Sadly my little girls are no longer babies and as such it was time to make the transition from baby sleeping bags to big girl pillow and duvets. To make the change a bit easier for them I involved them in the buying of their new duvet covers and pillow cases. Upon seeing this Peppa Pig cupcake set I was told "Peppa Pig ones", decision made 2 sets were purchased.
The duvet set
This set comprises of a single duvet cover and standard pillow case. It is a rotary design which is handy when on a toddler's bed as they can always see the Peppa design. It means making the bed is that bit quicker as it can go on either side up.
The first thing I noticed after putting these covers on the duvet and pillow is that the design is slightly too large for the pillow. As the 2 sets I bought are cut from different parts of the material you are able to see different parts of the pattern. Sadly this means that one of the pillow cases we have doesn't show either Peppa or her friends. I introduced the pillows into the girls cots first and it was slightly annoying that one of them couldn't see Peppa on hers.
It is made of Polyester and the information label advises washing before use. The material certainly isn't as soft as my own cotton/polyester mix covers but it is soft enough and not scratchy. I bought these sets a few months ago and following the instructions of washing them inside out they are washing well. I have always tumble dried them so far and find that they can go straight back on the beds without needing to iron them.
Price and availability
I bought my sets from Argos just before Christmas when they were on offer with 2 sets costing just £18.88. This design is no longer available from Argos but can be bought from Amazon for £15.99. I don't think I would be willing to pay this much and would look at one of the other Peppa Pig bedding sets which are available.
Would I recommend?
Yes, this is a good bedding set if you can get it for a reasonable price. My girls were both really pleased with their Peppa Pig covers and it has helped make the transition to pillows and duvets easier in our house which is what I hoped it would do.
When we changed our youngest daughter to a big bed she was mad on Peppa Pig and knowing that she wouldn't be happy that she could no longer use her Peppa Pig toddler bedding I decided to buy her a different Peppa Pig set to fit her big girls quilt.
I ordered the quilt cover from Amazon and it costs £15.99 with free delivery which seems to be about the average price for character sets.
The quilt come packaged all folded in a rectangle and in a plastic wrapper which was easy to get into. The cover is very pastels colours which I think is lovely and it goes perfectly in Emilys room as it is pink and white. There are loads of little pictures to make up the whole quilt cover such as Peppa heads, little cakes, a teapot pouring tea, Peppa Pig with Suzy sheep and little words such as two for tea. The duvet cover is very girly and Emily really loves it.
The cover feels quite silky it is made of 48% cotton and 52% polyester and fits a normal single quilt. We have found that with the cat the cover gets grubby rather quickly with it being pastel colours but it washes well so that is not a worry however it does crease dreadfully and although the instructions say you can tumble dry it on a cool setting I would not advise this as personally I don't iron duvet covers and it ends up looking scruffy.
Emily was thrilled when she saw this on her bed and she kept pointing at and naming the characters. I didn't realise just quite how much she loved it until she was sick one night and I had to take it off her bed and she cried for her Peppa Pig back!! I have ended up that I have to explain to Emily when I am going to wash the cover and she will have a different one on for one night and then I have to put it straight back on to keep her happy and willing to go to bed easily!
I would say that if I had known how easy this would crease I probably would have picked another cover but Emily loves this and apart from the creasing it is brilliant so I would still recommend it.
