, very comfortable and pliable, I didn't experience any neck ache or shoulder problems, I was pleased with them. However after a couple of weeks they started to feel decidedly flat, there was no substance there. I did now start to feel uncomfortable sleeping on them and we were both waking up with an aching neck every morning. It was time to abandon the Argos value pillows and pay out for something better.
If you are looking for some new pillows that are cheap then these certainly fit the bill but unless you like to lay quite flat then I wouldn't recommend these, they can be used for children over 2 years old and may well be fine for them but in my opinion these are no good for adults. Having said that though I have actually bought another pack of these since, we never sleep on the pillow cases that come with a duvet set, I like to save those for display during the day along with a few other cushions.
These pillows are ideal for this. Being a bit on the small size some of my pillow cases are slightly too big for them but generally they don't fit too bad. The pillows look nice on the bed during the day and providing you remove them before bed and don't sleep on them they are fine.
Summary: OK for display only
