      Disadvantages

A really warm and cosy duvet to keep my kids warm through the winter months.

A couple of months ago someone pointed out to me a very cheap double duvet on the Tesco direct website. I realised that I could use their Clubcard Boost scheme to increase the value of my clubcard vouchers, and I decided I would replace all of our duvets and pillows ready for winter.

I bought two of these - one for each of my boys. The price is £17 to buy this online, or £8.50 worth of clubcard vouchers if you do it the same way I did. The duvets each came tightly rolled in a plastic outer pack. It is the sort of packing that once the duvet is out it will not go back in the bag quite the same.

The duvets were very pleasing when I unwrapped them. I found them to fit in our standard single size duvet covers well. They look really clean and bright made from a nice soft material. It is 100% polyester on the inside, and a mix of 70% polyester with 30% cotton for the exterior.

I wanted my children to have nice warm duvets for through the winter. When I first put these onto their beds, it was September time. My youngest son complained he was a bit too hot, but I think this is because he has a plasticky waterproof mattress protector on his bed. My eldest son has said nothing of the sort. I have snuggled with my children under these duvets when watching DVDs downstairs on the sofa, and I found it to be really quite snuggly and warm.

The reason I was swayed to getting these was not only was this duvet machine washable at 40 degrees, it can also go in the tumble dryer. This is essential for me as I sometimes have to deal with wet beds, and it is a lot handier to have a duvet that can be washed and dried within the same day to remake a bed for a child's bedtime. I have washed this a few times since getting it, and it hasn't bobbled or twisted from washing or drying.

This did feel quite a heavy duvet initially to me, but my boys had quite light weight duvets on their beds in the really warm summer months and these are thick in comparison.

I like the thought that these are anti-allergy. Neither of my children suffer from allergies, but my youngest child does have a bit of mild eczema, so I thought this could be helpful. I don't really feel I have noticed a difference from having this feature, but it just gives me a bit of peace of mind.

With this being a high tog rating of 10.5, I would say this is more suited to the cooler months of the year. Once the weather is warmer I will have to change back to lighter weight duvets to stop my children overheating when asleep.

There is nothing to dislike about this duvet. I have found it well made and does exactly what it is supposed to. I am really grateful I don't have to drape wet duvets around the house anymore to get this dry in the winter months.
