WHAT IS BED IN A BAG?
There are three different versions of Bed in a Bag with mine being suitable for a Kingsize bed and inside the sturdy transparent plastic bag adorned with a thick white carrying cord I found five items. There was a duvet cover, two housewife pillow cases (or to be politically correct, I should say "houseperson" pillow cases!), cushion cover and a bed runner with my bed set being identical to the image I provided to Dooyoo, as shown above. What I particularly like about this bedding is that in big lettering on the cardboard insert are the words "easy care". When purchasing new bedding I always prefer to give it a wash before using, particularly as the fabric often feels a little starched and I will provide the washing instructions further on in my review. The duvet cover and pillow cases have been washed several times and dried both outdoors on the line and in the tumble dyer. As I wanted my new bedding to look its' best I actually ironed it whilst my husband watched in utter shock as I deciphered how to use the iron! I will briefly discuss each of the items in the next sections of my review.
The off white coloured duvet cover is made from 50% polyester and 50% cotton and measures 230 cm x 220 cm. I don't normally favour white or cream bedding, as I like to inject a little colour into the bedroom, but what I love about this duvet are the six pretty rows of beige, light and dark brown coloured embroidered circles that run vertically at the upper section of the duvet. In addition, there are six narrow raised sections of fabric that run directly above and below the embroidery to create a slight pleated effect. This is considerably eye catching and despite the duvet having been washed, tumble dried and ironed on a number of occasions the embroidery shows no signs of wear. I have always owned cats that were never permitted to get onto the bed, but my husband overruled my decision resulting in similar duvet covers being totally ruined, as their claws would catch on the embroidery. Unfortunately, I no longer have any pets, so my bedding will not get ruined, but I wouldn't recommend anyone buy this set if they allow their pets to get onto their bed.
During the evenings I choose to take my laptop upstairs and sit on top of the duvet cover, so I needed something that would be durable as well as looking attractive. Fortunately, the duvet cover does not easily crease and the constant sitting on the bed with my laptop has not caused any of the embroidery to break and/or fray. The duvet cover is wonderfully soft and gentle on my skin, as I cannot bear bedding that feels rough and scratchy. A problem I have experienced with many duvet covers is that there is often too much fabric, which results in my duvet not reaching each of the corners. However, this is not the case and the duvet perfectly fits inside and has white buttons on the lower side.
HOUSEWIFE PILLOW CASES
The pillow cases measure 75 cm x 50 cm and identical to that of the duvet cover they are made from 50% cotton and 50% polyester. They bear the same beige, light and dark brown embroidered circles together with two lines of pleated fabric that run vertically. I've purchased many pillow cases in the past that do not have enough fabric included in the section that is tucked inside. However, the pillow cases have been well made with plenty of fabric to tuck inside to enable my pillows to fit snugly. The pillow cases are extremely soft to lie on without the embroidery causing any irritation to my face.
The cushion cover measures 45 cm x 45 cm and is 100% polyester and is of a shiny bronze colour although Sainsburys describe it as chocolate. It displays four rows of beige and dark brown embroidered circles and what I particularly like about the cover is that there is no zip, which can often be difficult to disguise. Located on the reverse of the cover is an opening, which runs the entire length of the cover to enable the cushion to be placed inside. The area displays a fabric overlap of approximately 7 cm so that the cushion is not visible.
The stunning bed runner, which measures 52 cm x 255 cm was the deciding factor for my purchase of the bedding set, as it creates a finishing and luxurious touch. The runner is made from 100% polyester and is of a shiny bronze colour. It has a deep padded hem around the edges with the central part of the runner being slightly less padded. Located on each side of the runner and the areas that rest on both edges of the bed are two rows of beige and dark brown embroidered circles, identical to that of the cushion cover. The runner looks absolutely spectacular when displayed on the bed and provides a contemporary appearance. As the runner is solely intended for decorative purposes I remove it before placing my laptop on the bed, particularly as the material could easily damage.
As you have probably guessed by now, I absolutely love my choice of bedding and the only issues I had when I initially removed it from the bag were that there were a few loose lengths of cotton. All of the hems have been finished to a high standard with no knotted threads and each of the embroidered circles are perfect with no visible missing stitches or errors. I say this because I've purchased similar bedding sets in the past that have shown a number of imperfections. TU's Bed in a Bag comes with my high recommendation and as a result, it receives 5 stars from me.
The bedding can be machine washed at 40 degrees and can be tumble dried on a low heat setting. The materials are not suitable for dry cleaning and a cool iron should be used on the reverse of the bedding. Whilst I will not use the bag again for the bedding I have found that it's come in extremely handy for storing some of my many bottles of toiletries.
