I desperately needed a duvet for my new bed and one night running out of time and facing a fleece throw only my bed I ran into Argos in haste. I was astounded by the choices available and the prices that they can cost (quilts that is!) and then there is the mind-field of course that is 'togs'.
Me, I freeze and am quite a cold person as a rule anyway, my boyfriend that stays with me quite often is hot stuff and sweats like a pig in bed and we'd already had the discussion of what tog we needed so we'd both be comfortable. Me I wanted a 13.5 tog with winter coming up and living by the sea (it don't half get cold here!), he wanted the least possible tog so he didn't burn up and melt! I couldn't face being cold so when I spotted this duvet cover with a 10.5 rating calling itself 'Perfectly Balanced' I thought it was a good compromise!
Well you can get this duvet in single, double and king size and all come in the same white hanging bag with a yellow section of colour on the front of it. On that there is a picture depicted of scales and we are told that it is 'Perfectly Balanced', 10.5 'Duvet for people who are just right in bed'. Simple packaging this is and thats it in the information stakes really! This is an Argos own product as far as I am aware but I am assuming that cos I'm told that in black or white or anything and haven't seen them on sale anywhere else!
The Quilt Itself:
First off I was surprised when I unrolled it from its packaging. I was surprised that it looked so thin! However it looked nice and of good quality with its outer covering being made of 30% cotton and 70% polyester and felt smooth, strong and durable. The inside is well enough filled with 100% polyester hollowfibre evenly throughout it and the whole of the duvet is really rather light. There are panel like lines, gently stitched in the top of it and a washing instruction label on it that tells me I am able to wash this at 40C and that it is also suitable for tumble drying and that it that, it looks and feels smooth and of good quality.
However, this duvet comes down to personal preference as to whether you like it or not. Above all it is good quality so if you like the tog and a lightweight feeling quilt there is nothing wrong with it and my boyfriend loves it. Me, however I freeze in just this alone on the bed and we have argued once or twice that I want a thicker and more togged up duvet! Like I say though I can't argue with its quality.
I can't wash this in my washer machine or dry it in my tumble drier as it is too big (being a double) though I have took it the laundrette and washed it on 40c and it came up clean, refreshed and in the same condition as I took it there in and I dried it in the tumble drier there and it was completely fine and not damaged at all.
All in all I recommend this product though like I say and keep saying it is a really light feeling duvet to me and doesn't feel warm enough!
Only available in Argos as I am aware of and the single duvet costs £7.99 as it is on sale and the moment and will soon go back up to costing £9.99, the double is on offer at £11.99 and will soon go back up to £14.99 and the kingsize is £15.19 and will soon go back up to its full price of £18.99! So if you want one even cheaper than normal act now!
