A well made pillow, but I found it too firm, difficult to get comfy on, and can't recommend.

I had quite a lot of tesco clubcard vouchers this summer as I had been saving up for something and then realised I didn't want it any more. So, I decided to use some of them in the club card boost scheme to buy new pillows and duvets for all of our beds.

I picked up a pack of firm pillows for myself and my husband. We both sleep with two pillows usually, and I bought a 2 pack to replace one pillow for each of us. The price of these is £13.50 currently for the pair, or with club card boost, £6.75 of club card points. I felt this was quite a bargain.

Described as a firm pillow for people who sleep on their sides, I thought these sounded pretty ideal for us. Both of us like a lot of support, and sleep mainly on our sides.

When I first got these pillows they were very different to what I expected. The thing that makes these firm pillows is a core of memory foam in the middle. This is then encased in normal pillow filling (polyester) with a soft microfibre cover.

When these were first used, I have to say I thought I had made a real error purchasing these pillows. They are not particularly comfy as there is a bit too much support and it feels quite hard under your head. Normally I find it takes a day or two to get used to a new pillow as it is usually a little plumper than I am used to. Then, the fibres settle, and its like you never had a different pillow. With this one, it took weeks to get to a stage where I felt used to it. I kept trying to use it as my top pillow, whereas my husband put his under an old pillow, and he never had this restless phase getting used to it.

Eventually, I also gave up trying to have this as my top pillow. It just does not lead to a good night's sleep whenever I do try and use it for sleeping. I do like it if I am sat up in bed reading however, as it gives good back support against my headboard.

While I would now say I am used to the pillow, I can't say I would buy it again or recommend it. I think it would work well for someone who needs a pillow through the day, or sleeps propped on many pillows, but for actually lying quite flat and sleeping on it, this is not for me.

On the plus side, should I need to clean this, I find it very useful that this can be machine washed and tumble dried. The foam in the middle should hopefully stop it twisting inside the cover as pillows tend to do.

I can't really give it a good rating, but it is not really the fault of the pillow - it is labelled as firm, but I just didn't realise what it was when I bought it. If I did, I wouldn't have bought it.
