About three maybe four years ago my eldest son was absolutely crazy about Spiderman so as a nice surprise I re-decorated his bedroom.
My friends son had outgrown Spider-man so she offered me a padded Spider-man headboard and a bed tent, of course I gladly accepted these and to be honest they were the inspiration for the re-decorating!
Painting the walls were obviously the biggest change but of course when you re-decorate a bedroom buying new duvet covers is a must! As we were going with the Spider-man theme I knew we needed to get a Spider-man duvet cover.
My mum knew I was doing my sons room and she came to my house one day with this fabulous Spider-man duvet set. Brilliant, one less thing for me to worry about!
When the decorating was finished we put the furniture back in and made up the bed tent and added the headboard, then I made the bed up with the set. I used a red sheet on the mattress and it complemented this set nicely.
The set came in the usual plastic packaging with cardboard insert and was easily unpacked. It was a little stiff so I washed and dried it first then put it on the bed.
I was a little worried at first as the material really did seem quite stiff and hard but washing it solved the problem and it felt nice and soft afterwards.
The pillowcase and the duvet cover both include a picture of Spider-man and are brilliant for any Spider-man fan. It looked great on the bed and went on as easy as any other duvet cover, the bottom has simple little press studs rather than actual buttons which make things so much easier.
I tend to wash bedding on a 60degree wash using Ariel and fabric softener and I have found that over the years the bedding set has faded a little bit and has bobbled but it has been used with three of my children who have all at one time or another loved Spider-man so I can't really complain. It does still look fine on the bed although it isn't used so much now.
Ok so my kids get basically anything they want, and their bedding is no different loll. My son loves batman and Spiderman, so normally anything he gets is either one of these two. In fact he does actually have both duvet sets. Ok less babble and on with the review loll.
I purchased the duvet set quite a while back now; I think I paid around £25 for this at the time, although it may be slightly cheaper now. Included in the set were one duvet cover and 1 pillowcase. I was slightly disappointed to see that there was no bottom sheet included in the set, so I could either use a normal sheet, or look around for a Spiderman sheet. Well after paying £25 just for the duvet set, I did not want to go out and spend ever more on a sheet. So I rummaged through my bed linen draw and found a dark blue sheet that seemed to go well with the duvet set. So I just used that instead.
The duvet cover and pillow case are both imprinted with a picture of Spiderman going from the top to near the bottom, then has Spiderman wrote at the bottom in big yellow letters. The duvet and the pillowcase match exactly on their designs. They are pretty easy to put on the bed, even though I always have a bit of a fight with quilt covers. I still managed to get this one on. Once the duvet cover is on little press-studs at the bottom easily fasten it up. I do find though as with any quilt cover these also can come undone just as easy as they were fastened. I find a lot of times on a morning, I have to redo the press-studs but it's an easy quick thing to do so not a lot of trouble really, as this happens no matter which one you buy.
The duvet set will go through the washer, I always was bed linen separately and separate colours so could not say whether the colour runs or not, but the colour has never faded yet and it has been washed several times. The material on the duvet set is not the smoothest of material, but my son seems to like it and sleeps well with it so it can't be all that bad loll.
Overall I think it was slightly overpriced, but my son loves the set he has, so it has to count for something. They always overprice superhero items no matter what they are as they know that people like me will pay that price for them. As long as my son is happy with it then so am I. It does seem to be very durable, and so far no damage has been made to it.
