I've already reviewed some of the lighter Bear Beers and this is the strongest one on offer. Originally a product of the Danish brewery Harboe Oelled, it has been sold and re-packaged to other Northern European countries over the last decade or so - most notably Estonia where it's produced by Viru. Whilst this one seems to prove popular with the day-tripping boozing Finns and Swedes that visit Estonia and draws attraction to others due to the novelty polar bear on the bottle, it's most commonly available in a 1 or 2 liter plastic bottle - a size that is common througout the Baltics. The problem doesn't occur with packaging but rather with taste, it's hard to get 10% beer right and this is no exception. Apple juice coloured it doesn't look completely clear - giving it a sort of "infection wee" look, it has a medium to large white head which fades fairly quickly but it does remain fizzy for a long time, it is malty and alcohol-fuelled in smell and whilst there are hints of malt and hops in the taste it is mostly overly alcoholic for a beer. If you just want to get wasted then this will do the trick but if you want to enjoy your beer, then it's best avoided and if you want to dabble in the novelty act polar bear part of the beer then you are better going for one of the lighter versions.
